We needed baby gates ASAP and they were able to get in and put up what needed asap! I had had enough of chasing twins around our house. They were about what I thought they would cost and every thing went very smoothly and setup was great! once we get our basement set up we will def have them back asap to gate that as well!

We initially contacted Baby Solutions about 1 year ago to provide childproofing expertise and installation of child gates, drawer locks, cabinet locks, etc. I selected them over others based on the reviews on Angie's List. They were very responsive initially. They came out within 1 week and gave recommendations on what we needed to have done and then came out a few days later and did the installation. They called a few days after the installation to say and quot;I'm not sure, but I think we inadvertently charged you twice on your credit card.and quot; When we got the credit card statement later that month they indeed had charged us twice. However they didn't offer us any help in getting the duplicate charge reversed. we spent hours on the phone over several days with American Express trying to get the duplicate charge removed. We soon realized that Baby Solutions didn't install some of the drawer and cabinet locks they had said they would. we thought it just an oversight and did it ourselves. My wife called earlier this year to have some additional babyproofing done. Despite making 2 separate calls to Baby Solutions they never responded. We then chose a different childproofing company. they came out and fixed a gate at the top of the stairs which Baby Solutions had incorrectly installed. We did not realize it was installed incorrectly until they fixed it. The difference is night and day. It upsets me that Baby Solutions did not know how to properly install the gate and subjected our children to unsafe conditions by doing so. The new company also installed a outside gate which is top quality. In addition, the new drawer locks they installed are of much better quality than what Baby Solutions installed. I personally would never use Baby Solutions again. Especially after seeing what a true childproofing expert can do for your home.
Description of Work: installed several child gates, drawer locks, cabinet locks, toilet locks, etc.

Response from BABY SOLUTIONS CHILDPROOFING SERVICES
I want to thank you for this review It will hopefully get many looks. I have been in business for over 13 years. Not one of our thousands of clients have ever notified us of an issue with our products or services that wasn't quickly resolved. The only rule we have is you must let us know. Our warranty is not 6 months or a year it's forever. I personally guarantee every product because we only use the best products. I didn't say perfect. Things come up and we either fix or replace the item. We did your house a year ago and this is the first time I have ever heard any of these issues. I wish that if you really felt any of these things you would have called. We have a receptionist and a backup answering service so I can make sure to get all of our messages personally. Our company motto is our most importmt clients are past ones because without them we can't have future clients" So for you to claim otherwise is insulting and wrong. If you had any trouble with a credit card charge the credit card company would give you you money back within 24 hours And so would we. I hope you actually realize next time that there are people you are writing this stuff about and make sure it's accurate. Good luck.

We were very pleased with our experience with this company. Josh was very friendly and professional in his initial evaluation. I didn't feel like he was trying to oversell his products, in fact he even mentioned a few things we shouldn't worry about and a few things he can do later down the line if we wish. Carmen was the guy who came and did the work. He was very friendly and professional also. He was efficient with his work and didn't grumble when i asked him to change a couple of things. He cleaned up after himself and vacuumed all around his work area once he was done. He was even considerate to my baby's naptime and planned each task around where she was in the house so as not to disturb her. There was even a moment when he was sawing a piece of wood during her nap and it was quite loud so i asked him to move to another room and he ended up going onto our front porch to finish up so as not to wake the baby. I thought that was above and beyond. Josh called after the appt to see how it went, which was a nice touch. Finally, the price was good. We installed 3 gates, a few furniture anchors, a bunch of cabinet and drawer latches and some outlet covers and it came to just over $500 with a 10% Angies List coupon. I was working from home that day and didn't feel any kind of disruption to my day. I was very pleased with the whole experience and would recommend these folks to others in a heartbeat.

We compared Baby Solutions to 2 other highly rated and popular services and chose these guys because they were very friendly during the pre-sell process of a free visit to the house to look around and come up with a laundry list of things to do. The other 2 performed their and quot;free consultationand quot; by scaring the heck out of you and causing something of a panic. Baby Solutions was just as informative, without making you feel scared and crazy. We also appreciated that Baby Solutions was wiling to help us focus on the most important things to do, rather than just giving us a huge list of 50 things to do, without a clear sense of priority.
Description of Work: All together we had the following work performed: We had 3 stairswells gated off, a giant fence setup in the basement to create a safe play area, some kitchen & bathroom cabinets locked, a fireplace blocked by plexiglass, furniture strapped to the wall to prevent tipping, 2 TVs tied down to prevent tipping, special locks added to a few doors, Childproof electrical outlet covers installed, and most importantly, they showed us many other things we could do on our own to prevent many kinds of accidents.

Josh came out for the walk through and he was on time if not early. He was very thorough going through my home and he wrote down suggestions for each room along with the corresponding price. He didn't guilt me into anything and I was able to use the list he gave me to pick what I wanted to have done. Carmen came out to do the install and Josh stopped by to see how it was going. The install went fairly quickly. The plexiglass for the balcony was a bit too big so Carmen left to have the plexiglass re-cut. Everything was installed on the same day. Josh and Carmen are super nice and friendly. The prices were a little high on some items, but keep in mind the prices include installation. Some things you can do yourself, but others like gates and latches you should have a professional do. Why ruin your cabinets or not install correctly? I would definitely recommend Baby Solutions for your baby proofing needs. Having them come over and do what they're good at really helped put my mind more at ease and reduced the stress I was having from having a very active and mobile baby.

it went really well. he had everything priced from his estimate a month ago. no surprises. he was there at two. worked for two hours - as estimated. done. when he left he said if there were any problems at all to give him a call. i feel confident that if there are any, he will be there to take care of it. highly recommended.
Description of Work: josh came out about a month ago to give our home a walk-through. he was incredibly insightful and professional as he pointed out various aspects of our home that might need to be 'babyproofed'. he NEVER made us feel scared or frightened. we did not feel 'forced' to get everything. the fact that we called him in the first place suggested we were already anxious about the safety of our baby and he was sensitive to that. a couple of weeks ago our baby figured out how to climb a step. so we called josh and he was over at his/our first available time. he was prompt, quick, quiet and personable. he and his associate installed two gates and many drawer/cupboard locks. everything works as promised.

I tend not to be one to write reviews but had such a positive experience with Baby Solutions, I felt compelled to share. Overall Baby Solutions delivered what was promised and they delivered beyond our expectations. During our walk through Josh was very detailed in his comments about our home and yet honest about what products we needed and what we could do without. He showed us things we should move in our home, what objects in our home already were safe and where to store others. He recommended a variety of products for each room, as well as suggestions, by room, where we thought we needed a product but he had a simple free solution. We had some challenges in our home including an unusual staircase as well as some larger pieces of furniture, which required securing to the wall. Josh worked through these with us to provide the safest solution. We appreciated his honesty as every home and space is different. We initially had Josh come and install some of the products on the list and then later realized we needed / wanted the rest that he suggested. We then called and he was more than accommodating coming back to put the remaining items in our home. Josh came prepared, was clean and quiet, and got the work done in a timely manner. My son was not disturbed at all during the installation process. I would highly recommend Baby Solutions for your childproofing needs.
Description of Work: An initial walk through of our home, which included many helpful tips around our house. Installation of multiple gates on stairways as well as plexi–glass and everything else from outlet covers, to latches in the kitchen and bathroom to toilet locks, bath mats, spout covers and more. Impeccable clean up after installation as well as showing us how to use everything in our home. Finally, Josh followed up with both a phone call and letter checking on our satisfaction and if we had any questions or concerns.

We are extremely happy with the results. Josh was great at suggesting what we could do to create a safer environment for our 13 month old. He is also very responsive, personable and honest which I greatly appreciate. Most importantly the installation process was painless and everything works great, which makes my life a lot easier! I will use Baby Solutions again in the future as well as recommend them to anyone in need. I was surprised after reading the previous review as I had a very positive experience with Baby Solutions and know of many others that have as well.

Our experience working with Baby Solutions can best be described in the letter we sent directly to Josh Berliant, owner of Baby Solutions. Dear Josh, Here is the letter that I promised you a few weeks ago. I apologize for the delay, but it took me a while to draft it. I hope that you will read all of it. You will sense some hostility, but we felt it necessary that you understand the full scope of our disappointment. We have several issues detailed here, the first being that of the installation of the gates. The white gate mounts were painted white before installation, while the wood gate mounts were unfinished, untreated wood when installed. The white gates were painted because you recognized that this needed to be done before installation. We were not notified that the wooden ones were not treated in any way. If Baby Solutions was not going to take responsibility for treating these wooden kits (which you should do if you complete the white gate kits), we needed to be notified beforehand so that WE could treat these install kits instead of having them installed only to be removed and then re-installed. It became clear that you installed them hoping that we would not notice/care/object to them being unfinished. Your response to me that you haven’t been able to find a stain that matches was laughable when you said it, and was solidified as complete BS when you called me to tell me that you are not actually professional painters/stainers, you do not have experience doing this, and you felt very uncomfortable taking on the responsibility of staining the wood. When a child safety expert installs ill-fitting socket covers knowingly and walks away from the job with 26 electrical sockets in a state that is more dangerous than when he arrived, we have a serious problem. After installation, the socket plates were loose and jiggled when touched to the point that we could put our finger in between the wall and plate and actually touch the electrical wiring behind the plate. The fact that you could walk away from this installation in such a state is stupefying, but it is indicative of all of your work. Our bookshelves are now safer, but the way in which the straps were installed was done in a way that even you yourself described as “sheer stupidity.” We would agree. The fact that the furniture straps would be permanently screwed into the wall (and yes, anything screwed into the wall IS, in fact, permanent until it is removed) within plain view, two inches above the top of the piece of furniture is maddening. Your reimbursement check was the best you felt you could do to remedy this problem, but it is far from sufficient. Would it have been difficult to install these straps one half inch below the top of the bookshelves? There is no logical or justifiable reason for the way in which this work was done. In addition, the straps were not installed equidistant from each other and our bookcase was damaged from the installation. The screw from the furniture strap mount was drilled all the way through the wood, splitting and damaging the front shelf of the bookcase. Nothing was accurately measured or done with caution or care, which is what one would expect from a carpenter. It is very clear that the installations are not being done by a skilled carpenter. Everything about this install was a mistake, and we are now faced with a permanently damaged piece of furniture and the dilemma of leaving the straps up in plain site or removing and reinstalling the furniture straps to be left with additional, unnecessary visible holes in our walls, creating another unnecessary eyesore and something else to patch, paint and repair. Which leads me to the eight holes that have been drilled into our family room walls. When confronted with the challenge of securing the five steps off of our family room, instead of admitting that you did not have an appropriate solution for this, you came up with a plethora of ridiculous, half-assed “solutions” knowing that not one of them was either reasonable or viable in terms of securing that space. Installing a 13 foot gate (horrifically, I might add) with uneven and unmatching chunks of wood, unevenly screwed into the wall on both sides and then telling us that a) it is not permanent (well, a projection of four children and 10 years of living with it indicates to us that it is, again, in fact permanent); b) you cannot even see it; c) it could be easily steadied by bolstering it with a cinderblock on the stair side of the gate; d) suggesting that we apply carpet glue to a piece of wood and then affix that to the gate on one side and the hardwood floors on the other is an outrage. You should have had the professional foresight to know that you were incapable of securing this area in our house. Granted (after the fact!!!) you suggested that you weren’t really sure if the gate was going to work, but that hardly excuses the shoddiness of the workmanship. There would have been nothing wrong with a simple admission that you were not, in fact, up to the task, and it would have spared us the eight holes that we now have to repair in our walls. Let me mention that the paint on that wall is a custom made color, so matching that is going to be near impossible. Regardless, spot painting never leads to even results, even if you use the same exact can of paint the wall was originally finished with. But that is obviously not your problem! In addition to all of this mess, when you came to switch out the electrical socket covers, you came without a screwdriver! You had to borrow ours. And, to make matters worse, either you or Gene chipped both drywall and paint off of the wall. The responsibility for this is unmistakably yours. Our walls are newly painted. There is no excuse for this, not even the one that you gave me that placed the blame on the mere act of removing the plate. The simple and common sense solution to preventing this situation is to carefully run an exacto knife along the edge of the socket cover before prying it off with a screwdriver. The marks on the wall in the other room are a few inches above the plate, not along its edge. I should not have to make suggestions as elementary as this to a person who replaces socket covers day in and day out. I sincerely hope that prying paint off of clients’ walls is not part of the daily install routine, but given all of the evidence I have witnessed and presented above, I can’t imagine it not being common if not expected. We understand and acknowledge that you attempted to right some of these wrongs by refunding the cost of the furniture straps. But, a check for $66 or not charging us for the 13’ safety gate that was not installed does not sufficiently address the entire host of home repair nightmares that you have ultimately saddled us with. I can assure you that we have paid at least twice for all of the services you have provided: once for a horrifically executed installation project and at least once for all of the repairs that we will have to do to correct the careless and unprofessional work that you have done. We don’t expect anything further from you. In fact, we prefer to leave matters where they are. We wanted to be absolutely certain that there was no ambiguity between us with regard to our feelings about your service. We also want you to know that it is not in our nature to write these kinds of letters, which is further testament to how utterly disappointed we were with this experience.
Description of Work: The babyproofing works: 6 baby gates, 26 electrical socket plate covers, furniture securing straps on several bookcases, a safety hook on every drawer/cabinet, 4 toilet locks, corner cushions (that do not adhere properly to the furniture). Please see photos.

Team was very professional. I like detailed paperwork for estimates so you know exactly what you are getting and they delivered. I gave a B for the price only because the actual gates were $75/each (retail) and the whole job was done in 1 1/2 hours so when I calculated what I paid for per hour labor it seemed like alot. However, maybe they are just speedy. It would've taken us hours (literally) to do it. As a dual career family, you can't beat the service and the cost is well worth it.

The whole experience has been great. Josh and his team are fantastic. We needed a very quick turnaround, and they delivered. We were able to stay baby proofed from one house to the next, making it a seamless move. It alleviated a lot of my worry around moving with an active toddler. They are professional, responsive, and thorough - really all you'd want in a baby proofing company.
Description of Work: Baby Solutions removed the baby proofing (gates, locks, etc) from our old home and moved them into our new home. They strategically installed baby gates in family room areas and around fireplaces; they did not try to up sell us on baby proofing every part of our house. But they did identify various baby hazards that we could attend to ourselves. As a first time mother, I could be easily up sold every safety product on the market, but Josh identified only what we absolutely needed to have baby proofed. I actually had to talk him into some custom work! I can't tell you how much I appreciated his honesty & straightforward manner.

Josh came by and assessed our home in areas that we were concerned about. Recommended what needed to be done now vs. what could wait until our son was a bit older. He also pointed out areas where we could move things and areas that would be targets for little hands...many of these things had not yet occurred to me! We have had Josh back recently to help baby proof our screened porch and he offered a great solution for that and a number of other areas we need to pay attention to. We do not have the time to get some of these tasks done or deal with getting the materials (two working parents). Josh handles everything quickly, safely and professionally.
Description of Work: Josh put in baby gates for us in a number of areas. We had some old baby gates from a friend and he assessed they were safe and strong (even though he could have sold us his own gates...). He worked quickly and all of his work is still strong and in place. We have since called him again t do some more work.
