C V Hardwood Flooring

I am so pleased with the results. The workers came when promised and the job was completed as promised. They did a wonderful job. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a work ethic like this.

Vasile’s team did a fantastic job installing my engineered wood floors. Everyone I dealt with from CV Hardwood was professional, hardworking, and focused on “doing it the right way”. They not only removed my old laminate flooring, they removed layers of other flooring underneath that the previous owner had covered up. The end result is phenomenal. I am so proud of the way my floor looks! I would not hesitate to recommend CV Hardwood to anyone.

Vasile responded right away when I contacted him through Angie's List. He came out the next day and brought many samples of flooring and finishes. He wrote up a contract with 3 options, and suggested I compare his offer to other companies to make sure I was satisfied. I liked his presentation and did not feel the need to call any other companies. He and his team removed 30 yr old wall to wall carpeting & padding, as well as the old hardwood floor and subfloor for my living/dinning room and hallway, which were the original floors in my 90 yr old house.. They also had to move some furniture into other rooms and then move it back when finished. Vasile communicated with me throughout the process and texted numerous pictures of floors he had completed to give me an idea of possibilities for coloring and finishes. He and his workers were very professional and polite. They worked steadily and Vasile came each day to work and/or provide oversight of his team. It ended up taking 7 days to complete, although it was projected to be about 4 days. However, with all the work that was done, it was not dragged out. I am very pleased with the floors and feel that it has given my house a much more modern and clean look.

Vasile the owner of the company was on premises. He was both professional and personable. He was upfront about any additional costs (which were minimal) and wrote out a new contract on the spot, so there were not any questions. The work was done on time and done exceptionally well. The floors look great! It was a pleasure to do business with this company.

Can barely tell the new flooring from the old, excellent work!

Vasile was very prompt, informative and cordial. His workers were also highly professional. We emptied drawers and shelves but the guys moved everything out and then back with no scratches to walls or damage. They not only took down paintings and removed coats from the closet but even moved the piano. Vasile went above and beyond what we were expecting.

I chose the most expensive option by replacing the sleepers with plywood. I chose Vasile based on how he explained the options: the age of my floor and how much life it had left and how to mitigate the thudding sound versus the squeaks. Generally, it went well. There were surprises and problems to overcome but none were Vasile's fault. The first surprise was that the sleepers were twice as tall as usual. Conduit ran across several corners of the rooms which is why the sleepers were so tall. This required twice as much plywood and more labor. We negotiated a reasonable price for that. The next surprise was dealing with two large radiators that had to be removed for the new floor. One company bailed at the last minute, another clearly didn't know what they were doing, but Vasile recommended a company that takes care of his mother's building (!). When it came time to reinstall the radiators, there was more trouble. The new floor was slightly higher so the radiator feet had to be trimmed. The old floor had some high and low spots and, given the age of the building, I guess the new floor being higher wasn't unusual. The really awful surprise was that the radiators leaked inky black water several hours after being reconnected and the system being refilled. Turned out that the expansion tank, pressure release valve, and the fill valve were all broken and the system had too much pressure. Once the extra water was dumped and pressure returned to normal, no more leaks. With a few passes of the sander, the black stain was gone. Another surprise was that the little boy on the top floor has asthma. Sanding and finishing had to be limited to Wednesday through Friday, when he was away. While I flipped out through all of these problems (especially the inky stain), Vasile and his crew sailed though. I guess they've seen it all before. Vasile kept me updated with progress. He messaged photos each day. It took at least twice as long as expected. But it looks fantastic. The squeaks are gone and I think I would hear a bomb go off upstairs but otherwise, its quiet. And my boiler system is fully repaired and working great.

I was incredibly pleased. First, they dealt with the problems we presented by living in the house during the work, which wasn't easy to accommodate. Next, the workers they used were quiet, professional, prompt, and clean. The craftmanship with which they matched the old wood with the repairs was flawless. Looking at our floors now you cannot tell there was any repair done. It is absolutely beautiful.

I called a couple of companies to ask about refinishing my original hardwood floors. Vasile was the most responsive. He came to my place to give me a free estimate. He showed lots of photographs of what he recommended using - and sent them to me as texts so I had all of the information. He came with two team members. They are all very nice. They were helpful in moving the furniture so they could work on the floors. That was a relief. They did excellent work. I would recommend this company.

Amazing work! Very easy to schedule, very willing to work within my budget. Sent me photos of work along the way showing progress. This could have been a very stressful project, but it was seamless.

Vasile and staff at CV flooring did a great job fixing and refinishing the floors. Vasile took the time to explain the process of each of the repairs. He was able to answer most of my questions and also allowed me to test wood stain samples on my floor so that I can select the right stain. I'm happy with the end product. Only negative feedback is I wish all the paperwork was electronic, including the contract, Certificate of Insurance and License. I needed these documents to send over to the Condo association and I was provided a picture of it via text message. I was able to work with what was provided, however, for me personally a little bit of technology etiquette works best.

Vasile Contra is the owner of CV Hardwood Flooring. Vasile is passionate about his work and communicates well about what needs to be done. He responds quickly and positively to concerns; he is meticulous, careful and easy to work with. Vasile has been on site for each project or done the work himself. Our floors always look beautiful when CV Hardwood Flooring is finished. CV Hardwood Flooring was recommended to us by friends and we couldn't be happier with the results. I was most impressed by the recent work he did. We live in a loft so the floors are the same through out. He was able refinish the small section that is the kitchen and make it exactly match the floor around it that was not refinished. Very difficult. Our general contractor said it would look a little different until it aged some.

We had a great experience with Vasile. He scheduled an appointment to come out for a free estimate right away, during our home inspection. He was on-time to the appointment, and he gave a clear, written and itemized estimate for a range of work that we wanted done, explaining various steps in the process and options and providing/texting pictures from his phone. Since his price seemed very reasonable (our only comparison was through a higher end general contractor, which was about 30% more), we went ahead with him. Scheduling the actual work was very easy as well, and Vasile was able to come in right during the pre-move window when we needed him so that other work could be done on time as well. We ended up adding the shoe molding removal at the last consultation (he didn't recommend it at first), and he was fine with this change. The actual work had a little hitch because of the very high humidity while he was doing the various coats - drying was taking a long time, so the work went a day over (which ended up bumping completion to a Monday instead of Friday). Thankfully we had built in a little time to our other projects, and Vasile completed everything in time for our painter to come in next. He also was fine responding to texts during the work in order to keep us updated on his status. In terms of the finished product, while we don't have a lot of comparisons/experience in this area, everything looks great. The upstairs floors were pretty rough and now look brand new. Our painter said that Vasile took more care than the average flooring person with regards to the shoe molding, too (which she painted for us). There was a fine coating of dust afterwards, which it seems is to be expected with this process, and which we just cleaned up ourselves. Also, our movers put a big scratch in one of the bedroom's newly finished floors when they moved a heavy dresser. When I checked in Vasile to ask whether there was a way for us to buff out the scratch ourselves, he responded promptly and offered to come out again to take care of it, which he did. He also provided us with a scratch treatment kit for free at that point, along with recommendations for nearby stores for getting good protective pads for our furniture. In sum, it was a pretty painless process. Vasile's prices are good and he is very diligent and complete, and seems to genuinely take pride in his work and take the extra step to take care of his customers. And we're very happy with the finished product. We ended up deferring redoing the carpeted stairs until later on to save money and since the carpet seemed good to have for our toddler son, and we will contact Vasile again when we decide it's time to redo the stairs as well.

Vasile was great. He provided a thorough quote, explained each option, texted me pictures/information on different finishes and sealers, proactively sent his license and insurance, etc. His price was right in line with the other quotes, but the reason I hired him was that he cared, did not try to upsell and gave great information. I trusted he would do a great job and he delivered.

We got a quick and affordable estimate, timely updates with pictures of the progress, and high quality work. It is hard to tell that two different firms at different times refinished different floors. The workmen were polite, courteous, efficient, and completed the work on schedule

Vasile was prompt and responsive the entire process. The floors turned out excellent; we got a very nice stain finish, and the hardwood was evened out smoothly. There wasn't too much dust everywhere, which we really appreciated. I think Vasile and his team did a fantastic job for us!

They did very good work, filled in where a fireplace once was as well as many other repairs, none of which stand out. They left the house extremely clean.

We thought the floors were a total loss because of water damage. Vasile suggested a darker stain and voile just like new floors. Considering the floors are over 90 years old this was a feat. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will use his services again.

I needed my floors refinished shortly after moving to the area and they were able to accommodate my schedule. The work was performed and I was advised my painters could start work in 48 hours. I had two small issues: 1.) I had was the painters came out and caused minor damage to the floors due to the floors not properly curing according to what I was told by the flooring guy. 2) They left my tub messy and not cleaned (Bogdan's wife came out and cleaned it the next day, no questions asked). They came back out and fixed the repairs - the painter and my flooring guy will settle on a cost for having to come back out.

Vasile team was great. Professional, attention to details, clean and very knowledgeable. The sanded, and refinish about 2000 sqf. Vasile was always in contact and they performed the job on time.

Vasile's team removed the damaged floor and put in new sub floor and boards and it is now the only part of my wood floors that doesn't creak at all! They were professional, friendly, on time and had the best price out of the three quotes I got.
