Blue Sky replaced our 25-year-old roof and deck (flat roof and Trex deck, privacy screens and guard rails). Chris and his team were efficient and professional, cleaned up after every day, and did excellent work. The team created a gate for us as an emergency exit to our neighboring unit, and installed a simple yet elegant solution for the latches to be opened from either side. We love our new deck!

After 50 years, it was time for a tear-off on my flat-roofed office building. I checked their work at each stage of the process and all was done very well. This job was done in 2015 and my roof still looks great

Very well. They came on time, did a great job and cleaned up the mess.

Chris is always super responsive and professional. When most roofers didn't want to even come give us an estimate for small-fish repairs, his team gladly came out and performed repairs needed. Wonderful customer service. Will use them again.

My overall experience was exceptional. Carlos of Blue Sky initially came to my home and spent as much time as needed in explaining the repair or replacement alternatives with me and was very considerate regarding my specific roof concerns and financial constraints. He was very patient in helping me make the best decision and allowed me some promised flexibility after the work began. The Blue Sky team that performed the work over the course of a week were diligent and showed-up ready to go everyday. The end product was excellent. There was also some incidental damage caused due to a severe rainstorm during the work week that couldn't have been prevented by the Blue Sky team, however, Carlos took the necessary steps to timely restore the slightly damaged area to a condition that was better than before the rainstorm occurred. Very commendable. Overall a professional and dedicated group, which I would strongly recommend from both quality of work and cost perspectives!

A representative from Blue Sky came out to look at our roof and then failed to provide a quote for services despite repeated calls on our part.

Initial inspection seemed professional, but no quote or response to phone calls for weeks after initial consult. I am a busy professional taking time out of my day to meet you at my home, if you can't get me a quote, fine, but at least give me a call back. I may amend this review if I do receive a response.

The work took two approximately 8 hour days. The old shingles and covering were off after about 5 hours. The crew spent the rest of the time putting on the new shield paper and shingles. There were only about two to three nail pops in the drywall inside the finished attic so it seems they were pretty careful with the nailing. It has been six months since the work was done and everything still is great. No leaks inside or shingles damaged by the wind. The company representatives were good with answering questions before the work was done and with keeping the customer informed with the progress while the work was going on.

Great! They came the day it was scheduled and finished when they said they would. This in spite of having to stop work in the afternoon to cover the roof with a tarp because of a rain storm. Job was competed and cleaned up the next day with no damage to the house or landscape.

We were satisfied with the results.

Very frustrating having them come out and then never call you back or email you an estimate.

The Issue: Had a front corner post whose cement base started sinking due to the most Winter we experienced. The corner section of the roof was noticeably sagging by a significant amount. The Solution: Pictures were taken of the post and roof and sent to Chris at Blue Sky Roofing. Chris responded with an estimate and said it would take just over a day to complete. It was made known to Chris that the project was hoping to get completed by the middle of April the absolute latest. Chris sent 2 men over 2 days later and they: 1) Secured the roof with wood framing 2) Removed the dirt \ landscaping 3) Removed the cement block and all the cement in the ground 4) Poured the cement for the footing 5) The next day they framed and poured the cement for the square box around the pole (this took a couple hours) 6) The day after they returned to remove the wooden frame around the newly poured cement box 7) All the dirt \ landscaping was relocated to its original position 8) The roof was now again straight But, they did not stop there. They caulked 2 section of the roof and made sure the job was acceptable. Their work was oustanding all the way around from all directions! They will utilized by us for all future projects!

All went well. Very professional.

Carlos Vaca came out to look at our roof and give an estimate. I accepted his estimate out of 5 choices because of his professionalism, best options, clear explanations, and best overall pricing. His men came out one day earlier than originally estimated (and arrived 30 minutes earlier than promised) and worked quickly. They did a terrific job, and left a completely clean work site when finished. Carlos followed up with a phone call to make sure we were satisfied, to see if we had any questions, and to give us further instructions re: maintaining the roof going forward (especially being sure to clean off the leaves from the nearby trees once a year.) We were totally satisfied and happy with the job.

Overall they did a fine job. Not perfect, but no major complaints.

Overall a positive experience. Work was done well, on time and on budget. Would work with Blue Sky again.

Chris and his team are consummate professionals. We first used them when we had to repair the condo roof after a bad storm. During a subsequent inspection, he saw that the flashing on the 3rd floor addition was installed incorrectly. Throughout both projects, Chris was extremely helpful and responsive. And the quality of the work done was superior. I highly recommend Blue Sky to anyone.

This is the 2nd job i've had Blue Sky do. The first was constructing a roof deck. They installed the deck, planters, a privacy screen and artificial grass. They did a great job. They were always very professional and on time. If I had an issue, Chris was quick to address it. On the 2nd job, they renovated a bathroom from top to bottom. They also fabricated a new mantle in my living room for my fireplace and replaced the tile for it as well and lastly re did the kitchen backsplash. All the jobs were done fabulously. We did an initial walk through on what I wanted and they ran with it. They were quick to ask for answers if they had any questions. In the end the job was great. I'd highly recommend them.

The roofers had to remove five layers of roof, including cedar shingles, from our 1896 home. This was a really dirty job on a steep roof. The old layers just disintegrated and dumped sand-like black dirt over everything. The roofers protected my neighbor?s properties and mine with tarps and boards. To my surprise they did an excellent job cleaning up. (I still had to clean up some, but believe me, they did the lion?s share on that!) The roofers were also covered with the black stuff. The job was not easy, and they also installed all new sheathing on the main roof because we only had, the original to the house, spaced deck boards on the main roof. These guys worked two twelve-hour days in getting the house roof done. They spent another half day doing the garage roof. They are very hard workers, and they are very polite and respectful. They also found, upon removing the roof layers and tar, on the main roof, that my chimney was in really bad condition so they had a mason come and repair the chimney. They also did some gutter work on the east side of our property, and they did some siding work for us. These guys worked fast and did a good job. They really do know what they are doing. It looks great! There were a couple of issues: -The repairs to the chimney were made and apparently the masons had cut away some newly installed sheathing to do the repairs and then they just covered that with tar paper and flashing. We could see the sheathing gap and light coming in through the attic. We let the roofers know, and they did promptly come back to fix that. We had another company, that specializes in chimneys, come to inspect the rest of the chimney, and to give us a quote on a liner, and they said the work on the chimney and the flashing and shingling around the chimney were done really well, so we are happy with that! -Another group of guys, not the roofers, did the gutters and we also had to have them come back and make some minor adjustments. -Also, we have flashing on our lower back roof, which matches our light colored siding. The roofers used dark brown caulk on the nail holes there and, when coming in the house from the garage, it looked like there was some kind of fringe or ragged shingles running along the place were the wall meets the roof. My husband and I painted the caulk spots to match the flashing and now it looks very nice and finished. -They also broke a side storm window. I?m actually surprised that, with five layers of roofing coming down on a steep roof with no solid sheathing, they only broke one. There was a lot of material on the roof from the last hundred years. The window was an easy fix and they paid for it. -We ordered the upgrade to Tiger Paw synthetic underlayment for the main house, but the roofers only used it on the main roof. I noticed that they installed felt on the front overhang and lower back roof. Blue Sky Roofing gave us a credit for that. All these issues are relatively minor, and Carlos was more than helpful and very willing to work with us. He is very responsive to any inquires and calls, so we didn?t have to wait around for an answer. Also, the siding work they did for us was a true bonus. I doubt anyone else would have wanted to do it. The front overhang was re-roofed a decade ago and the roofers did a sloppy job. They left a gap where the siding j-channel meets the roofing materials. It looked awful. Those roofers said there was no way they could fix that. Carlos, and Blue Sky Roofing, helped us with that and, through some creative strategies, they were able to make that area on the front of our home look a hundred times better. All in all we are very happy with the work and would hire them again. This is an update to the original posting on Angie’s List where I gave this company A ratings in all areas. I really wanted to love this company. They were responsive and they answered my questions, and they came back to repair the issues that I found prior to my having paid them. The work seemed good from the ground, and their people worked 12-hour days in 95-degree weather in July. However, 9 months after they completed work, a piece of the siding in the front of the house, that they had last touched, came loose and was hanging. They charged me $150 to come out and put a nail in it because it “was a side job, and not covered under “warranty”. I accepted that without complaint. Then, 2 years ago, I called about replacing my deck and never heard back. I figured maybe they were too busy at the time. Now, three years later, the gutter they installed on the west side of my property fell off. The cost, with another contractor, to replace the gutter and make repairs to the roof where the gutter attached - $1,650. The contractor, who fixed the issue, said that the people who installed the gutter that fell didn’t know how to install gutters. I’m hoping the roof work Blue Sky did is good and that only the siding and gutter guys were not very good. I’m waiting to see if the other work they did holds up. Anyhow, I’m downgrading my previous rating. I had recommended them to friends/neighbors in the past but will no longer be able to do so. I wanted to love this company and give them the best ratings possible, but I think we’re done.

I first scheduled Blue Sky in the summer of 2014 .. The work was scheduled for a Saturday morning, and I was home when the crew arrived. Chris, who we had initially met with and suggested the repairs, was not there and the crew that was present could not communicate in English. Some questions came up, and there were no answers because of the communication barrier. Chris was not available for my calls. It all worked out, but it was an exhausting process. Luckily it was a small job. In summer of 2015 I called Chris again to come look at another issue with my gutter/downspout system. I waited patiently for 3 weeks for them to schedule the job, and again they scheduled me on a Saturday morning. Sensing a repeat of my previous experience, I asked Chris if any of his guys that would be at my house are able to communicate in English. Chris wrote me an email back and responded that he couldn't "meet my needs" and canceled the job entirely. I never would have guessed that being able to communicate with a crew working on my house was too much to ask. I was more surprised by his bratty response to a rather benign question. I really feel however that this was a major blessing in disguise. After having 4 other roofers over to provide quotes .. every single one of them thought that 'solution' Chris proposed was a very bad choice.

The experience with Blue Sky was excellent from the beginning. They were very responsive in getting us an estimate and followed up immediately with questions and changes in the scope of the work. They offered suggestions, such as cladding the facia, to save future time and cost on painting. They pulled the permit for the work, which saved me time and aggravation. They arrived early on the scheduled day and got to work immediately. The crew worked very quickly and efficiently, and they were done in less than a day. The shingles are an excellent match to the existing shingles on the house. They work appears to be of very high quality. In addition to the shingles they had to replace most of the facia boards and a part of the soffit. The clean-up work was truly exceptional; I couldn't tell they'd been there except for the new shingles and newly-cladded facia! I have not found a single nail or any related trash since they left. This has been, without a doubt, the best experience I've had with a roofing contractor. I would use them again, without reservation, for a roofing project.

We worked mainly with Carlos and his team. Everything went well-- the work they did met our expectations. Because the masonry came before the gutter work, there were some damaged bricks that did not get addressed -- we had to wait for a gap in jobs, but they came back to finish the work. Overall, very good experience.
