The guys got there exactly on time and got to work right away. I had packed everything myself and had boxes labeled. I had a 1 bedroom apartment and was moving into another 1 bedroom apartment. The men on the job were Drew, Jose, and Steven. All 3 were extremely kind and efficient. They worked very hard and I can tell they were utilizing their time very well. Both apartments had a unique set up in that moving things in and out of the building was not easy. They were somehow able to get everything in and out in a good amount of time. When I moved into the new apartment they put together the boxes in a very neat and organized way. The original quote was at 2-3 hours for a 1 bedroom apartment. Because of the unique layout that I mentioned earlier, the whole move took about 5 hours. As a single woman living by herself, I was a little concerned being on my own with 3 men. I can say that I felt very comfortable around all 3 men and they made me feel safe.

Satisfied repeat customer! Less than 2 years later and we found ourselves moving again so I contacted Blankenship Movers. Same great experience with day 1 being a full pack of our 2,200 square foot house and day 2 being our move. Friendly, professional, and fun group. I was happy to see Rudy and Drew again. They are wonderful people. Efficient pack and move with nothing lost or damaged. Reasonably priced and trustworthy. You are in good hands with Blankenship. Highly recommend!

Blankenship was really awesome to work with, they were reasonably priced, showed up on time, and did a great job of moving us, on relatively short notice. Sean the owner is responsive, personally answers phone calls and emails, and was there from start to finish to make sure we were happy and taken care of. You can really tell that they care about their clients and business, this is what makes them stand out from the larger companies, their exceptional customer service, they are truly "stand up" good people to work with. Hire them, you will be happy!

Blankenship movers were amazing - Phil, Rudy, Jason, and Pablo were on time, efficient, and professional. We moved in the middle of a snow storm but the men had shovels and salt to clear the way and moved quickly despite the wet and cold. The best part is they were positive and accommodating the whole time. I've moved 8 times in the last 10 years and this was easiest, most enjoyable move I've had.

We were completely impressed with Blankenship. They moved us on 1/30/19, the second coldest day in Chicago history. Because of our situation, we HAD to move that day. They came up with a creative solution that was a win-win. We absolutely loved working with them. They had such camaraderie--7 guys who appeared to really enjoy working together, in 25 below zero weather! And there was nothing they said no to. "Can you fit this desk in that room?" "Of course we can! No problem!" I would recommend Blankenship without hesitation. We actually hugged each other after the move!

Thank you Sean and the Blankenship Crew! To say that "moving and finding a professional and reputable moving service can be overwhelming is an understatement" is an understatement. After an extensive search and review of moving companies and several telephone interviews I choose Blankenship Movers. I dealt with Sean who assured me that Blankenship was a Chicago Neighborhood business and that I would experience none of the shenanigans that so many experience with big name National movers. My move would not be an easy one. I had two properties, one residential and one commercial, that had to be vacated within 2 days of closing. Sean was right there regularly checking in as we waited for our closing to be scheduled and completed. On moving day the 6 man, 2 truck crew arrived on time and ready to go! After a quick walk through to best assess where to begin they got to it! They never seemed to stop! They worked so well together. Not once did I hear a grumble or complaint. Not once was there frustration expressed with each other or towards myself. Every time I tried to be of help I was politely told thank you sir but we got this. Several family members came to help with some of the million or so little things there are to do and were all blown away with the crews work ethic and professionalism. My family nicknamed them the "A-Team!" The Crew's quality shined even brighter when we got to our new home to unload. They could not have been more careful with our furniture or the floors and walls of our new home as they moved everything inside. They placed everything where we asked even rearranging one room that was already set up without complaint. Sean, Very sincerely, thank you so very much for all your and your crew's help! The worst move I've ever had. A crew of inexperienced workers who damaged so much of my belongings that it boggles my mind. A simple move from a condo to a storage facility took them over 12 hours.

They were fast and efficient. They allotted enough personnel for the job. The movers acted professionally at all times. They did drop a lamp but it was an accident and the lamp wasn't worth much. Their price is on the high side compared to their competitors. However, when it comes to movers, you get what you pay for. The previous movers I used were cheaper, but their movers were rude, offensive, insulting, worked slowly on purpose, didn't allocate enough movers for the job, and tried pressuring us to give a larger tip. The Blankenship movers were nothing like those guys. I tipped these guys well for a job well done. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I recommend them without any reservation.

The guys showed up, were very sensitive to my wishes, and worked fast. It was a positive, normal experience until it wasn't. The big picture is that we were moving in with family for a few months so we could sell our old home in Chicago and purchase our new home in Denver. Our belongings were in storage for maybe 3 or so months. When we unpacked, we couldn't find my wife's jewelry. I know, my wife's priceless family heirlooms should never have been packed alongside everything else in the first place. She was having a hard time because she was pregnant and stressed out. I call the owner, and we have a series of conversations. We were both very professional, and I was surpised at how empathetic and caring the owner was about my situation. Long story short, we found our jewelry, Blankenship did nothing wrong, and the owner was the epitome of customer service throughout the process. I am so pleased with them. It might sound like we made a big mistake, but if you havent moved when life is tough, you will learn you need people you can trust to help you through those times. Blankenship's belongs on that list. I paid $580 to have them load a 3 bedroom house.

It was a small job, but they worked with me on price and delivery to Habitat. The 2 guys who moved the stuff couldn’t have been nicer or more polite. Most importantly, they didn’t scratch or ding the furniture or my walls!

Having had issues with other moving companies in the past, I was so happy with Blankenship. From the initial estimate process through the entire move we didn't really have any complaints. We were moving from a 3rd floor condo in Chicago to a split level in Buffalo Grove. The estimate was spot on and didn't contain any hidden fees or expenses. The moving crew arrived within the time window we were told and were very professional. They handled our furniture and fragile items perfectly. The crew was really terrific. Manny, Carl, Jesus & Martin were efficient and I didn't feel as though they were dragging to try to extend the time. Overall a good experience. I would definitely contact this company again if we have to move in the future. I wish I had come across them sooner for prior moves. Thanks again!

The moving crew was awesome. They came on time and finished work on time. The estimate given was accurate and final amount was right on par. Special mention to Fredo, Dante and Martin for excellent service.

In preparation for a room remodel,I needed large pieces of furniture moved from by basement to my main floor. This company spoke with me very pleasantly about my small (to them) job and agreed to move the furniture up and then put it back. Both times they sent two extremely competent and absolutely delightful young men who worked efficiently and with great care for my furniture. It was a pleasure to deal with this company.

Scheduling snafu, as the company scheduled a Saturday move for Sunday, despite my re-confirmation on the Thursday before the move. After the crew was obviously not showing up that morning, I contacted the company and received a courteous explanation that the company scheduled my move for Sunday, saying they didn't have complete address information, but that doesn't wash since they knew how to reach me if there were any questions AND I CONFIRMED ON THURSDAY THAT THE MOVE WAS SET FOR THAT SATURDAY. Once a crew was secured and sent out, the foreman could not have been more polite and courteous, but there was a lot of negative trash talk going on between some of the movers that we all witnessed. It was extremely unprofessional, awkward, and very embarrassing. The move itself went fine with only a couple of bumps into door corners that we'll have to touch up (absolutely no biggie). Nothing broken during the move. The crew moved quickly, carefully, and got the move done efficiently, SO - despite the schedule confusion, they reacted quickly, secured guys and a truck, and the move took place on the day promised, just four hours later than agreed-to. Still, I'd think twice before booking them again.

Walter set me up and he helped me with the size of truck. Very nice and helpful. I knew the travel between houses was an hour but we did underestimate the labor. No ones fault, but a few pieces took longer to move than expected. The 2 delivery men were committed to doing a safe and thorough job - with a sense of humor which helped with our stress levels! I would use and recommend them again!!!

From the first call with the receptionist, who was extremely pleasant to speak with to having Joseph and his team arrive on site (early!), we had a great experience! They were very efficient and got the move done in less than 2 hours and even helped move additional items to our van so that they could be dropped off at a local Salvation Army. Nothing damaged, they were speedy, friendly, and made me laugh out loud often! Really enjoyed having them in our house. We will hire them to move out out of the house and into our new house - THEY ARE GREAT!

The move occurred late as it was scheduled the previous day when assistance from 5 other guys were available. Scheduled on Saturday and a block or window of time was provided. There were three guys already doing a job that morning, and movers were going to stop by and pick up my items between 1-4pm. By 230 300 pm came along, I had not heard anything from the office or the team. My inquiry provided me info that the previous move was winding down, but it would be approx 3 hours to wrap up and make their way back into the city. The team of personal friends that was assisting me since I recently had surgery had been there since 12 noon and at this point keeping them to start at 7pm and finishing at 11 pm didn’t not sound reasonable at all. I was also concerned about how the moving team, them being tired, and the value I would realize with a team of great movers, but was wore out by this time. The mgmt or dispatch called me and advised they were on their way- I then inquired about a Sunday move in the am vs Saturday. He spoke to the team and they agreed to Sunday. On Sunday it rained the majority of the day. The driver put the truck in the travel lane on one of the busiest residential streets. I advised I felt, which was done most of the time was to use the alley. The lead saw that we had the majority of the crates packed and taped. While it was only a 1 br w den, the furniture was significant in size and weight as the furniture is solid wood pieces. For the most part the team of helpers the resident had - crates, and wrapped the majority of the furniture, art, and etc. The difficulty was the following: (1) raining- it slowed the team down by approx 25%- That is due to the rain and loss productivity that the 3 guys experienced when they came out of the house. Every single time - drivers were honking and asking for help to get around this one way street. There were vans that had special needs that were told to back up and move around for others, there were individuals yelling due to their frustration and once they cursed at the movers they proceed to curse back and run down the street calling them names as they experienced from the people in cars that were delayed by the truck. I mentioned it would be beneficial to have a sign further up the street that states resident moving, there will be delays—- but that was ignored. 3/4th into the move, scheduled for 4 to 6 hours, we were not completed getting items on the truck. Due to the time, I selected the remaining items to get in the truck knowing it had to be unloaded. Due to the traffic and complaints- The police came by and was there for two hours. At various times the team was advised that the traffic and people needed to get around them and they should move the truck. The police once witnessing the hostility between the drivers and several movers- the police blocked off a parckubg space and advised them to move into- allowing drivers full access to the road. Like most we did provide breakfast and drinks through the day. On the way to the drop off, the movers stopped for. An hour lunch / dinner. There was a u haul that was rented to allow us to finish packing the house and bring over once this truck was sent to the new apartment. This is a cost we incurred. But overall we incurred a cost of lost help as the team of 5 people we had could only stay a few hours the next am. Through the day I overheard several workers discuss how tired they were from the previous day- but I tell u they were doing as much they physically could do. The 3 items on the second truck, that we loaded and moved over as it was rather larger pieces that I could not handle alone. The team unloaded 1 of the three. The team advised to call them back to unload them once placement of inside items was completed. I noted on this delivery invoice at approx 10 pm that my card was not to be billed until I speak to the mgmt team. You are also put in an awkward situation being told to rate them and they see themselves as excellent- Which as a profession I would say they are good, however the leadership, mgmt of the project overall, as many of the cara that took issue with the movers will remember to NOT USE THEM in the future. How they handle themselves after the primary part of the job is also important. The next day, the office called me twice, unfortunately, after the first call they had already billed me for essentially the clock time. I advised the loss of productivity for each addressing the rain or the passer by’s, the extra money I incurred with the love because my 5 resources were not available on the Sunday move, but was there on Saturday as expected. And the inability for the team to take up an armoire, and a table to the second floor apartment. That interaction started with two workers who dely pianos and large furniture, that this was a Re do and the two of them would not be paid. When suggested to remove the large doors and drawers - they advised it would be 75.00 for each of them. I told them to speak to the office- They left without bringing it up or even trying to do so once the doors and drawers were removed. ( this is a solid crotch mahagony Ralph Lauren armoire) They left rhe55” round table on the ground which required me to get it back on the truck, and then I had to incur another day of rental on the van. Still today I moved the 2 pieces of furniture to storage charging me 80.00 month as these pieces of furn cost approx 9,000. This is going into my second month of rental without resolution . I have been told they will contact me and they have not. When I advised a potential adjustment to the bill, I was advised “no absolutely not”. My people were there and it was an estimate. 600 to 900 estimate ending up being 1400 is a bad estimate. I feel safeguards should be put in place to reassess at the start, hourly provide the est time to complete and raise a red flag when this financial overrun occurs. Just like any project- it allows the leads to assess the status and make adjustments as required to mitigate any risk to the delivery , scooe of the project and budget. In this case it was just assumed that the customer did not care about the cost of the move which is inaccurate. I attempted to mitigate what I felt was excess cost to me by signing the invoice as to contact me before billing. I even advised them before the 2 pm financial cycle ran to void my invoice or to lower to the estimate. I called Rem on three occasions as they wanted me to provide a new card not my debit.... since I moved many things were packed up and I didn’t have access, so Sean allowed it to be billed with this overage- Not warranted by the substandard outcome. They new as I mentioned once that payment goes through it would be difficult for me to reverse or adjust it. This isn’t the level of professionalism I expected by a company on Angie’s list and given I did not sign the initial agreement, I am going to be forced to have the bank intervene. Unfortunately- I was working within a budget given a significant expense I had incurred last year given my mothers death unexpectedly. The management and oversight of her estate and the attorneys that I have been forced to hire legal to resolve some critical issues with the facility and providers of care is significant. While I will not go into much more detail- the unilateral decision to charge essentially the clock time vs the quality and outcome of the job demonstrates how as a good paying customer at this point, is treated without respect, empathy, and regards to future business. THE MGMT inability to listen and understand the customers concern and to not follow customers direction for payment - I would serious think twice about using their services without signing a flat rate for the total job.- along with incentitive to the customer when goals are not maintained. Just as we are seeing in healthcare- pay for performance in various key operational indicators. Mgmt will then take a broader look at the job being completed. All the good work by the movers unfortunately was overshadowed my a few people in mgmt and the office. Thanks KG

I needed a hot tub moved on short notice. Lou brought his crew of six and arrived ahead of schedule. The tub needed to be moved from one home to another and it couldn't have gone better. It was indoors at the starting location and had to be carried through the house and out the front door. The crew moved quickly, but carefully and cleaned up completely at our starting point. They got the spa unloaded and set it to my requested specs at my home. The entire process was less than 2 hours and they made it look easy. Truly professional moving, courteous service and the job was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them and would use them again. Thanks guys!

I had a very short distance move from a 2nd floor apartment to a house. From my initial conversation to receive an estimate this was a great experience. The quote given was based on a room by room outline of what I was movingg. The day of my move Brian, Jason and Martin were great. The estimated move time was spot on.

Blankenship was AWESOME. Our team of 4 men were the hardest working people we have ever met. They were on time, worked hard, and were courteous and polite. Would definitely hire again.
