Budget Right Handyman

Here is how it fell off the tracks: When I spoke to Dick Hoerr I was very specific in my question, "do you guys know how to adjust an Anderson french door with 8 hinges?" the answer was "oh sure not a problem". I stressed these are not just run of the mill door hinges they adjust up, down,left, right and pivot. He said I'l send a guy that will understand how they work. The service guy that came out got to my home before I could get home. I arranged to have him let in and instructed him where the doors were. I got home about a half hour later to find him filing the bottom of the door. I had to point out that the wood of the door was not what was rubbing the threshold it was the rubber seal on the outside edge. He agreed and understood filing what he was filing would not fix anything. He seamed relieved when I pointed out the hinges, he assured me he could "figure them out". He kept turning screws randomly for about a half hour before he gave up. I actually was relieved at that point and just hoping the door would still work. He told me the only way to get them adjusted was to get Anderson to come out. At first I figured it was just the guy I spoke to on the phone that screwed up but I cannot. I have to say the other work was just fair. To cut the shelfs he needed a saw blade from me and to use my tape measure. The cuts did not need to be precise however I expected them to be straight they are not. He did not clean up outside where he did the cutting. He was polite enough and I'm sure they can do some things well. They offer what would be a very fair price if they were more skilled. Mostly they should not say they can do something over the phone if they are not sure, all he had to say is, I'm not sure, send me a picture or I'l send someone out to LOOK at it. I did call A Better Door and Window, also on Angie's list they did a great job on my door adjustment.

BOB and STEVE of Budget Right Handyman were GREAT! They arrived on time. They quickly assessed how the heavy awning could best be hung. They executed perfectly. Double-checked their work. Cleaned up. And they were really nice guys, too! Will DEF use them again.

We contacted Budget Right for assistance in hanging artwork and other items in our apartment - basic stuff, but I wanted backup in the event we needed to drill into plaster, etc. The handyman who provided the service, Aaron, arrived on time. He was very conscientious to make sure each item was hung securely, and checked frequently if he had questions about how or where an item should be placed. After he completed work in each room he invited us in to make sure his work matched our vision for the room. He also discussed how to best hang certain pieces in order to avoid risk of damage - including advising us that certain pieces should not be hung from ceilings/walls, etc. Aaron was very polite and was able to complete the job while my wife and I worked. We would certainly use Budget Right again should the need arise.

The office also did a good job of scheduling at a time convenient for us.

On May 13th I ordered the deal of 2 hours of handyman service for $98 from Budget Right Handyman. In scheduling the appointment, I told them I needed repairs on my toliet plus some other handyman projects. On May 20th, Nick from Budget Right Kitchens came. I had him fix my toilet first since it was at the top of my list. Nick fixed my toilet in about 30 minutes. after he completed my main task, I went on to other items on my list since I purchased 2 hours worth of service. Nicks reply? "I'm just a plumber, you need to contact the company for the other things." As it turned out, the toilet was not fixed. I first contacted Nick and when he didn't reply I called the office and talked to Matt. Finally Nick returned my call and when I told him the toilet was not fixed and that maybe it needed to be rodded or might have to be taken up to remove the object obstructing it he replied that he was not a plumber. I was amazed at his reply because on the first visit he is a plumber, but now he is not a plumber? Nick told me he would have the manager call me. The manager called while I was in a meeting at work so I missed the call. I repeatedly tried to get a hold of him again to no avail. On several occasions in talking to Matt at the office he promised that the manager Tim would call but he never did. This is unbelievably bad customer service. I beyond tired of dealing with them. My toliet has now been broken for over a month. At this point I want my money back so I can hire a real plumber.

Purchased the 2 hr $99 Angie's List deal and it was well worth it. Bob came over to help us with many of the odds and ends in the place. He was extremely professional, personable and knowledgeable. My only complaint is he wasn't able to fix up our patio screen door as hoped. He was going to research a necessary part that weekend and get back to us, but never did. Despite that, i'd absolutely use their service again when needed.

The service turned out very well. We ended up using the handyman for more than 2 hours so there was an additional fee for the additional work. He repaired some holes with drywall that the electricians had left. He also did some painting, hanging and a few other small jobs. He was efficient, courteous and did a nice job. Excellent job done and I highly recommend. Aeron K was the technician that was sent. He was prompt, professional, polite, but most important... he did an excellent job on all of the items on my punch list. Aeron was proficient and there was no down time between tasks. He moved from one job to another quickly. He left no mess behind, cleaning up after each task and removed his shoes before he came in so that he did not track dirt in the house. He accomplished every item on my list in a very acceptable time frame. I give the service provided an excellent rating and intend on using them for my future handyman needs.

No services provided due to poor customer service.

Everything turned out well. They showed on time for the appointment, the scheduling was easy, and they did a quality job with the plumbing. The job did take a bit longer than expected, but the quality of the work was worth it.

We were happy with them. He was quick and efficient. He seemed to be able to do a lot of different things.

The provider sent a non licensed person to perform the electrical work. The work was done incorrectly the first time a 30 amp breaker and 30 amp outlet was put in but the wire added only supported 20Amp, needless to say the wire burned up and melted the outlet (luckily no fire). The company sent the same person out again to fix the issue and I had to tell him which wire to use after discovering he put in 20 amp wire for a 30 amp circuit. He told us we wouldn't be charged for the corrections and made them within two days. The information from the company on Angies list says they contract out to certified contractors but this definitely was not a certified electrician. The serviceman, Steve, was superb. He arrived early, and called to ask if it would be convenient for me if he started early. He finished the job in much less time than I expected. He was very neat and considerate. The job was done perfectly. I would call Budget Right Handyman again for other jobs, and I would ask for Steve.

It went great! Aeron arrived early, and completed the work professionally and quickly. I will definitely use them again!

The handyman from Budget Right arrived right on time. We did a quick tour of the home going over the items to be completed and he provided an updated work estimate (actually several hours less than the estimate we'd received over the phone). He went to work quickly and completed everything with time to spare. Had he not had to go out to Home Depot to get an item for the door, he'd have been done even sooner. Costs were very straightforward and the value was excellent. The buyer for our condo was pleased with the work performed and everything looked great. We'd definitely use Budget Right again.

Aaron arrived on time. He removed his shoes before entering the house. He got right to work and fixed my shower door. He had it back in service in no time. Aaron also did silicon caulking in the kitchen. He was very meticulous in doing the job. He replaced several black insulated staples with white ones, so you don't notice them. He is coming back in a few weeks to do some work on the outside of the house.

I discovered Budget Right Handyman through an Angie's List Big Deal email I received. I read other reviews on Angie's List and decided to purchase the Big Deal coupon. The whole process was great. After purchasing my Big Deal coupon, I phoned Budget Right Handyman to set up my appointment through Matt. I explained the type of work I needed in my condo unit and Matt told me exactly what I needed to have on hand for the job to be completed. I found that very helpful. I set up my appointment date and time and purchased what I needed from a local home center store. The estimated completion time was 4 hours and someone would arrive at my condo at 8:00 a.m. I received a call from handyman Steve shortly after 7:30 a.m. informing me that he arrived early and could start before 8:00 a.m. Steve began working at 7:45 a.m. and completed the jobs by 9:45 a.m. Steve got to work right away and did not waste a minute of time. I found him friendly and knowledgable and very dedicated to his profession. He tackled the drywall repair job behind the stackable washer/dryer combo first. He never complained about having to remove a bifold door or having to work behind a washer/dryer combo in order to tackle the repair job. Steve also expertly installed the new kitchen faucet with all of the necessary water line connections. I was very pleased with the service I received. I plan to use this company again in the future.

They did respond in a timely manner. My only concern was that he expected parking to be covered since the job was downtown Chicago. I understood that he was further away, but I do not feel that I should have to pay for parking for them to do their job. We have just decided on both ends it would better to be refunded.

It went very well. Aaron was knowledgeable, efficient, and made great use of the time we had. I am hoping to hire him again through Budget Right to take care of some other odds and ends. Thank you Aaron.

Aeron at Budget Right was great. On time, professional, did quality work and under budget! We had a small wood fence on the side of our property. Aeron was able to convert a portion of the fence into a gate by applying hinges on the post an cutting a door. It works great and looks good.
