Budget Right Handyman

The handyman arrived on time, was polite and easy to work with. He obtained all supplies i.e. light switch, paint, lumber. The light in the garage only needed a new bulb. The light switch needed to be replaced and this was done the next day by another worker. (The first person didn't realize he needed a dimmer switch.) The first handyman had us step outside so we could see that someone else had previously gotten white paint on the stonework surrounding the door and he didn't want to be blamed for this. However, when we checked later, there were new drops of white pain ton the door sill. The two benches required five or six pieces of wood to replace the non-existent seats. He replaced the boards and everything looked fine, but when I later looked closely, I found one board was on a slight slant with a 1/4 inch gap between and one board had a hole drilled on one end where the position of the bolt had been miscalculated. In Budget Right's defense, the worker had a family emergency later and his mind might have been on that. Also, I am Ms Picky when it comes to little details. Still, I didn't think the job rated an A.

The handyman was professional and polite. He did a very good job repairing the broken door jamb and replacing a wall molding that had been damaged by someone else's work. Both of these carpentry jobs were very thorough, left clean lines, door is plumb and closes perfectly now. Bathtub caulking was fine, but this isn't a high-skill job and its hard to mess up! He wasn't able to fix a faucet but gave some ideas of how we might try on our own, and he explained how to repair and repaint a damaged wall corner when he ran out of time. I liked that he left his boots at the door to avoid tracking dirt in the house. Nice job and I'd use this service again for other minor repairs.

Very well. Very professional, and answered all my questions! I'm a worrier, and the two guys they sent took time to explain everything. At one point, I called the company because I thought the grout had been discolored. The company was more than willing to rectify any problem. It turned out the grout had just gotten very wet.....so no remediation was needed. The point is, it was a great job, and they were willing to fix anything to make it right. I'd use them again for a lot of things!

He did a great job, He was able to get all the objectives done in the 4 hour window and was extremely courteous and professional.

Great. job finished the work in less than 2 hours and offered to do anything else I needed to pay for the 2 hour time slot I paid for.

I bought the coupon for 2 hours and knew that I wanted to have all the supplies so he didn't have to go any where. I had a number of jobs for him to complete. He spent alot of time on one job that didn't need much work but he did figure out the problem but didn't fix it. The rest of the work that was completed I could've done myself the way it was done.

I called and someone came within a few days. The people were extremely nice and helpful and did great work. They are honest and do good work. Only annoying piece was that you have to pay $25 extra if you're outside of Cook County which was explained to me before they started. I'm two blocks outside of Cook county but oh well it was worth it. I would definitely use them again.

I bought a 2-hour deal from Budget Right. This is actually the second time I've purchased a deal from them and both times I received excellent service. The first time, the handyman's name was Tim. He replaced a light fixture and my toilet wax ring. We tested the toilet couple of times, and it seemed to work. But the next day, it was leaking again. Tim came back on a Sunday, installed a larger ring and didn't even charge me for it! More recently, I needed some cable holes drilled in my wood floor, cables rerouted, and a TV wall mount installed. They sent Matt over to do the work. He was great. He didn't trust the screws that came with the mount to work for the depth needed - he said that they would probably work, but that he was uneasy leaving it that way. He was very diligent and efficient. I would hire them again. I think their hourly rate is a bit high, but frankly comparable to most other handyman services. All else being equal, I think their quality service makes them a good value.

The workman was friendly and professional. The work was completed competently. The price was great for the amount of time and work involved. There was a small miscommunication that resulted in me not being notified that the workman would be arriving two hours later than scheduled, but as I said, it was a miscommunication. The company attempted to contact me, but unfortunately did so using my office phone number. And, because I was home at the later time, it was only a minor inconvenience. My only major note is that while the work was great for some small, straightforward projects we needed done around the house, the workman was unable to tackle, or really assist with two slightly more complicated projects. So, we're still in a position of trying to resolve those two issues even after a several hour visit from a handyman. Not really a complaint, just a note on the limitations of this kind of service versus what is available (at an admittedly much higher price) from a specialist.

I pretty much explained above, they were very nice and responsive, it just didn't work for me.

Tried to get some work done before the holidays. Called and emailed before a response was attempted over a week later. Got one call while I was at work and I couldn't answer. Called back and didn't hear back for another week or so. Called Angies List and the rep was very helpful. Said he would call the company and try to speed things up. Still didn't receive a call for at least a few days after that. I understand when there is a Big Deal there is sometimes a big response. All I ask for is an attempt at communication. I have had success with other companies who I am sure were busy as well. Had to get work done elsewhere.

He arrived within 15 minutes of agreed time, and even called to say he would be late. I was not present at location, so Ken called preiodically to update me on the process and progress. He called when job was completed, took a picture with his phone and sent it to me. Great service.

He arrived late. I called to find out where he was and told that he was sent to the wrong location. When he arrived he was apologetic. His appearance was not what I would consider professional but others would have no problem with. I personally think that when you go into people's homes you should be clean shaven. It's not that big a deal, just food for thought. My dad explained what he wanted done and he had a solution. He ran to the store to get supplies and came back promptly. He finished in less than 2 hours, which we had paid for, and he was able to do another small job for my dad. He was a really nice guy. Was kind and patient with my dad who is 78 and was nice to my kids 3 &4, who wanted to sit and watch him work. Overall, I loved this experience and would recommend Budget Right to anyone searching for this kind of help.

I didn't meet them there, but they did the work. It looked like that the worker simply flipped the step and nailed it. Does it take two hours to do it? you be the judge. But, I don't think it is the company's fault. I just wish when we purchase the two hours deal, it won't limited to one time.

Great experience. Philip was on time, worked quickly and very diligently. I thought we were going to have to replace kitchen drawers but he had fixed them within an hour and we have not had any trouble since. We have already used Budget Right two more times since our first experience.

i got scheduled right away. he was a littel late, but did call to let me know. he was quick, clean, and efficient. i will definatly have him back.

The company was quick at returning my call to set up an appointment. However, there was no response when I called back with more specific information about the model of microwave that needed to be fixed (the handle was broken and yet a replacement is no longer available from GE). When Philips arrives, he apparently was not informed about it. Philips arrived on time and was very nice and helpful. He solved most of problems I asked him to tackle. He did spend more than 30 minutes diagnosing problems with the kitchen light without success. He was very nice in explaining how to replace track light. Overall a good experience.

Went well - second time used!

Budget Right's handyman Tim arrived on time for my two-hour appointment. Tim was extremely competent, eager to help, and funny -- no job was too big or too small for him to handle. After showing him all of the projects I needed to get done, Tim realized that a trip to the hardware store was necessary to complete some of the projects. Tim had diagnosed that the problem with my ceiling fan was in the motor, not the switch, but I decided I would have to buy a ceiling fan at a future date and install it later. Upon returning from the hardware store with the necessary parts for the door handle and toilet, Tim showed me several photos of possible ceiling fans that he took with his camera phone while at the hardware store -- so incredibly helpful. One of the projects ended up taking a bit longer to complete than fit within the two-hour window, but Tim made the necessary arrangements to get the job done, and to get it done right. I was extremely pleased with the professional services provided by Budget Right and will absolutely use them again when necessary.

The Handyman came right on time. He was fast and professional and did a great job. We are happy to have a gate that actually works and looks nice.

Aaron was very professional and courteous. I had a backyard fence that was falling apart and he quickly came up with a variety of ideas of how to fix it. He made sure he was able to do it within the two hours I had paid for and worked very hard to finish the job. He also took the time to explain everything and happened to have all the materials in his van so no need to go to the hardware store. He worked so quickly and efficiently that I was able to have him help out with a few other things in the house in the end - and he was so eager to help. I so highly recommend him that I had another job set up with him.
