Budget Right Handyman

I normally don't write negative reviews and instead go first to the contractor to work things out directly. Unfortunately, after several conversations and me having to follow up multiple times still with no resolution I'm now deciding to post given that I was told two weeks ago by a customer relations person that they would be back in touch to work things out. No call back. Long story is that I had two electric outlets that weren't working, needed to replace a light switch that had broken and a few light bulbs. I called and the owner answered right away, which I appreciated and we were schedule quickly. I asked him if they could do the electrical work and he said yes - and that he would send one of his workers who was skilled in that area. Fast forward to meeting the person at my house. The worker was a half hour late and didn't communicate to the person who I gave him the number for. I finally went to the home myself, let him in and he proceeded to tell me that I needed to have the materials there. My fault on that. I wasn't told about that up front, but I was told after by the company that's what they do. Fine. I should have looked into it. Now I've killed almost an hour and no work is done yet. A while later I get a call from the worker that he's not licensed so can't do the electrical work. I did have a light switch on hand so had given that to him to replace, but almost two hours later and several phone calls and I still don't have the outlet issue fixed and the other things I needed done also weren't completed. At this point, I have the skills, not the time (!), I should have just done things myself. I'm $100+ down for what amounted to replacing a light switch. I call to follow up, leave several messages and ask what can be done. I don't get a call back, I leave another message, and another. I finally hear back from a customer relations person who says he's there to make sure things get worked out. He leaves a message. I call back and nothing. I call again. I then get a text saying he had an emergency and was out of the office. Finally talked to him a couple weeks later and he said he'd look into it and get back to me. Surprise. Now hasn't called for almost 2 weeks. That's the long story. Short story is I'm out $100+ and still don't have the work done. Again, I get the have the materials there piece. Fine (but I wasn't told that when booking). I also asked specifically about them having the capacity to do the electric and was told yes. There was no warning that they might not be able to do certain things. I'll own my part but for a company that sells itself on eliminating the hassle and doing the things you need done this was a terrible experience as a customer. Poor and zero communication is a deal breaker for me as a customer. Disappointed.

Chris the project manager was absolutely great. Got me an appointment last minute and was a total professional. Manny his handyman was great!

This is our second time working with BRH at our rental property in Deerfield. We live out of state, so we definitely need a company that we can trust to do the best job even though we can't be there to see the final product. We were happy with the communication from the office as well as the handyman himself at the project (I'm sorry but I forget his name because this was a few weeks ago). I appreciated that he checked with us first before performing an additional action requested by the tenant. We will definitely work with them again if needed :)

Budget Right Handyman was GREAT. Requesting a quote through their website was very simple, and they followed up promptly. They were also great about keeping me informed throughout the process, and the technician they sent, Mario, did a fantastic job in less time than anticipated. Mario himself was cordial, professional, and genuinely cared about doing a top-notch job.

Jared completed all three projects well. He called to let us know he would be 10 minutes late because of an unusual rain downpour resulting in heavy traffic. He was pleasant and highly competent, would hire him again, and will recommend him to my friends. The cost of service indicated below includes materials..

The quality of the work was outstanding. The best part was that we felt very comfortable with the two gentlemen who did the work, Andy and Manny, they were polite, detail oriented and made sure that everything was done to our satisfaction. Excellent experience.

My technician was very honest and professional, performing a less expensive repair than what was originally quoted but solved the issue. He was very clear about what he would be performing and why.

The handyman was honest, professional and explained to us that what we wanted him to do would not be successful. We were never charged and I cannot recommended them highly enough. Honest and professional!!!!!!

Terrible. I ended up getting charged for work I did not request. I paid 400 $ for what typically on average only costs 275$. Management was not responsive. I was supposed to get a call from a manager which never happened. Nick - the coordinator- was very defensive and never considered the possibility that there may have been an error on their side. Just horrible customer service in light of the fact I was overcharged. Thinking back through this entire ordeal, there was a phone communication mishap where the worker misunderstood one of my requests to simply check the pipes under the faucet to ensure their were tight . The worker went ahead and checked all pipes in the house. Thus the additional $114.75 charge. I am never using them again. I am a General Contractor that used Budget Right for small jobs my affiliated company did not have time for. What a shame because I have much work that will now go to someone that I can trust and that listens to their customers.

Mario S. did a great job on a few plumbing issues. He was also professional and courteous to myself and my tenants. I'm a landlord and have used Budget Right many times. They still have 0 strikes and I plan to continue using them. Thanks Mario!

Didn’t go forward with project — at this time.

Showed up on time, did the work neatly and cleaned up after the job was completed. Always setting expectations with me along the way. The ceiling looks great.

There were billing issues and I don't feel the work was up to par. It was done almost a year ago, however the gate was never hung right. Even once we fixed the gate, they had only nailed the connecting post into the wall, so it ripped right out. The supporting beam on the gate also sticks out, and they made no effort to make the work look finished - meaning that wood splinters are sticking out around screw holes, etc. They overcharged for sub-par work.

Contacted Budget Right to have three interior doors hung. BRH Sergio Compian was assigned the job and he was great. He met me at Menards to pick up the doors and deliver them to my home. He was actually early. He got all three installed. They look great and it didn't take very long at all. This was my second time using the service and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Excellent! Technicians Luis and Art showed up on time each day. They were friendly, and courteous. They walked through the house at the beginning of the job, listened to my concerns and explained how they would take care of everything. All work was superb! They kept the work areas clean throughout the day and did a thorough cleanup at the end of the day. Definitely would hire again!

Jarred did an excellent job replacing and painting all of the necessary boards on the front of my house. I would recommend using Jarred again. He was professional and knowledgeable about the issue and did a wonderful job.

I hired Budget Right to do several projects for my association building. I also sell real estate and had been recommending them as well. However, my recent experience has not been positive. I've been working with them to get these projects completed for a couple of months now (and all the projects are STILL not completed). I've had to follow up by phone or email many many many times to get bids, get work scheduled, or get responses to simple questions. They sent a bid (after I followed up several times to finally get one) on all the projects, but failed to mention materials were not included. The prices were very high, but the board had voted to move forward anyway. With materials, it was suggested the bid would go up around another 2K- which was an insane amount of money. So, we pared the bid down to necessary projects and approved it. Of the four projects we approved, two of them still are not completed. On one of them, a gutter replacement of a corner piece, they are now saying they can not find a piece to replace it with (they didn't research this before they said they could do it?) and it has been weeks since we approved the bid. The other, installing a motion light on our garage, I've been trying to get completed for 7 days and only got a response today after reaching out over a week. We were told when Andrew arrived the first time we were responsible for ordering the light we wanted (why were we told there would be material runs and costs if we have to provide all the materials?), which we then did, but that could have been communicated long before then as I'd sent the link to the light weeks prior. They've sent confirmation emails that workers will arrive on a certain day and time and they've now shown- when I was waiting home from work to let them in. When I called about that, I was told "Oh, he had another job- we're sending someone tomorrow." I wonder who was going to let them in when I hadn't been notified of any change. Horrible, HORRIBLE, communication. Overall, it's been a beast. I'd give them two stars. Andrew was nice.

Jarred Gilliam, the technician from Budget Right, did an outstanding job. He arrived early and completed the work quickly and in a highly professional manner. I would not hesitate to use Jarred and Budget Right for future work.

The deck stain work was not easy given the location and it was completed with professionalism and looks great. Luis did a terrific job completing all of the items on my list. Highly recommend!
