Description of Work: Due to a flooded basement, we needed drywall repair, insulation and painting work done through our entire formerly-finished basement. After a frustrating few months trying to get the contractor we had used in the past for a larger home renovation to actually start work, we finally fired them and called Bucktown. Barry was out that same night (this was 7:30pm on a Monday) to review what we wanted to have done. I had a written proposal that same night. Barry's guys started work two days later (would have been the next day, but we had a conflict and wanted to be there for the start). Five days later we had our finished basement back, looking great. Good quality work, fair price. Barry was there every day checking in with his guys too. Very responsive. Already starting additional projects with Barry and Bucktown.

Description of Work: We needed a rotting outside facing door replaced and 2 other carpenters passed on the work. I think because the condo door frame faced into brick.. Barry came in and said "No problem". We also needed a deck replaced on a recently repaired roof and he and his crew did a quality job at a fair price. They explained all my questions and confirmed any changes before doing them. He's a bit short in his conversations, but I take that to mean he's busy.. We're going to do our part to keep that going and recommend him for any other work we need..

Description of Work: Made repairs after I had some water damage. Drywall, insulation and painting. Went very well. I would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: Our toilet was leaking from under the tank onto the floor. The water turn-off handle had been removed by previous handyman service because it was too close to the toilet and could not be turned. Called Bucktown Home Maintenance around 5:30 on Friday afternoon and they came over right away. We got the water stopped and 2 workers returned Saturday morning and completely fixed the leak and replaced the water turn-off handle with a smaller one. Everything works perfectly.

Description of Work: Bucktown fixed two wooden border strips on the edge of the tile in the kitchen and entry and fixed a curtain hanging. A: The workers were very quick and professional. The workers finished on time. Everything was well done. B: The owner said that he'd get matching oak trim to replace the old oak trip. Instead of that, he purchased plain pine that's not as clean a match to the original. C: The owner quoted $200 for the whole job; the day of the job, he remembered $240. Should have gotten a written estimate.

Description of Work: Called Barry based on his good reviews. He asked if I could email him my contact info and the work I was looking to have done. I did, over a week a go, and still haven't heard from him. I tried calling today and his voice mail box is full. Very frustrating. After this review came out, Barry contacted me and apologized for having lost my email. He quickly came out and provided me an estimate. I have yet to make a decision as I am still in the process of getting other quotes, but I appreciated is getting back to me.
