The first step with Alno was for them to review our kitchen and give an estimate. Based on the estimate (which we were assured was "conservative") a large down payment was made and we were ready to move forward with the detail design. We got a surprise when the cost for the cabinetry after the detail design was several thousand dollars more than the estimate that we made our (non-refundable) downpayment on. This "bait and switch" tactic made us nervous, but in order not to risk loosing our downpayment we agreed with Alno to go back and revisit the detail design to bring the cost down. This was done, and the cabinetry was ordered and arrived as expected several months later. Unfortunately two of the cabinets delivered were damaged and several shelves were missing. Alno was quick to process an order for the replacement of the damaged cabinets and missing shelves and assured us that Alno would cover all the additional costs including installation of the replacements. When the cabinets arrived and the replacements had been installed, Alno backtracked on their promise to cover the installation of the replacements and pointed us to fineprint in the contract. Several very unprofessional phone conversations followed in which Alno denied having ever made any statement regarding replacement cost and even threatened to revoke our product guarantee. Alno never did pay for the cost of replacing the damaged cabinets that were delivered.
