They were good. They send inexperienced guys to just do superficial check. The expert came out and I was impressed with him. He offered to do some work at $280 an hour for labor which was quite extraordinary. But I thought he was knowledgeable. I would use them again but I'm not sure about their cost. I thought the price I paid for the visit was good. I think I paid $40 for the initial visit. It should be $80 but they gave me a discount. They didn't do anything to solve the problem. The estimate was $1,500 for the labor. The second visit by the expert was good, he did something that no one else did. He analyzed it completely differently. He also told me that he doesn't guarantee anything being done, that it would solve the problem.

Mentally I was prepared to have to purchase a new unit,not finacially but mentally. I knew I could not go through another winter wiith incosistent heat. I called Besco because of Angie's review and comments. Each year a HVAC professional would troubleshoot the unit and not resolve the issue. My unit kept tripping off due to lack fair flow. Jonathon located the problem and the unit has been working for one week with no issue. I am so pleased! Thank you.

I talked to a few AC & heating companies and Belco had the best over the phone customer service and were the most informative. They also had the best price. We had some communication issues in the beginning. On the first service visit I was told by the technicians that we needed to turn off the power on our furnaces to avoid damaging the them. Since the other two unit owners could not be reached to do this at the last minute, we had to reschedule. I received a service confirmation call the night before for the second visit and I mentioned being told the power had turned of for the furnace. I was then told the power needed to be turned off for the AC units alone which can be done at the fuse box. After relaying this information to the other unit owners, on the next day the technician said the power needed to be on for him to be able to decompress the AC units and that we should turn it off after he was done and should stay off until the AC units are reconnected in the spring. I had to call the other unit owners and ask them to turn the power back on. This whole process was very confusing and did not compare to the great customer service received during my research. The work was done in a reasonable time with only a minor annoyance. The technician left the site without saying anything to return to his car to drop off equipment and was locked out. Overall the technician was prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. I would recommend this company for this service but would suggest they inform the customer of what actions are required of them before the service call, during the scheduling process.

Working with Besco was a very positive experience from beginning to end. We had a bad inducer motor on our old furnace, and they helped walk me through whether we should fix it or look at replacing our 14 year old furnace. The beginning of the process involved getting quotes from a couple different companies, including Besco, for the repair. Their quote was the most reasonable, the most prompt, and the most informative. This cannot be understated, as other companies insisted on sending a technician out before quoting (and charging for the visit), and getting a firm quote was like pulling teeth -- even when I knew exactly what the problem was from an HVAC inspection a few months ago. Not with Besco. Not only did they provide the quote quickly, but the owner of the company himself took time to speak with me about considerations of whether to fix our unit or buy a new one. Fantastic customer service. The high level of service continued from there. When I decided I wanted to go the route of getting a new furnace, Besco sent their sales person Joe out for a visit. Other companies insisted on sending a tech out first (for a fee) before the sales rep to do the site visit. Joe was awesome. Very technically knowledgable. Right on time. Called before to confirm the appointment. He was thorough. Inspected the entire duct work system. Very clear explanation of our options and different price/value ranges based upon our home. He offered his professional opinion on which system, but I didn't feel like he pressured me to go with a more expensive model. As explained to me directly from the owner, the quality of a new furnace is only as high as the quality of the installation. The 2 installers did a great job in a tight space, were respectful in our home, careful, and did a good job overcoming a few installation challenges. In addition, they were able to fix our current humidifier, which was great because we were going to buy a new one if they couldn't fix it. That saved us a good amount of money. The icing on the cake was Joe did a follow up visit to ensure everything was installed correctly and walk us through the functions of our new thermostat. He did all the paperwork and submitted the form for us to get our rebate from peoples gas ($600). A great overall job by Joe. Ultimately, I can't speak for pricing because once I decided to go with Besco (after the owner himself took the time to talk to me) I didn't price shop. But the value I received for the price that I paid was second to none for sure. At this point, I won't consider going with any other company for my HVAC needs because of the positive experience.

Jonathan was great. He showed me the defective motor, and provided an elementary lesson on how the it worked and why it needed to be replaced. He notified the office and provided them with all the details they required to give me an estimate. I made an appointment for a week later. Jonathan again arrived on time, and within a half hour the motor was replaced and the noise was gone. I was very impressed with the professionalism of both Jonathan and his home office....all questions were thoroughly answered to my satisfaction.

If we get a new furnace - I might go with them but for repairs I might ask someone else.
Description of Work: They are very nice and I like the company - but they charged $150.00 for just reviewing our furnace. It seemed there wasn't anything wrong with it. As far as the cost for the work we did in your home my guys are told to be very thorough when they are looking at your furnace so we do the correct repair the first time. Your furnace was not working when we got there and then we reset the unit and it was working fine. Jim my technician then wanted to make sure you didn't have anymore problems after he left so he went though the unit with a fine tooth comb. The cost was also based on after hours rates because my guys are paid time and a half to come out at night to repair furnaces. If it was done during regular business hours it would have been less. We have a service contract with Besco, and at the most recent inspection the technician showed me that a piece in the furnace was rusted through and a safety hazard because of co2 leakage. When my husband came home, he checked the furnace and then on the internet and confirmed that it was as the technician said. We opted to replace both the furnace and a/c. We've been happy with Besco during the years that we've had the service contract, and even more so with the whole process of the purchase and install of the furnace and a/c. Since we live in a split level, it added some choices we had to make in regards to what we purchased, but the salesman and the installers were honest with us about what we can and can't do in regards to this issue. Everyone we dealt with was knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt. We give high marks to Besco, and feel confident to recommend them.

Inspect furnace specifically as a second opinion to determine if heat exchanger requires replacement. Sergio from Besco determined heat exchanger is OK, but inducer motor should be replaced because bearings are going.

He came to check the heating system and give it a tune up. But right before he came the system stopped working. Technician easily identified the problem, ordered the part and went to pick it up. It was a pricey problem and on the spot he didn't talk to me about alternatives or whether it was good to invest in an old system. I had to ask him to check the age of the units and only after he had purchased the pricey replacement part did he talk to me about alternatives and only after I prompted him by asking if it was worth the investment. But he got the immediate job done and was pleasant. Just not proactive or particularly thoughtful.

After about an hour or so of being here, they came up saying "bad news" and that there was a leak in our compressor. We live in a new building, compressor in garage, not older than 4 years at the time of their visit. They spent a couple of hours trying to determine what was wrong. I thought it odd that they didn't know definitely. So apparently all the gas/freon had leaked out. They filled it with some fake "gas" to determine if there was in fact a leak. They came back a week later, spent another couple of hours and said pretty much, ooops, it was a stripped shrader pin that was causing the substance to leak out. The refilled it. Our cost with the Angie's initial purchase is now somewhere around $900. All because they couldnt' identify what was wrong. They also said they planned to follow up but never did. Not that I would have them come back. Labor was around $400+ and the freon/gas was around $400 + . What a waste of money. In fact, when the guy came up to tell me about the stripped shrader pin, he couldn't even look me in the eye. I would never recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I bought a service inspection from Angies for around $40. They came to service our unit due to the A/C wasn't working properly and blowing warm air. Also the downstairs remote was not reading the upstairs thermostat properly.

[removed member name] I'm sorry in your disappointment with our work and I feel they may have been some bad communication on our part. We do not have many bad reviews but the ones we do are mostly due to freon leaks. There is only one thing in this industry that we can not give a quote on the repair or tell you what is exactly where the leak is. We can tell you that there is a leak and we can try to find it and that that time it is a hourly rate plus materials. My guy did say the leak was on the condenser and not the compressor which really is the same. We have to add a dye to try to find the leak and the unit needs to run for seventy two hours so we can see the dye with a special light. When we came back to find the leak with the light we did and than fixed the problem. Maybe if we explained it a little better you would not have been so displeased with us but I feel we did everything else right and fixed your problem. Please just remember we can not see a leak (unless it is a large leak) on our first call and that is why out service tech could not give you an exact location of the problem. They're wonderful, they treat you really good, they were nice guys , they cleaned up and did the work beautifully. I ended up spending around $3000. They had a promotion going on that if you put in a certain kind of furnace you get a rebate. So I got a rebate. I was referred to them by my neighbor and then I found out that they were on Angie's List. So I have the furnace running and I have no problems.

OUTSTANDING. A technician named Dawn J. came to my house today to perform annual cleaning/inspection on my two furnaces. She was timely, professional, thorough, and explained everything to me at the end. Such a pleasure to work with someone who is smiling, kind, and knowledgable. Although I hate to bad-mouth people/companies, I need to make this comparison. I always used Four Seasons prior to Besco. With Four Seasons, it took a ridiculous amount of time before I was able to get a live person on the phone to schedule appointments. When a person finally would answer at Four Seasons, appointments were booked out months in advance, even though I foolishly purchased their "plan." With Four Seasons, many of the technicians were very short with time and explanation (again, not all, but many). Many of the Four Seasons techs would also try to up-sell me (I have a house in the Gold Coast, and I'm a stay-at-home mom?), or convince me that I needed a new furnace (which was never the case, as everything has worked great for the most part). Besco, on the other hand is totally opposite of Four Seasons. Someone answers the phone at Besco each time you call, appointments are easy to make (there was about a week wait for cleaning, but the nice representative double checked for tune-ups and was able to squeeze me in). As I stated above, the Besco technician could not have been better, and didn't try to sell me anything. She said that my furnaces were in good condition, and even offered me suggestions for maintenance and potential problems that I might be able to solve myself.

Sergio was fantastic. He called to let me know when he was on the way, which was very close to the beginning of the 3-hour window I was given. He was courteous and careful and spent a good long while working on the furnace and trying to salvage a non-operational humidifier. He explained everything to me and called in to get an estimate for a replacement.

It was the first very hot day of the summer, and when I turned on our condo's A/C nothing happened. After some quick investigating, I discovered that our A/C condenser fan was not spinning when the A/C kicked on. I called several placed to try and come out to look at it and fix it right away, but Besco was the only one that I contacted that was able to come out that day. The Besco customer service was very nice and helpful. All places I contacted charge a service call just to come out and look at your system. Most providers charged $70-$90 for this service call. Luckily, Besco had a prepaid Deal/BuyNow on Angie's List for a $35 service call. This was a pretty good deal. The Besco field rep came out on time and was very nice and professional. He tested the unit, and gave me a quote to fix the unit. The quote I received to replace the motor, fan blades, and capacitor seemed very high to me. I tried to ask the field rep to explain the quote a little further, but he said that the office determined the prices for the quotes. I called the office to try and get an explanation and got a call two days later. I researched my parts online and discovered that the quote was roughly over 3 times higher than what I could get the parts for. I ended up choosing not to go forward with Besco for replacement because I felt the quote was too high. Pros: Very nice and helpful customer service Was able to come out same-day Nice and knowledgeable field rep Cheap service call via Angie's Deal/BuyNow Cons: Quote for unit fixing and parts replacement seemed high to me Field rep could not explain quote prices
Description of Work: The provider came out to examine and test our A/C condenser. The Besco representative tested the condenser capacitor circuitry and the condenser fluids, both of which were fine. We called Besco Air when we needed to replace our furnace. Ed Pfeifer came out that same afternoon. He quickly assessed our furnace needs and determined that our old furnace was too large. He also found an airflow issue with our duct work and came up with a solution. Ed was well informed and explained all our options with no pressure for upgrades or extras. Communication with Ed was outstanding. When we called with questions, he promptly answered in person (no voice mail!) and called back when promised. Ceasar and Manny installed the furnace, coil and duct work. They were prompt, efficient, knowledgeable and polite. Ed was on hand when the job started and made follow-up visits to check on our satisfaction with the work. A thermostat issue was promptly corrected and Ed again made a follow-up. Besco is a company that goes above and beyond to make the customer happy.

He took his time and was very knowledgeable about what may need. Did try to upsell a bit, but he was very polite and I liked him very much. I informed him I was getting another estimate prior to making my decision, and I would let him know.He asked me who else I called and I told him. Once I received a second estimate, I decided to go with the other company, after I called Joe and he said they would not match that price or warranty. The same AC with installation and a warranty for five more years was approximately one thousand dollars cheaper. I would have loved to use Besco, however I not for a thousand dollars more for the same thing AC with a shorter warranty.

The Besco employee arrived fairly punctually, and he promptly had me lead him to the AC unit on the roof. Inspection found that the capacitor had blown. Luckily he had one that would work for my unit in his truck. He replace the capacitor then checked the freon levels to be thorough. Good thing he did. I was below half of what it should have been at. He topped the unit off and we discussed a recurring issue i have with my furnace as we passed the few minutes. Turns out he had a pretty good idea what the issue was and that there is a fairly simple and inexpensive solution. Great, I'll be calling them in a month or two to come take a look at my furnace. Overall, the experience was the best it could be. Sure, the bill was more than I would have liked (it usually is), but their price for the freon is in line with what I've learned other companies charge, and that was 95% of the bill. Ryan

Mike Clark was a good salesman- answered all our questions. They put in both a furnace and AC unit. The installers were efficient and polite. One or two details were not quite to our liking and possibly avoidable, but they adjusted them right away. The AC is working fine- will wait to see how the heat does.
