Mark up on parts was very high. The first pound of R22 freon is $150 (900% markup over wholesale). It decreases somewhat after the first pound. I decided not to use their service. I would rather pay a higher hourly rate than deal with a provider who chooses to use hidden costs.

A technician came out a couple days after I phoned. This was okay with me because the weather had warmed up and I knew they would be busy with service calls. The technician, Jim, diagnosed the problem right away and had to order the necessary parts from the supply warehouse in Wisconsin. He promptly ordered them the next morning with an estimated delivery date of 3 - 5 days. Andy from Besco phoned me the next morning and left a message with this news. I was also able to schedule my next appointment based on the delivery date. When Jim returned a week after his initial service visit, he was unable to remove the old blower motor. This was due to some badly rusted screws holding it in place. Jim removed a section of the unit and took it home to work on it over the weekend. He promptly phoned Andy back at the office and informed him of the repair situation. Andy scheduled him for a return service call on Monday. On Monday, Jim returned with another technician and they were able to replace the blower motor and wheel. The system was up and running in about 30 minutes. I have a furnace/AC combo pack that is located in a closet in my condo. It is not the easiest piece of equipment to repair because it is housed very tightly within the walls of the utility closet. The combo pack is also very heavy to remove and replace. Jim did a terrific job and never complained about the equipment he had to repair. Andy kept me apprised of everything regarding the parts and scheduling.

For several weeks our radiators and new boiler were making noises that were disturbing our tenants. My husband had been there several times to figure out the problem and could not resolve the issue. I recommended calling a professional and purchase a deal from Angie's list. They were quick to set up an appointment with me despite being very busy with many calls due to the extreme cold. I was given an appointment range and I explained to the woman who set up the appointment that I did not live in the building and to please call me a half hour before arriving so that I had time to travel there with my 4 year old son. The employee called me when he arrived at the building and did not give me the half hour notice. When I explained he was supposed to give me notice, he threaten to leave the building stating that he had a lot of jobs to do. I left right away, but he kept calling me while I was driving threatening to leave again. I told him to see if one of the tenants could let him in while I was traveling and I explained to issue. Once in the basement, he called me again. I explained I was 5 minutes away and that we could discuss it when I was there. Once I was there he was rude and in a hurry to leave explaining there is nothing wrong with the boiler because it was brand new and gave no further explanation for the problem. I had to press him to tell me what he thought the problem was. He thought is was air in the line. I told him it had been bleed a few times but there was still a problem. I discussed our bleeding procedure with him and it was correct. But he refused to touch anything or see our radiators without charging me additional money. He was there with me less than 5 minutes. When he went to leave he said we owed him money for the time that he had to spend waiting, 30 mins. I refused because he did not do as instructed and called me before his arrival. He said that he would have to office call me about the additional costs, but they did not. I did rebleed all the radiators and the problem was resolved.

Fixed A/C unit that is about 20 years old.

Explained situation to him already on the phone. Work was completed, explained and future maintenance was discussed. Will use them again.

They came on the appointed day in the timeframe indicated and the technician, Sergio was very professional and helpful providing some education into the system. The system is back in good working order and I am pleased with the service

Team was professional and ontime. Complicated job due to one furnace's location prevented maintenance on the other without taking apart. They handled the situation well.

Did work as expected - would use again.

Called to get details (price and timing) of replacing a hot water heater that was starting to leak out the rusty bottom of the tank. They were able to fit us in quickly. The old hot water heater was emptied and removed without any problems. The new one was installed in the same location. Ed our sales person is easy to get a hold of and honest to deal with. We definitely recommend Besco.

I called in the morning because my AC was making a very loud banging noise on the roof. They were extremely accommodating and fit me in the same day. Jerry showed up and diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes. The fan blade had somehow come loose and was detached. It happened to be warm out and Jerry was able to order and secure a new part for me, drove quite a distance to pick it up, bring it back, fix my AC, and do all of it within a 3 hour time frame. While the cose of the blade wasn't cheap, the service was fantastic and worth every penny.

Great service. One unit is on the roof and very hard to get to. They accommodated me most professionally. I took out the annual service contract and they were still most agreeable on the price of the service needs.

So glad I did this. Great advice on the care of the unit. Have not had any trouble with the unit since the inspection.

The service turned out excellent. I paid $75 extra on top of the Big Deal amount. They were effective in getting the job done.

Radiant heat is a great thing to have in the basement and garage, but when it breaks down- not an easy fix. There are many moving parts to the system. There is a boiler, underground tubing, glycol etc. I interviewed many companies and Jim totally knew his stuff cold. He was able to diagnose and fix the problem in a relatively short time. He was very responsive to my questions, and throughly explained everything before he did the repair. I would highly recommend him.

Outstanding. Besco was VERY responsive, offered me several options and costs on how to approach the problem, reached me after hours to ensure everything was going well, and came back to check on a concern I had following the install.

It went well. They provided good service. I paid for the parts.

We were not happy. We were upset. We paid what we thought was a flat rate for air conditioning service. When the person came over I wasn’t present. I made the deal online but my wife was there when the air conditioning person came over. He told her that what we paid was just for him to come out and not actually do anything. The air conditioner was going to cost twice as much as the flat rate. Overall we wound up paying over $100 to vacuum out the lint and dust out the air conditioner. The sheer practice of telling us they are giving us a flat rate and then telling us the service that we actually needed was completely separate from the flat rate we paid. It was a big deal purchase. There was an extra charge. The air conditioner worked like new when they got finished with it. They came when they were scheduled to. They showed up on time. We haven’t used them in the last 2 years and we won’t call them again. After my wife told me what happened. I called them. They gave me the same story that they gave her. The flat fee included somebody coming out and looking at the air conditioner and not actually touching the air conditioner. I would have been more understanding if the air conditioner needed replacement parts or new coolant. All the person did was take the cover off and vacuum it.

I contacted Besco after hours due to my Rheem furnace stopping during the winter. The answering service took my information and told me dispatch would call around 7am to schedule me for that day. Dispatch did ask if I wanted immediate emergency service but due to the timing of my call about 5am, I declined. Dispatch called me at 8am to schedule service for 4pm that day. I didn't mind the 4pm timeslot but was taken a bit back by dispatch calling an hour later than when the answering service indicated they'd call. I believe HVAC providers were quite busy during this extremely cold winter in Chicago. The issue is intermittent which has made more difficult the process of determining what exactly is wrong. The technician arrived on time and checked unit. He mentioned the exhaust PVC might be better reconfigured to reduce the amount of water present. I informed him of the led light readout when the issue occurs but unfortunately the instructions for the unit classify this as a general error with specific details. He was able to get the unit running and we settled up on the bill. However, prior to leaving, the unit shut off again. He indicated it might be a faulty gas valve and it he would need to replace it - however the supply store was closed by that hour and so he'd have to come back tomorrow. I spoke to scheduling and they had slotted me for a late afternoon time the next day. However, I pushed back a bit due to not having heat for two days in -10 degree temperature and they accommodated an earlier slot for me. I really appreciated that. The cost for the valve was under manufacturers warranty but they also charged me for labor to install the valve in addition to the labor they charged me the previous day. I can see why, but it didn't feel right to me, which is why I gave a "B" on pricing. Since I already paid and completed the transaction, prior to the furnace shutting off on his way out, it seemed like the follow-up the next day to install the gas valve should have been covered under the warranty period. In any event, the valve was changed and the furnace ran fine for 6 weeks. Yesterday, the symptom showed up again. They came out in a day, on time, and had another look. The drain pipe is clear but there is still a fair amount of water discharge. Some rubber tubes were kinked, and so those were corrected. I'm hoping that resolves the issue but I'll need to wait another week or two and monitor the water discharge. In the meantime, I'm having the PVC exhaust piping improved. What was nice is the second service call was no charge as the issue was tied to the original service call. That is something nice to see, that you don't see often in some of these trades. I'd also like to point out that both technicians were very friendly, professional, and didn't mind me hanging around while work was being performed - explaining what they were doing and why. A very welcome differentiator in this line of work.

They came out on a Saturday morning and completed the work in 15 minutes, running through a diagnostic check. He called back right away and they were fabulous. Their price by far was the best. He showed us the correct position of the switch. He also let us know about a piece needed for our humidifier but was not pushy; he gave us good information. The are the best HVAC company we've worked with so far.

We noticed water on the floor near our boiler system. It was time for our annual service, but we weren't impressed with the company we had used for the previous year's maintenance. We did some reading about local companies on local websites and thought Besco would fit our needs. We then checked Angie's List, read the reviews there, and called them. Our need wasn't urgent but we did want service that was reasonably prompt. I called in the morning. They inquired if we did or did not have heat. We told them we did, and they placed us on their schedule for that afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised at how soon they were able to send someone out. The technician called to let us know when he would be arriving, and it was earlier than we had expected. (A good thing, in our opinion.) When he arrived, we showed him the water on the floor, told him when we had last had service, and he went to work. He thoroughly cleaned our system and oiled what needed oiling. He also worked with us on the safety valve for awhile, advising as to what the problem was and telling us our options. Our system was clean and functioning wonderfully after the work that Besco did. (We definitely noticed a difference in how clean it was as compared with the year prior, when another company did our service.) We have subsequently realized that we will need to replace our safety valve, and we will definitely be calling Besco to do that replacement. The technician was knowledgeable, explained what he was doing, and made sure we understood our options. We look forward to their service for years to come, both for annual service as well as replacement down the road.

They checked the problem area, quickly assessed the situation, let me know it would likely be one of two scenarios and that they would start with the simpler/cheaper of the two scenarios first - replacing the thermal coupler. After replacing the coupler everything was up and running. I should also mention that the gentlemen who took care of us was polite, friendly, and explained things along the way which is a big plus. I can't say enough good things.

He was very knowledgeable and worked fast. We have not had any problems with the repair. We were very happy with the service.

It did take a little while to get scheduled, but as soon as they came out they performed a great job and work was completed to my satisfaction.

Everything went fine. They were on time and they fixed what I asked them to fix. I thought it was a little pricey.
