Description of Work: These guys did a fine job. We had a whole laundry list of problems and chores. They came right over and went to work. They were fully competent, professional and did everything we asked. The final price was somewhat lower than the estimate. It is a pleasure to recommend them and we are keeping their phone number.

Description of Work: Caulked my backdoor and re-secured the metal rim to stop leaking. They were prompt, professional and worked cleanly. I feel $200 was a bit high for the actual work done, however. I would recommend them and will call them again for bigger jobs.

Description of Work: They fixed the toilet, did some try wall work on the bathroom ceiling, and touched up paint. They did a good job on everything, except they damaged our bath tub and didn't say anything. Instead they tried to cover it up with caulking. We discovered it later and Now we're left the repair our tub. That was extremely dishonest.

Description of Work: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The reason I joined Angie's List was to avoid what I experienced dealing with Barry. I called him on Monday, 4/6/15 stating I was on Angie's List and wished to have some minor handyman work done. I explained to him the work, and he asked that I email him pictures pertaining to the work I wished done. I did that right away, and the night of 4/6/15, he send me an email stating hey (MY NAME) barry here. we will email tomorrow with a time thanks. That's a direct quote. He didn't list any date, only a time. Well, I never heard from him. If you didn't want to do the work, why didn't you just tell me instead of wasting my time? This way I could have gone on and found someone else. Totally unprofessional. I'm on this service so I don't get jerked around.

Went out of his way to insure that a difficult window replacement was done properly -informing me along the way of additional time requirements. His work crew was very professional and were open to suggestions as the work progressed. Would hire them again.
Description of Work: Sanded, repaired and re-painted front porch, moved and hung new light fixture, repaired broken side window and painted and repaired window trim and fascia.

 + 10 moreMy boyfriend and I just bought our first home. It was as is and had a lot of work to be done. I called 5 different handymen. I wanted to hire bucktown home and maintenance but we are very into reviews and checking them for references. This company is new and did not have many (just 2) so that made me nervous. Their owner Barry took 45 minutes out of his day to talk to me about all of my concerns and even with my apprehension about the reviews we took the chance and we hired him. We have never regretted that decision and could not be happier with the decision. The work was prompt and affordable. The crew was meticulous and detail oriented. They were respectful of the property and always cleaned up and locked up. We pretty much gave them keys and just let them go to town. We would come home every night and so much would be done. Everything with this company was top notch. I changed my mind alot and made some changes and Barry the owner along with his crew just rolled with the punches and made sure that I was happy. I could not be happier. Last night was the first night that we slept there with all of our belongings. It feels like a dream home and I owe that to Bucktown Home and Maintenance. I would reommend them to everyone for a variety of jobs. They really can do it all! Before you hire anyone else call "Bucktown Barry" (that is what I call him) and give him the opportunity to give you your dream home.
Description of Work: I gave them a to do list. It included painting, tile back splash, tile in a shower, repaired a sump pump, repaired a toilet, took down and installed all new closet doors, Fix a sink disposal, install a water line for an ice maker, install new closet lights, install ceiling fans, install light fixtures, wood work, base boards, concrete repairs, dry wall replacement, tv mounted, speaker wired in wall, and cable relocation.

Description of Work: I had a problem with some kitchen lights and wanted some work done on my windows. They replaced the transformer for the lights and gave me a recommendation on the proper lights to use. Also, they put up insulating film on my windows and caulked the spaces between my walls and floor on my outside wall.

They were courteous and explained their recommendation before proceeding. I'll definitely hire them for future projects.
Description of Work: Repaired garage doorframe damaged from a burglary. Replaced damaged portion of the doorjam, repaired receptacles for the deadbolt lock and doorknob, reinforced door to prevent future breakins.
