Matt the owner was very responsive and helpful UNTIL her was paid. Then he went ghost and we never heard from him again. He wouldn't respond to messages and we had to charge back on our credit card. TOTAL SCAM.

Our blinds look great and were very reasonable! Matt did a great job installing them in our 100+ year old house. I'm amazed at how updated the downstairs looks with this small change. I would recommend them to anyone!

We decided to go with Budget Blinds because we thought that the price was reasonable, but haven't really shopped around as much as we have liked to. When we asked for an estimated time for when the blinds would arrive, he initially said three weeks. So three weeks later I call Matt back, the business owner, and left a message to call me back about the blinds. No response. I call sometime in mid June again, left a message on his phone, and still no response. By the end of June, he finally picks up and says that our blinds were shipped elsewhere, but that we "sounded like we wanted these installed urgently" so he was willing to install whatever he already had. Of course we wanted them installed, a whole month and a half went by, plus we had guests staying with us soon. He said that the rest of the blinds would come in a week, so I decided to wait. When I still didn't get any response or calls back about the blinds, I called and yet again left a message. Apparently if you text him, he'll respond right away, and his response was that "he would check his inventory", and never got back to me. When Matt finally arrived early JULY, he texted beforehand and asked if we had a ladder (he was also an hour late) . We offered him our step stool. When he was going upstairs to get the blinds installed, he asked my 65 year old mother to carry up that heavy step stool for him (I wasn't home at the time when this happened, otherwise I would have said something)! It was unbelievable! He also left all the boxes behind in our home. I checked the delivery dates on all of them. The latest one of the boxes arrived was June 15th, yet he made it over early July. The blinds look fine, but if I can turn back time, I would never do business with Matt ever again. Lacking communication skills, and just overall poor handling of his business, in my opinion.

I originally called Nancy at the Lombard office due to her great reviews on Angie's List, but she indicated my location was serviced by Matt at Bucktown Budget Blinds. Matt came out and measured our windows. He was very upbeat and seemed to know a lot about his product. He provided a quote on the spot for two shutter treatments. I had to ask him to repeat the quote as it was so low I couldn't believe it. I then asked him to provide a quote for cellular shades on a glass block window in our bathroom. He confirmed they could drill through our bathroom tile without any hesitation. The quote for the cellular shades was reasonable. I then asked him to quote shutters on four windows in our dining room. The quote was, again, very impressive. We called Matt a couple days later and said we'd like to proceed. I also asked him if he could quote shutters in the bathroom and he said that was an "excellent idea...there wouldn't be any problems with fitting shutters on our bathroom window". The next step was to have his manufacturer's rep come out for final measurements. I called the rep to schedule the appointment. He came out, took one look at the arched window and said Matt quoted the wrong material on the shutters - the shutter quote would be higher. Then he took one look at the bathroom window and said shutters would not work - not enough width and he wouldn't drill through the tile. I was disappointed, but anxious to see what the revised quote would be. A week passed and no one had called me, so I called Matt. He seemed taken off guard with my call and made some comment about calling the manufacturer to see if he had faxed the measurements. I expected to hear right back from Matt, but after waiting nearly another week with no response, I decided to call the manufacturer directly. He indicated he had not heard from Matt and had faxed the measurements over the day he was at our house. He was going to follow-up with Matt. I called him back two days later. He had not been able to reach Matt and asked if I wanted his supervisor to contact Matt. I said 'no' because I didn't want to work with someone who was so unresponsive. I asked if he could reassign me to someone else. Apparently, the supervisor was able to reach Matt because Matt called me a few days later with a revised, unimpressive quote. I wasted nearly three weeks on this company - a company I had such high hopes for.

I saw Budget Blinds Bucktown's great ratings and called Matt. I had initiated the kitchen project a few weeks prior with a different firm I had failed to check out on Angie's List and lived to regret it 'tho I was able to pull back safely. When I called Matt, I felt that I was behind my timeline and pressed to see him immediately. He was fantastic, returning my call promptly even 'tho on a personal trip out of state. He offered to meet the very next day after his return to the office; I was thrilled about that as it helped me to feel I was not stalling out. At the house, Matt demonstrated the 4 things that are most important to me in purchasing: quality of product, selection of product, professional collaboration and a good one-on-one feeling of trustworthiness and rapport. I decide for myself but I always want the benefit of a pro's experience and judgment relative to the category. Matt provided that, and, his "show-up" is just great. He is a very personable individual who is easy to work with, and, smart. His pricing was competitive and I ordered. Matt also promptly called back to provide the answer re: an open item of information we had talked about; I appreciated that there was no lag or ball in my court. The shipment took the length of time he estimated and he came out promptly to install the blinds, which took, like, no time at all! I loved them at once and continue to admire them every single day. I will definitley have Matt out again to help me consider his offerings relative to my main floor rooms. One BIG thing I learned from Matt is that Budget Blinds does not mean low end blinds. He said it is more like "a blind for every budget." I am certain that I did not originally consider Budget Blinds because of that misconception on my part. Nothing could be further from the truth so anyone who has a similar misperception, you can lose it. Bottom line, I am thoroughly satisfied with my dealings with Matt and would recommend Budget Blinds Bucktown to anyone.
