I now see why Charlie got an A rating. He is reliable, punctual, knowledgable and more than willing to share his knowledge. In addition, he is a nice guy and pleasant to deal with. He also took care to protect my carpet as they took the old water heater out, which I appreciated greatly. Finally, he was extremely helpful up front in helping us decide which water heater to purchase. I have already booked him for another project, and would recommend him HIGHLY. This is the first time I have ever written a review on Angie's List because Charlie is well worth an A rating!

Everything went perfectly. At last a contractor who returns calls, shows up as promised, and does great work.

Charlie came out right away after I called him and explained that my tenant's furnace was not heating the house. He was able to get out to the apt quickly and showed me exactly what was going on and why the furnace was not heating the house. His fee was reasonable and the furnace began doing its job again. Overall a great experience.

Thought I smelled gas in the house one evening. Called Charlie. He came within 30 minutes. Did a great job of checking all pipes and appliances for leak. Showed and explained everything to me along the way. He spent over an hour. Found no leaks anywhere. He further suggested what it is that I might be smelling which is not gas. Charlie is very thorough, responsive, professional. Price is very reasonable for putting my mind at ease. Highly recommend Charlie.

Charlie was great, very thorough explanation of what was wrong and how it needed to be fixed. Was fair on quote, when repair became a bigger issue that needed to be taken care of by gas company, he only asked for a service call charge, which we thought was generous on his part given time he committed and he helped navigate things with the gas company and thus tipped him a bit more for doing a good job. We definitely plan on using him again when the need arises.

We had an ejector pump that was leaking alot of water during a rainstorm. We called at 10pm and Charlie showed up in 20 minutes.He knew what he was doing, was professional and calm, and solved the problem (which, fortunately, wasn't major.) Gave us the Angie's List discount and is eager to earn more business. Happy to know a quality plumber in the neighborhood with 24 hour emergency availability.

On Sunday, July 1, the tenant in my rental property informed me of a leak between the 2nd and 3rd floors. This was frustrating because this same leak had supposedly been repaired four days earlier by another plumbing company that, of course I later learned, is closed on Sundays. I had a sense of urgency about the leak because it generated a steady enough flow to require a bucket had the potential to damage the adjacent central air/heating unit (which happened once before when the hot water heater of my upstairs neighbor failed.) I turned to Angie's List and found Charlie's Plumbing. Not only did the company have Sunday hours, but I was able to reach Charles directly via cell. He was able to fit me into his Sunday schedule (unlike another company I called that claimed to offer 24/7 service, but wanted me to wait until Monday) and quickly fix the problem. As it turned out, the previous plumber had not fixed the problem correctly: the 3/4-inch pipe they installed was too short. Charles provided me a detailed invoice, which will be helpful in my dispute with the previous plumber.

Arrived on time and did the job well. Was pleasant and courteous.

Charlie unclogged my kitchen sink and replaced my garbage disposal. He made the problem go away and did so in such a professional, enthusiastic manner. He also brought his assistant, Dakota, and they both were so very knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend Charlie's Plumbing in a heartbeat!

We had a very slow gas leak for several days. We found out it was coming from the valve which looked to be several decades old. We called Charlie at 11:45 am and he came over at 2 pm the same day. He was courteous, very knowledgeable, and punctual. He thoroughly explained the problem to us while working on it. It was a very good experience overall.

We called Charlie to install a toilet. Met him and picked one out with his advice. It was a bad choice. When he unboxed itt, he said its installation would be much more complicated than we needed. He advised us to get another offering his choice to replace the first one. He installed it and told us he'd put silicone around the edges to fill in the uneven floor space. He asked for 250 instead of his usual 300. We reminded him he'dsaid it would be 225, so he accepted thatg. All of this took about a week of no-shows, no calls received, as promised, waiting for his promised arrival - centering our lives around his broken promises. And after it was installed he said the stack prob ably couldn't stand up to another removal/installation, once again late with information. The toilet rocks side to side' Most of the time he spent at our house he was doing nothing. He drank our coffee and sat and opened the first toilet and saw it was wrong. Took a long time before he told us that. I have entered a report earlier. I don't think he belongs on Angie's list.

It went really great. I got the feeling from the beginning that Charlie really wanted to solve my problem. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, he came over within an hour to stop the leaking. He had another appointment so he left and came right back. He took it seriously, moved the pipes so they were in the right place, reinstalled the toilet, and finished around 6:00 PM. He was super pleasant (although his baseball loyalties are suspect).

I called Charlie due to a leaking water heater I discovered at one of my rental properties. The heater was leaking badly and causing some flooding in the unit. Charlie came over at around 7pm to get the system to where it would stop leaking, so that the necessary work could be performed the next day. The leaking water heater was unfortunately boxed in behind another water heater, and there were many original installation problems to deal with. Lack of proper shutoff valves at the water and gas made everything a lot more complicated. Charlie came back the next evening and worked until around 12:30 am to ensure that everything was properly hooked up and confirmed personally that all of the tenants were getting water again. He met me the next day and thoroughly described the operation of the heaters and offered to return to help work out some pressure problems caused by the old piping in the building. The work was quality, and he was very pleasant to deal with. I plan to call Charlie again in the future if I have any other plumbing or HVAC issues.

Charlie was great! He came out on Easter Sunday to assess the situation (sewage backed up into the laundry room- GROSS)! and give an estimate. He was very patient and spent time expaining how our basement plumbing system worked. He came back the next evening to replace the broken pump. All went well, and at a great price. Thanks Charlie!

I called numerous places prior to calling Charlie and ended up getting no shows and no responses. After doing that for a few hours, I worked my way down the list of contractors and found Charlie's Plumbing & Heating. I called and spoke to Charlie while he was still working on another job. He and Dave got here as they had promised and then got right to work on my gas leak. They had to open up the wall and were very careful and meticulous in making sure they cut open the drywall squarely so it'd be easier for someone to patch up after they're done. They were very careful every step of the way in removing and replacing the defective valve. They even cleaned up the dust afterwards. Very friendly and personable guys. I highly recommend them and would call them again.

After much research I decided he was the best contractor for the job.

Quoted very low price, so you hang in their hoping he will show up. Needed to have toilet removed and replace a broken seal, quoted $150. It was a waste of my time, waiting repeatedly for a plumber that does not show up, or have the decency to call to let you know he is not coming. It actually gave me a headache! I went back to Angies List and phoned a very highly rated plumber Chicagoland Quality Plumbers and he is coming over tomorrow. I look forward to working with him. His reviews are good, and everyone said he is reliable.

Job was perfomed professionally and promptly. Price was very fair and competitive. We would use this company again.

Charlie was personable and responsive. He responded to my voice mail on a weekend and the work was performed the following Monday. Monday morning, he called to alert me that he was running late (but he arrived still later than his revised E.T.A.) A savvier contractor might have charged a reduced fee after seeing the amount of potential future work that I will be requiring, but I was billed what had to be full price for, literally, a few turns of a wrench. Be that as it may, the work was done in a professional manner and my problem was fully resolved.

The toilet was leaking at the hosepipe and we were up during the night dumping water. Charlie came a day later than promised to turn off the valve which wouldn't move when we tried to turn it. He said he'd return the next day, but didn't and didn't call. Charlie claimed he had an emergency job he was doing. In spite of this, he said he'd come to us early before going to that job. Again, he didn't and didn't call .It took 5 days like this to get him here and the job done. After the toilet was installed, he told us the stack pipe couldn't take much more if we needed the toilet taken out again. Had he said something before, we would have asked our condo assn. to get stack pipe work done. Our bill was $300; he said he'd discount it to $250; we reminded him of the 25% discount he'd offered. He then charged $225.

I had an appointment for the Friday before but he forgot! I rescheduled and he showed up on time and serviced my furnace. Also figured out why my water heater wasn't working well. Fixed that. Very nice. Answered all my questions.

I would definitely recommend Charlie. I called him at 6pm and came by the next morning exactly when he said he would and was able to do the work that day. He was half as much as my normal "cheap plumber" and easily one third a lot of plumbers. Had the city of Chicago building inspector in there a week later and everything passed. Will definitely use him again.

He did great work and even cleaned out all the beer cans behind my fireplace wall left by the builders.
