American Thermal Window

From the beginning, when we met with the owner's son for the estimates, to the end, they were very professional. We were being stalled by an insurance company that owed us money--for months--and the office people were very patient and understanding as they were being stalled too. We had something like 16 windows plus one large picture window replaced in our house, and something like 36 windows replaced in my mom's house. The guys they sent out to do the work were great--friendly, quiet, professional, cleaned up after themselves so that you couldn't even see dust on the windowsills. They worked with us on scheduling because my mom's tenant works the night shift, and did the work over two days and started the work in a certain place so she could get some sleep, and finished off on a Saturday. We had a different two-man crew for each house, and they were both the same--like Polish craftsmen. We were very happy with the work, the windows themselves, and the prices. We are having the basement windows done and possibly new doors, and we will be going back to them for that work too.

Salesguy came, measured, priced. Nice guy. I didn't haggle as I didn't have a base of reference. Not a hard sell, which was appreciated. When the day came, the arrived on time, and pretty much went to work. Scoped out the area, put down cloths and removed the existing window with care. Plugged in, cut, finished, etc. They could have shown me how to use the window, but no big deal honestly. left the warranty papers.

very good installation but extremely poor followup

Estimate was 4th one received. Estimator was knowledgeable & only one of the 5 who seemed to understand what we wanted and could do the job. Installation took longer than expected from 9/20 to 11/18 - due to custom manufacturing of replacement kitchen garden window. Workmen were professional with an eye to detail. Though a bit more expensive than others, we have 3 new beautiful windows gracing our 100+ yr old home. Thank you Bob Werneth & American Thermal Window!

They have kept things clean and have had pride in their work. I prefer them over a remodeler because they just do windows and doors. They are very skilled.

We went to their showroom and from what we saw there, we decided on a different supplier because it was different from what we had seen elsewhere. We doubt if we would get another estimate from them.

Very smoothly. They were able to install from outside, allowing me to avoid removing several permanent shelves. The team was quick and very efficient.

She told me that she would contact someone and I would have to pay $85 service fee. I said okay. I did not receive a call back. I called back and two or three days later,I received a letter stating that they could not fix the condensation in my window. It appears like the window needs to be caulked. They could have come to check it out.

They did a great job measuring and installing the window. They were the only ones that could accommodate replacing our (6’x7’) window. My only complaint was that it took awhile to schedule and I kept getting different feedback about when the window would be ready. Other than that, I was happy with the result and their services.

The job went fine and the door is still working for us after 2 years. They are very responsive, friendly, no pressure, and their sales staff is reasonable.

In comparison with various other window companies, these products seemed very expensive for the quality. Salesman was pushy and unpleasant, often deflecting my questions and continually insisting I come to his showroom in order to get the answers I was seeking.

good product, fair price HUGE delays, which delayed other contractors...many unbelievable stories explaining delays when complaining over the phone was hung up on carpentry work around windows very poor, but SO SICK of this company that i will get it done by someone else

The experience was very positive. I had several quotes done for the work and ultimately went with American Thermal as they offered me several options and gave me unbiased input and recommendations (didn't push the most expensive option). For installation, the team was on time, professional courteous and CLEAN! The job took better part of the day (which they told me it would). Upon arrival they put booties on their shoes as to not drag in dirt/mud.They very carefully moved all my belongings out of the way, including taking down curtains and blinds. They covered everything to keep it dust free from the installation and laid down paper the entire length of my unit to keep the floors clean! When they were done, they put everything back (including the window treatments) cleaned up and even went so far as to sweep the sidewalk out front of the dust and dirt that was the result of taking out the old windows. When the windows were delivered, they included the wrong hardware, which is the way they were shipped from the factory. The woman in the American Thermal office followed up several times until she was able to get the correct hardware delivered and sent her team out to install it.

I was very happy and pleased with the whole experience. I was able to call the company with any concerns and problems, and I live close to the showroom so I was able to stop in to ask questions or resolve issues.

It was really good. They came when they were supposed to and put in the windows. The price was what it was supposed to be. It was average. They cleaned up nicely. It was a good experience. I haven't had any problems and it is cooler.

Excellent installation experience. Crew arrived 20 minutes early and once set up went immediately to work. Work was done neatly and carefully with almost no cleanup needed inside the home. The day of the installation was also a drizzly and dreary day and the crew made sure that nothing inside became wet. Once the job was completed, the foreman showed us how the windows functioned and answered any questions. We are very satisfied with both the quality of the work as well as the installed windows. We will definitely go back to them when we need additional windows or doors installed.

Sales and service was very good. My only complaint (minor) is that the guys could have been a little bit cleaner and more prepared to cover furniture, etc in the room they were working in.

We had looked at three other companies for the same work and we liked American Thermal Window Products Inc. Company. We wanted to get some masonry work done too and they were willing to take responsibility for that unlike the other companies that I had contacted. So, they were able to line that up. They got the masonry work done and they coordinated it well. It was sub-contracted. American Thermal Window Products Inc. Company offers good quality products. They also did good detailing work on the windows. Their price was really fair. I thought that we got really good value for what we paid. They did good work. They finished on time and followed through well. I?m pleased with the quality of their work. I?ve had no problems with anything they did so far. I have recommended them to couple of people I know who have already used them. I would continue to recommend them. I will use them in the future if required.

I think in general, they were overpriced. The workers were fine. They had left their tools here and had to come back and pick them up 3 days later. They were high priced. They showed up when they were going to and everything else was fine. They did a good job. The windows still work after 5 years. I'm happy. I would consider using them again in the future.

This company did a great job. We could not be happier with the windows. They look great and function perfectly. We had 21 old wooden windows that had all sorts of problems. The counterweights were messed up. Some of the upper windows were caulked closed. Basically they were old, single-pane, wood double-hung windows that would have made us miserable in the Chicago winter. Iver from American Thermal came out the same week we called. He arrived on time and at my request made a quick, but thorough presentation. I was in the middle of meeting with other contractors who had arrived late to their appointment, but Iver took it in stride. He measured the windows, explained the options, and sent me an email with the estimate later that same day. After comparing against other bids, we chose American Thermal based on price and reviews. They promptly ordered the windows from their supplier and when they arrived, the office scheduled the install within a couple days. Three installers came out and knocked out the project in 1 day. The one caveat I'd mention is that we were told the installation would be completely from the outside, but when they arrived they asked if it would be OK to work from both inside and outside. Our house was a totally a construction site at that point, so I said that would be fine. But if you weren't prepared for that with paper or drop-clothes on the floors, etc., I could see how that would be surprising. It would be better to let folks know they may have to do some of the work from the inside so the homeowners can move their stuff. All-in-all this was a small surprise and did not take away from the great job the installers did. Actually, I think being able to work from the inside too allowed them to do a better job by making sure the window fit correctly and looked right from the inside too. In any event, it all worked out well. We would highly recommend this company.

They were very nice. They were very professional, nice, friendly, and prompt. They took a little longer than the others. We liked the windows from another company and went with them. Their price was pretty much within the ballpark. They were extremely responsive.

I visited their showroom on Milwaukee Ave. to inquire about a sliding patio door replacement. I was able to see a sample of the sliding doors they use. An in-house appointment was immediately scheduled. During the in-house appointment, I was provided with more product information and Iver answered all my questions and concerns. I decided to make this purchase. Installation was right on schedule and the process was painless. Installers were professional and completed the installation with minimal disruption.

They have done a lot of work for my family. The guy was really honest and up front that it was going to be expensive. They gave us the best price. There was a lot of phone tag, but they were persistent and we finally got in touch. They were on time and extremely professional.

To replace the entire window, not just the glass, on a window 80x57, was $971. This was more work and higher cost that I wanted.
