The three man crew I hired was very punctual. While they didn't have a good overall grasp on how long the move would take they did their best to complete the job as quickly as possible. Thankfully I moved into a condo and won't be needing their services again anytime soon, but when/if I move I would definitely use this company again.

It worked well. The thing that stood out the most was the fact that they were timely.

Brian, Alberto and Carl arrived on time and went to work immediately. Carl informed me about the possible extra charge of shrink wrap in case I exceeded the included amount, as well as the cost of extra hours. I did not purchase the Angie's List deal because the individual who contacted me (Eric, I believe) informed me that he was going to give me the same deal. I know I paid for the service, but I really did appreciate the fact that they hauled my box spring & mattress and placed it behind the trash bin and disassembled the bed frame; handled with care my awkward, old tv (we're talking boob tube, not flat screen) - which had no handles; managed to bring down my also old and awkward treadmill; cleared my storage area, and handled with care my even more old and awkward armoire - which was super heavy. I wanted that armoire in my new home's basement, but it would not fit around the stairwell corner w/out some serious disassembling. The alternative was to have it upstairs in one of the bedrooms - but the turn at the stair landing would not allow it either. So Brian and Carl managed to LIFT the thing - which I am sure is as heavy as a tree! - while Alberto received it from the 2nd floor loft area OVER the bannister! What's even better? There was no damage to the armoire and no damage to the bannister. That.was.impressive. Tip for people moving: have most of your things packed! It would have cost more if my sister and I hadn't packed the night before. The only complaint I have is that they left shrink wrap. Just kidding, Carl! :) I would recommend these guys and would hire them again!

All three men worked very quickly to get this move accomplished in the two hour window. I was impressed with how respectful the guys were of the furniture they moved but also of the respect they showed to an elderly gentleman!

Showed up on time, were courteous and careful, worked hard, got it done.

Johnny, Manny, and Silas were all great! They were friendly and professional. Most importantly, they were not only careful with my belongings but were also careful not to damage the walls, elevators, etc...in the building where I live. I would definitely recommend them to other Angie's List Members.

Fantastic. 3 man crew. 3 great guys who did not stop moving until they hide everything out of my house. Packed everything that needed packing. Provided hanging boxes for clothing. Quickly moved everything to their truck. BROKE NOTHING. DAMAGED NOTHING. Met me over at my new home. Again, quickly moved my belongings into my new home. Placed the boxes where I had marked and asked. Moved things from one room to another as I asked. Again, broke or damaged NOTHING. They were prompt, professional, good natured and provided the services they advertised at an excellent price. I can and will recommend the to friends and family who need moving services. Angies list does it again.

I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to recognize the outstanding service from Blankenship Movers last week. After a little confusion with my move date due to another reservation under a similar name, Eric was able to schedule a team for my original reservation time. Thanks Eric! In fact, the team was able to arrive 2 hours early! Derek, Leroy and Jim were not only true professionals, but were a pleasure to work with :-) There were extremely careful with all of my belongings, and everything arrived undamaged. The team was also extremely efficient, they make it look so easy! I highly recommend Blankenship Movers to everyone!

My appointment was scheduled for the afternoon, but the driver called to ask if they could come early. It was great that they could do that, because they completed the whole move before rush hour and dinner time. These guys were dressed a little rough and were all heavy smokers, not exactly demonstrating "professionalism" in their appearance, BUT their performance and behavior is what counts most! They moved with safety, speed, and preventing damage in mind the entire time. They asked questions frequently about how I wanted specific things handled and explained any additional costs for things. The charges were in line with what I expected from the estimate. There was a travel time charge on the final order that didn't match my quote, and I noted it with "WILL CALL" and my initials and signed the completion document. I didn't get the chance to call them, because the man who quoted called me first. He honored my quote and charged correctly. The only "extra" I paid for was plastic wrap on a wardrobe cabinet. Two of the guys were quite experienced movers and they were training a 3rd younger man. They strapped and carried 3 - 4 boxes at a time on their backs down the stairs with a 180° turn on a narrow landing. The lead man was initially concerned that they wouldn't be able to get everything into the truck, but in the end, it was almost an exact fit to the size of the truck. Only moving a few blocks away, we could easily have made a second trip. It seemed very strange to me, but they thanked me profusely for having everything packed before they arrived. People who don't pack must end up paying a fortune to move and the moving companies must go crazy with guessing for scheduling. They disassembled our beds and wrapped furniture that they were concerned might be "flimsy" - like bookcases. One poorly constructed press board bookcase broke in the process for just this reason. In lining up their ramp to the front steps of the new place, they nudged the stairs a bit, separating the wood - but no permanent damage - just had to hammer the nails to press it back together. The important part is that they didn't try to hide it, or minimize it - pointing it out and apologizing...making sure I assessed it with them on the spot, the instant it happened.

An office guy I called thought my move might take 3-4 hours so more than the 2-hour $330 Angie's list deal. The additional charge would be $30/15 minutes. My move took 3 hours so the total cost was $450 ($330 + $120). I normally hate tipping but movers were fast so I was happy to tip the three movers $30 making my final cost $480. There were some oddities. When a mover was calculating the bill, he used their $120/hr. rate to get $360. I told him the deal was $330 and he had a copy of the Angie's list deal. He said he's done this many times, but eventually said it was an office error and billed me $330 for the first two hours. I was going to add my tip to my credit charge, but he said they issues with Blankenship taking out taxes or paying them, so I tipped in cash. I thought they used 3 wardrobe boxes. The coats are in the foyer closet. Other clothes are in an upstairs closet. But those don't look like nearly all the clothes mom had at the retirement home, and I don't see them in any other closet It's as if they forgot to unload one wardrobe box. Things were so hectic that I didn't notice until later. I called the office two days ago on 9/28/15. The lady said she would ask someone and someone would get back but I haven't gotten a call yet.

I had to cancel with them and have someone else do it - then the guy I talked with on the phone was trying to put the fault on me for not telling them how much furniture I had. I was scheduled for 3:00pm, and showed up at 6:45pm.

It went well. They arrived - the truck with 3 people in a timely manner and got the job done in the prescribed amount of time - 2 hours.

This company takes care of their reputation very seriously. They called me right away after I expressed some dissatisfaction about the moving. They solved issue right away. So if you run into any problem, don't like me, you need to call the office to reach Eric right away. He will help you solve any problem during the move. I understand not every move is perfect, but Eric will help you make it perfect. I like their business attitude. Thanks Eric for making the ending perfect.

It went great. They were on time, worked steady, no breaks.

Eric was very professional and informative on the phone, explaining everything before I needed to ask, answering questions, and providing me a quote very quickly. Movers introduced themselves, asked me to layout which furniture to move, pointed out any defects beforehand, didn't damage anything. It was a hot day, nice guys, and they were very fast too, came in under estimate. Thanks for the great work, guys!

The movers did an excellent job under the circumstances. Carrying heavy items/boxes in the summer time from the third floor downstairs and still keeping a pleasant/professional attitude was a plus and appreciated. All the items arrived in the same condition as the departure.

We had the move scheduled just afew days before the move, and they were able to accommodate us into their busy schedule. The movers were professional, and the customer service was A+++.

Blankenship Movers was terrible. First, they called me on two different occasions with the wrong moving date. I became worried that they would not show up on the actual date of our move. I proactively emailed them a list of everything we were moving two weeks before the move. When the movers arrived, I was informed there was an extra $250 piano move charge, which made the "deal" I had purchased moot. They ended up waiving the fee after I called and spoke with Eric, but on the back end I got charged for materials and supplies, which also were supposed to be included in the "deal," but I did not have the energy to haggle again. I had unfortunately also referred the deal to my sister-in-law, and I heard from her that they showed up over 6 hours late for her move. She also had not been informed of a piano charge which made her deal moot. I have used many movers and this was by far my worst experience. Moving is already so hard and expensive, you just want a competent company that coordinates the process smoothly and for the agreed upon price. This is not what you will get from Blankenship Movers.

Blankenship movers did a very good job. The 3 gentlemen they sent were very pleasant to deal with. They took the time to address my concerns and were willing to put up with me chatting with them as they worked. While they did take longer than the last moving company I used they did take more care to make sure none of my belongings were damaged. I would absolutely use them again and I would recommend them to others.

They were excellent! Arrived even earlier than scheduled after speaking with me and did the move very quickly! They were careful with all my big furniture to not break or damage any of my belongings. I didn't have any grand piano or anything of the size, but my staircase in the house is pretty narrow and they were careful when moving my furniture into the 2nd floor rooms. They had good communication with eachother during the whole process and definitely showed efficiency. Really enjoyed working with them and highly recommend them again.

I'd Like to say that my experience with Blankenship Movers was excellent. I dealt with Eric who is one of the most fair, professional people in the industry. He is responsive and really knows how to take care of his customers. I was very impressed with how fast and hard the staff worked to meet my deadlines. There were a few issues due to the hectic nature of most moves, but Eric and his staff were able to seamlessly work through all of them. I would definitely recommend Blankenship Movers if you are looking for an efficient, cost effective move. They are top notch, and I would not use anyone else. Thank you Eric and your staff!

It went really bad. I hired them in June 2015 to do a big move. The move was from one house to to two different location (an apartment and a storage with dock to dock delivery), Several Issues: 1) 1st move was 4 bedroom house with basement (lots of stuff) with 5 guys and 2 big trucks. It moved from Oswego, IL to an hour north closer to Chicago (Des Plaines and Northfield). It was a big move and cost around $1,400. This moved was 2nd move from the storage to Chicago about 11-12 miles and only 20% of the total stuff. It cost me much more than 20% of $1,400.00. 2) While the 1st move, one of the guys, Adam damaged my wall. It was pretty deep as he left my heavy couch standing up unattended. Eric (manager) does not want to reimburse me as a courtesy, which I asked. He wants me to provide a breakdown of what my landlord has charged me. That is no concern of his. I may rent this place or own it. All I asked it based on the damage, reimburse me a reasonable amount as a customer service. There is no denying the damage was done and pictures sent with all guys being aware. I asked him to reimburse the difference on the 2nd move as Eric told me to get the $330.00 voucher on Angies List. 3) Moreover, the guys took so much time commuting due to truck not passing through the overpass/bridge. If you knew that the stuff is going in the city (11 miles from Des Plaines pick up location dock to dock), they should not have sent such a huge truck. The company should have sent a small truck. Specially, for a limited one bedroom stuff. What I received was a meager $30 credit. 4) They sent 3 guys; Manny (the truck driver) was the only one who didn't need any direction. The other two seemed needed constant direction from Manny to do the next step. Looked like for small jobs, they sent one experienced person. And, the rest are in training. That is how they can get more money out of you.

Late arrival resulted in a challenging situation in which new furniture was delivered before move was complete, therefore competing for the elevator. The crew worked hard and were friendly and helpful. If I used them again, I would insist on unloading their carts outside, as my floors took a beating. I think they would benefit from a better method of transporting things from the truck.

The men were very good with the time that they gave me, and it was done on Sunday which I appreciated! They moved on the furniture, the rugs that I had, and especially on the oil paintings, and I would use them again! They were also very good on the time and the delivery to the place that I had!
