To be fair I used them once previously and they did an amazing job. I was very much looking forward to finding a cleaning company to help me out on a regular basis after the groupon had expired. Any company with this customer service I would stay far away from.
Description of Work: Bought a 5 pack groupon for house cleaning. Called in December to schedule an appointment, first available appointment was over a month away (today) so I took it. No one showed up today for the cleaning. Called to find out what happened and the response I got was, we don't accept groupons. I asked why I wasn't called when I had an appointment scheduled and the response was we deleted groupon appointments, I don't have you on my books!!!!

Like the other reviewers, I purchased the Groupon for a three-hour house cleaning. I had to wait 6 weeks for an appointment, which finally happened today. They were scheduled to come at 11, and timing was important to me as I've been doing a lot of work in the house and needed to make sure I had all the clutter moved out before they came. Unfortunately, they called yesterday and I missed the message, so they showed up at 9 instead of 11. Two people came, so I had them for 1.5 hours. I gave them the run-down of what I needed and didn't need: I told them they could skip both bedrooms and most of the upstairs bathroom - I only wanted the shower and tub cleaned. That left the half-bath, the stairs, the kitchen, dining room floor, and the living room. While they started upstairs, I went into turbo mode to de-clutter the downstairs. It was a very stressful way to have someone else clean my house! After I de-cluttered, I took my 6-year-old for a walk to get out of their way so they could do their work. Overall, they did a just OK job. It was definitely more of a surface cleaning than I was expecting. I asked them to do the microwave and at first they said they don't do that, but then she did end up doing it, for which I was very grateful. The rest of the house seemed more like a Lysol-wipes-and-Swiffer job than a Comet/scrub brush/mop/bucket kind of job. There were a few places they missed that were surprising. There was a significant amount of dust on the TV base, and my daughter had drawn smiley faces into it so it was impossible to miss...but after they left, the smiley faces were still there. Perhaps they wanted to save them as artwork? I can't complain TOO much - someone else cleaned my house pretty cheaply - but if I'd paid full price and gotten this service, I'd be pretty upset. My second session is coming up in another month - perhaps it will be better.

The experience with Amerimaids is a nightmare. They do sub-standard work and lack integrity.
Description of Work: I purchased Groupons for both of my daughters who reside in Chicago. When they tried to use them, they were informed that "Groupon" customers differ from "regular" customers. One daughter had to wait one month for her first appointment (the other has not used hers). Upon arrival of the crew, daughter was told she could "upgrade' to the "full" cleaning instead of the "Groupon" cleaning. The crew only had to clean a small 1100sf relatively clean apartment. They did a very sub-standard job. Upon the next scheduled cleaning (one month later because "Groupon customers have to wait"), they were a no-show. I called Groupon. They have refunded the entire amount of both gift certificates (total $250). I also spoke with Amerimaids. They were arrogant and argumentative. I told them they were running a BAIT & SWITCH! This is not how Groupon works. Fortunately, Groupon stood behind their promise; Amerimaids did not. There are too many companies out there to deal with - HONESTY FIRST.

I tried this company because I got a groupon for it. I couldn't find any reviews anywhere, but it was $45 for 3 hours of cleaning (2 people for 1.5 hours) so I figured I'd try them. They charge extra for Saturday cleanings. I was originally told a $10 fee, but when they called to confirm it was $10/hour (this makes the groupon price $25 an hour). The woman who sets appointments is difficult to understand with a strong accent, but I don' t know how I could have misheard that. They honored the $10 fee after I complained. I set an appointment for 11. The women showed up over 25 minutes early for the appointment, but supposedly didn't know who to buzz (although my name is on the buzzer). After they arrived, their office called me (from a Florida number I didn't recognize) to get my apartment number (which ISN"T on the buzzer). I talked to someone at their office at 10:38 (I had waited to get the message because I had no idea why a Florida number was calling me). They told me to let them in, as they were waiting by the door but couldn't buzz me without the apartment number. I told them that makes no sense, as my name is on the buzzer and my apartment number isn't. So I thought they were at the wrong building. But I was told they were at the door -- absolutely they were at the right building. I went and looked and no one was by the door. So I called back to find out where they were (10:41). Finally I saw them getting their stuff out of their car and I let them in at 10:50 (ten minutes before the appointment time). When they got in, I said I mainly needed the floors cleaned well, plus the normal bathroom/kitchen stuff. I had bought the condo about a month before and hadn't bought much furniture yet. I had a large bookcase, dining table and chairs, 3 chairs with ottomans, a coffee table, 2 small chairs and a cabinet. I had moved my mattress outside to make it easier to clean the bedroom floor (i had no bedframe yet). They looked at this and decided my condo was a move-in/move-out cleaning and didn't want to do it because it was so much work they charge extra. My condo was basically clean as when I bought it, I had mopped the floors, scrubbed the tub, tile, kitchen, etc., but was having guest over and wanted everything super clean at one time and didn't have the time to do it myself again. Other groupons have said no move-in/out cleaning, but theirs didn't - and I didn't think this qualified anyway. It was actually cleaner than my other place had been many times before when cleaning people have come -- it absolutely was not a lot of work for it to be cleaned (other than the stove top). To be penalized for simply not having much furniture seems unfair. So after we discussed this, they spent several minutes talking to their boss and got permission to clean anyway (I suspect because it was at a normal cleanliness level). Less than an hour after I let them in (so after about 50 minutes of actual cleaning), they said they were done and had nothing left they could clean. I asked had they cleaned in the fridge since I had been taking the shelves out when they arrived (it was pretty clean to begin with as I had cleaned it when I bought it, but while it was basically empty seemed a good time to really clean it well) and they had the time. They said they don't do that. I said their webpage said they did. Apparently many of the things online are off limits if you do a groupon (although the groupon doesn't say that) and they don't tell you when they arrive, they just don't do them. She mentioned they only had about 15 minutes (each) left. I said there was over a half hour left (so one hour of cleaning), so she explained that once they pull up outside the building and call the office that they've arrived, the timer starts on the cleaning time (and since the time is based on 2 people, you lose 2 minutes of cleaning for each 1 minute delay). This is their policy. So even though they showed up nearly a half hour before their appointment time (when I might not have even been home), and even though they had my name but for some reason couldn't ring my buzzer without my apartment number (which isn't on the buzzer) --- ALL that time counted as cleaning time. The over 10 minutes of time it took from me talking to the office about them being at my door and actually getting them into my condo, that used up over 20 minutes of cleaning time. I think this policy is ridiculous. I let them in 10 minutes before the appointment time, but had already "used" about 15 minutes (so a half hour) of cleaning time -- because they couldn't figure out what buzzer to ring. This delay was 100% their fault, but when I let them in, I was already only going to receive 2.5 hours of the 3 hours I paid for. I got substantially less time than anticipated (especially when you consider all the conversations and phone calls going on as well, when no one was cleaning anything, that ate into the 2.5 hours I "started" with). They called their boss and got special permission to clean the inside of the fridge since there was time left. So they did that and left. I was already very annoyed at feeling "cheated" out of over a half hour of cleaning time before they even got into my condo, plus losing probably another 20-30 minutes to conversations and phone calls, but after they left I looked around and was even more disappointed as I found they did a very poor job. I found 5 window ledges that clearly had not even been dusted (there were even 2 or more dead bugs in 3 of the window ledges behind things, so very obvious), the little rings of brown buildup you get around faucets were still there on both my kitchen and bath faucet. The grate in my sink was dirty. The outside and rim of the toilet were still dirty. The burners on the stove were still quite dirty (this was the only thing in the condo that needed some real cleaning). There were even still food stains on the side of the fridge. They seemed to only clean the floor where directly accessible (e.g., I had a small picture leaning against the wall waiting for me to hang it -- I found a dust bunny behind it). There was dirt/dust under the coffee table. They seem to mainly just spray/wipe things, no actual scrubbing of anything at all. Yet, they had run out of things they could clean? They also used a bunch of my paper towels (they left me 3 on my roll). I've used a lot of different cleaners over the years, and all the others were all substantially better than this. These are from the list of things they do from their website. with my notes afterward on a few KITCHEN ? Thoroughly clean sink - faucet edge still dirty, sink grate dirty ? Wipe appliances inside and out - they said they only do inside of microwave, fridge still had food drips/splashes on side ? Load and run dishwasher - didn't do ? Clean inside refrigerator (if requested) - had to get special permission to do this ? Take out trash - it was all left in my kitchen BATHROOMS, BEDROOMS, AND OTHER AREAS ? Clean and disinfect tub and toilet - toilet outside/rim dirty ? Clean shower and sink - faucet area still dirty LIVING AND DINING ROOMS ? Dust all corners, high and low - they didn't do any high dusting, I still had cobwebs in high corners ? Dust and mop wood floors - yes, but I still found dust, paper bits, a pin, and other things on the floor after they left ? Remove cobwebs - nope ? Dust and clean blinds - didn't do ? Wipe down window sills - found bugs when they left ? Clean all glass and mirrors - didn't clean the glass door in my cabinets
