Budget Right Handyman

It went well, He was a bit late but stayed to finish the job. He had to run out to get some supplies but that was not that big a deal

After several attempts to find factory instructions, we had the manufacturer fax instructions. Thes being of limited use, he improvised and completed the task in a timely fashion.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was okay. It took me about 2 weeks to get them. They have this thing where you could do a half hour extra yet you pay for 2 full hours. The work was fine but if you do another half hour, they charge you for 2 hours. That’s how they do it but it was a little disappointing. The handyman itself was fine, I have no problems with him.

Aeron was wonderful. Showed up on time, Worked fast. Had to purchase some materials at Lowes. Came back with receipts and didn't waste any time. Took me through the various steps of projects and explained what needed to be accomplished. Would certainly use again and will recommend. Overall was very pleased with results!

Young man is very bright, very personable, polite, dressed appropriately, no body odor. Knew his stuff re: how to complete usual handyperson jobs. His language of origin is Spanish, mine is not, so he advised purchasing "power source" to protect from electrical surge due to lightning strike. The issue was protecting my electronic equipment, I knew he meant "power strip," this is minor. I am definitely hiring these people to come back in the fall, when I need same air conditioning units removed, for the winter. This is one of the best services I have purchased, since I moved to Chicago 9 years ago. A great find !!! Thank you, Lynn Huber

The employee was nice but late. I paid $94 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I thought I was paying $80 for 2 hours like I had before back in May. I wrote out the check and the employee informed me that it was just an introductory price for first time customers. I am pretty sure when I spoke to the owner or manger on the phone he quoted me at the $80 too. Regardless, I think he did a good job but I don't know if it was $94 worth of work and time. Next time I'd make sure to buy the deal online or just do it myself.

They were fine. I wasn't thrilled with them, but it was okay. Their price was decent, but they didn't work very hard, didn't seem like they tried very much. The guy was looking at his phone for the first hour, first two hours. I don't know why. They did quality work, but they weren't very productive at that. I wouldn't recommend them and I wouldn't say they're bad either.

It was great. They needed to stay for an extra half an hour so we payed for the extra time. They were very helpful in terms that our original plan didn't necessarily pan out and so we had to go to plan B in terms of making the blinds fit. I thought they were professional and good problem solvers around that. The blinds are great.

They definately didn't make a good first impression with me. I will take my business to someone that has the professionalism to respond promptly to potential customer inquiries.

They were great, on time, efficient, and good at what the jobs were to be completed. They were great about disposing of all garbage and cleaning up after themselves. I would recommend and use again in a second.

I have used Budget Handyman several times in the past and they are always first rate. This was no exception. I moved into my mid-century house a little over three years ago and it needs a lot of updates and replacements. From the look of the three-dimensional wallpaper, etc. I'd say the bathroom was last updated in the late 70's and early 80's. The service person was on time, took out the old wall mount sink which was way too big for my very small bathroom, and the leaking faucets couldn't be turned off anymore no matter how hard I pushed. He replaced the pipes (asking if I wanted the plastic or steel), removed the old rusting medicine cabinet and the wall mount storage cabinet. He also removed the light fixture over the sink that looked for all the world like the eyes of a giant queen ant peering down from the wall. He installed and caulked the new vanity and fixtures, medicine cabinet and storage cabinet. The storage cabinet was originally over the toilet and it blocked part of the window so I wanted it moved to the other side. He held it up for me in a couple of different places so I could decide where it would be best. He gave me advice for painting (yes, I know that ideally should have been done first, but the leaking was becoming a real issue). He also had to make an extra trip to buy pipe and fasteners because I didn't know what would be needed. He gave me full instructions about letting the caulk set and how to care for everything. I also wanted an exhaust fan replaced and I asked him to look at it. He told me what I needed (and that it would have to be done by an Electrician due to the outdated wiring). I really appreciated the advice. I had a two hour Angie's List Coupon but the job was way more than two hours (closer to eight I think). He gave me a very good rate for the total job...and yes, he got that cleared away before he did any work. There were no surprises. I really enjoy working with the people from Budget Handyman.

The handyman arrived promptly and went to work immediately on the identified repairs. He was friendly, polite, skilled, and diligent. Working non-stop to complete them in the allotted time, his work ethic and professionalism is to be commended. I would definitely recommend this company to other members.

I purchased a deal from Angie's List= 2 hours for $79 back in mid-august. Scheduled 8 hours originally to have a long list of things done around my condo. I was able to use the angie's list deal and a couple other internal coupons they offer. 2hrs for $80. Aeron showed up on time, assessed the list of projects, went to Home Depot for materials then came back soon after to start the work. He worked quickly, was polite, cleaned up any messes, and knew what he was doing. There was a variety of projects on my list and he got them all done in 7 hours (including 2 trips to Home Depot- he had to go back to make a few returns and get some more silicone). After all the coupons, labor was $220 and materials were what he paid at HD. He let me make copies of receipts so i could document some of the repairs for my condo association and helped me figure out the time/materials for the association projects. I would definitely call Budget Right again and request Aeron.

Overall it went fine. Al was very nice, flexible, and a pleasure to work with in my home. When some accidental things happened (I believe they were genuinely accidents), I had to notice them myself and ask him about them. These items included cutting of an electrical/phone wire, his blood on my paneling (not wiped up for days), and using my eight month old ottoman to cut the flooring which resulted in a 21" horizontal slice to the leather. Accidents happen but I was a little disappointed I had to notice these things for myself.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out really wonderfully. They were very timely and they cleaned up.

Everything went great. Easy to schedule. The handyman showed up on time and quickly got to work. I had a short list of things that needed to be completed and he quickly took care of everything in about 90 minutes. I used a coupon, well worth the price. I would hire again.

It was fine. There was an additional charge because we were out of their area but other than that, the work was fine. I would call them again. I thought the price was fair because I had a couple of other estimates.

They were great. They are always punctual. They do what they say and stick to their estimates. The work is completed well, they do not have to come back and correct it.

Went well, right on time and very nice. Happy with my results. I will probably have him come back.

He actually called and said he could come about an hour early. That was definitely good for me. He was professional and clean. I was happy with the work he did.

Ken arrived on time. He was very professional and did what was on my list.

The completed door frame looks nice. My husband (a self-made non-professional handyman) wasn't happy with the tile work and had to remove some of the thinset because there was too much as the tiles were shifting. Aaron had a difficult time with framing the back door. Granted, we had installed a pre-hung metal door that wasn't perfectly even in the door frame. When he claimed to not be able to do the framing, we discussed further. I offered some ideas on how to accomplish it and he agreed it could be done but only with a table saw, a tool he did not have. I made some alternative suggestions to the table saw and he agreed it would work. He left before starting that project but hoped we would hire him again so that he could finish the door. One small oversight of his during his visit was that he kept his van running all day and drained the battery. We had to jump his van halfway through the day. Aaron was very nice and professional. He made pleasant conversation and seemed to enjoy his job.

The company was hired for four hours of painting the wood deck, while out of town. Upon return, it was noted that painter stopped painting midway on the rails (about two inches from the end of the railing) Wife of contractor called and wanted additional money for painting supplies.

The handyman was running late but called to let me know. I had tried to purchase everything he would need so he wouldn't need to make a trip to the hardware store, but as always with home projects, he still had to go there. I lost a half hour of his time because of this but was not his fault-I didn't purchase all the right items. He was thoughtful with the projects; i.e. Removal of the pole, yard had to be dug up so he requested plastic to put the sod and dirt on which made clean up easier. The sawzall he used to cut the pole overheated and while waiting for it to cool down he worked on the gutter project. In all, a great experience and would use them again.
