I interviewed about 10 hardwood contractors from Angie's list to get quotes. All of them are with at least 30 reviews with average A grade Overall, contract with higher reviews tend to be more professional, same with Vasile. Usually, you pay what you get. High rating contractors tend to charge more, because they pay more attentions to detail. Vasile showed his knowledge not only in hardwood flooring, but also in related projects need to pair with the hardwood floor. He reminded me several key related works I have never thought of before starting the job. Pricewise, Vasile is very competitive on price and with quality work, not the lowest but I decided to go with him because I believe that he would do a good job. When he finished his quote, and I asked him if I got a discount to replace the hardwood floor for the whole unit, he said he could install a new baseboard for free. After we started the project, Vasile's very responsible for his job too. He called me several times to follow up if a new problem comes out, or just to let me know of the job. During the installation, I needed to postpone the project because Vasile reminded me that if he suggested to do the door first and he can continue to finish the work. He does not want me to spend extra money and realize it's not done right. Because of the door material issue, I had to ask Vasile to wait longer, and he's comfortable with it as long as I communicated in advance. I felt Vasile is the guy with passion, and he will go above and beyond just to pursuit the best interest of his client. When other contractors came to my condo to do their jobs, you can hear them complimenting the hardwood floor job Vasile has done. Today the hardwood floor is done, and it's perfect. I will definitely ask Vasile to work on my future job, and refer to my friends and colleagues.

C V Hardwood Flooring replaced floor boards damaged by water, stopped the squeaks, sanded and refinished my kitchen floor. They came out as scheduled and gave us a very competitive bid. They arrived to perform the work when scheduled. They were very professional and polite. We were very pleased with the final results.

CV flooring did a great job, and we will likely have them come back to do the kitchen in a couple of months during that remodel project. We purchased a home in Oak Park that had oak floors throughout, that hadn't been refinishied in probably 50+ years.CV Floors provided a competitive estimate, and was able to work over Thanksgiving week, which was crucial for our overall construction calendar. They performed all the work as promised, did an excellent job, with no issues or follow-up necessary. The floors look great, we are very pleased with the service and quality of the work.

Vasili is absolutely wonderful! Went above and beyond expectations. Terrible old floor -- I just asked that he "make it look better." I was completely shocked to see a gleaming, beautiful floor, which he not only refinished in a timely, professional manner, but he also repaired the broken, patched places although we had not requested this. He also sanded the closet floors, although we had not requested or expected this. I have already recommended him to two friends and will recommend to anyone else needing beautiful, professional, work done very economically (in my opinion).

Vasile and crew were a pleasure. Everyone is very hard working and friendly. I live in a community with association rules. They respected these rules and started and completed work dictated by the association. They even came out on Labor Day to complete the finishing touches so that I could get settled sooner rather than later (installed doors, closet organizers, assisted with furniture). Vasile had explained everything from the quote to the final completion of the job. He and crew did a wonderful job. The newly installed floors match the upper floors perfectly. I would defintely recommend CV Flooring.

Vasile and his crew did a terrific job. He went above and beyond to be helpful -- even driving color samples to my office to show me. He did the work while I was out of town. He emailed me photos to make sure I was happy with the progress, and kept me apprised on any extra repairs that needed. He did nice patches in places where radiators had been moved in the past. He also was responsive to my request to use eco-friendly products. A very good experience.

We hired CV Flooring to sand, stain and refinish the hardwood floors in our living, dining, kitchen, hallway, four bedrooms and stairs. The work involved removing carpet from the stairs and one bedroom. We closed on our home on 6/29, and needed the work to be finished by 7/6. As soon as the moving truck from the previous owners left our drive way, Vasile and his crew moved in and started with the carpet removal and sanding. He brought in a number of different sanders that each serve a unique purpose. One of his guys spent over 7 hours removing carpet staples from our stairs. I am sure that that was not budgeted for in the price, but Vasile did not come back to me to increase the price due to unforeseen issues. Vasile put different samples of stain colors on my sanded floor so that I could make the right decision about which stain I wanted. He uses only the highest quality stains and finishes. My floors turned out beautiful, the crew cleaned up all the mess, and Vasile is very responsive and returns calls quickly. They finished on time and the quoted price is what I paid.

My husband and I purchased a house recently and we were contemplating about refinishing the hardwood floors and decided to get a quote to start off with before making a final decision. After reading through a lot of reviews from different companies, C V Hardwood Flooring appealed to me the most. I contacted Vasile Contra on July 2nd and he came to our house that same evening. He was very professional and even took off his shoes outside before coming into the house. Vasile went over the different stains as well as the type of refinishing (such as satin, semi-gloss or gloss). He took measurements of each room and pointed out a couple of areas where certain wood planks needed to be repaired. After Vasile took the measurements he provided several prices quotes. We weren't sure if we wanted to refinish the entire house but minimally we wanted the living room, dining room and hallway done. He provided a quote for these 3 rooms, as well as a price quote for each room and the repairs. Vasile mentioned that if we do the entire house, it would be 20% off plus an additional 10% off for being a member of Angie's list. After Vasile went over all of the information, he left some brochures and the different color stain board with us to think over. He did not push or try to convince us to take the offer. After thinking it over that evening, we decided to move forward with having all of the rooms refinshed. I called Vasile the next day and told him that we would like to move forward with hiring them. I asked him when he was available to start. Vasile mentioned that they could start on July 16th and that it would last about 3 to 4 days. I asked him if there was any way he could book us sooner than the 16th. He then said that he can squeeze us in on July 6th which I agreed with. During the morning of the 6th, Vasile and his crew of 4 other people came to the house at 8am. They got to work right away without hesitation. After about an hour, Vasile and 2 other people left to start another project. The 2 remaining (Radu and Manuel) continued working. Not only did they do an exceptional job, they worked from 8am until close to 2am and the weather was 100 degrees that day (with no air conditioning since we had to turn it off)! They sanded all of the rooms and stained them too before leaving. The next day, Vasile came in the morning and put the semi-gloss on. This procedure had to be done a couple more times to allow for the floors to dry so Vasile came back early afternoon and then after 3pm. Vasile also added thresholds to all the bedrooms to make the rooms and floors look nicer. The entire project was completed much earlier than what was originally quoted (within 2 days!). After the floors were dried, my husband and I were staring at the floors in utter amazement at how wonderful they looked. We chose Colonial Maple stain (semi-gloss) because that color appealed to us the most. They did such a wonderful job and the floors look gorgeous! All of the crew members were really nice and hard workers! If I had to redo my floors again, I would definitely rehire Vasile and his crew!! Nice job!!

Vasile is very professional and takes the time to explain what he is doing as well as any issues that arise during the installation and refinishing of our hardwood floors. The project is not 100% complete yet, but so far everything looks great!

Woking with Vasile and his crew was very enjoyable, Vasile spend time going throughout what exactly he was going to do to the floors and how much time it would take to complete the job. We provided him a broad time line to finish the job and he completed by the deadline. The floors looked beautiful when they were finished and we are very pleased with the end results. If we ever have any floring needs we will not hesitate to use CV Flooring again.

Great service. Even completed the job a few days early due to working over the weekend. Everyone we dealt with was very nice and professional. Crew worked incredibly long hours to make sure the job was done quickly and correctly. Highly recommend.

Vasile and his team worked overtime to get the job done before we moved in. We closed on our house on a Tuesday morning. After the closing, we called Vasile and he and his team came right over to start. They showed us some different color stains and we chose the one that we liked. After that, his team got to work. They worked throughout the day (and night) on Wednesday and Thursday since our movers were dropping off our stuff on Friday. This was a tight timeframe, but Vasile worked really hard to get it done on time. The floors turned out great.

Vasile responded to initial telephone inquiry quickly and came over to house to measure room/closet. We discussed options and Vasile provided quote on the spot. He was able to do work in our requested time frame and delivered new wood the following day. Allowed wood to rest in room where it was to be installed (this is done to provide breathing/curing time before installation) Installed floor 5 days later, sanded, and applied first coat of finish. He continued with additional coats of finish on the next consecutive day. His team was efficient and professional and they cleaned up after each day of work.

Went perfect and the floors look brand new in a 30 year old home that always had carpeting over them. Vasile is awesome. He and his crew are very nice and professional. They know what they are doing and do things right. I would definitely use them again and have referred them to my family who are using them as well. Great job!

The estimate came exactly when he said. He came on time to perform the work. Everything was cleaned up nicely. They did good work.

Their quote is on time, and their quote is accurate. They call if they run into any issues and wait until they have confirmation from you. They have competitive pricing.

We left a voice message for CV Flooring and got back to us right away to schedule a free estimate. They were able to come out on the date and time we asked for, which is always nice. They provided a quote that was a bit less than one other company we looked at so we went with CV. They were able to come out the next week, again on the exact day we needed, and get the floors done over two day period. The second day was only for a few minutes each time to apply second and third coats. The owner came out both days to check that the work was being performed up to par, which it was. And everyone was very friendly and professional, and got right down to work!

we had three companies give an estimate. Based on our conversation with Vasil and his attention to detail and his attitude towards his work, we knew we wanted him to do the work. His estimate was higher than others but we showed him the other estimates and he came pretty close to matching it. His crew did a clean job; cared about our house and accomodated us on all our requests. we are very pleased with his work and would recommend him.

The floors are beautiful! They turned out so well my handyman wanted his phone number to refer him to other clients. Vasili was helpful & communicative.

Professional & courteous. Completed the job as stated. Was very quick, yet efficient with the job. Gave me a very detailed written estimate with several options when he came to give me an estimate. Price stood the same from the written estimate to the time of completion.

Vasili was very responsive & communicative throughout the whole process. His estimate was thorough. When I called to award work to Vasili the work was scheduled. The wood for the new floor was dropped of a week ahead of time to acclimate. Vasili was sensitive to items we were not sure of like stain color, he worked immediately to sand some of the existing floor putting down some stain for us to see. Then running out to store to obtain a different color putting that down allowing us to see & select a color we liked. Vasili kept us informed of what he intended to do each day. We are extremely pleased with how our floors look. It is impossible to tell the dining room floor was an added hardwood floor to the house. the wood Vasili bought matched perfectly. The flush air vents are a nice touch.

They have an Angie's List discount which was great. The contract was very detailed. He explained everything to me very clearly and was incredibly thorough. They always responded to my phone calls immediately. I could tell the workers were working hard to put in my flooring efficiently and carefully. I would definitely recommend them to others.
