I live in a condo which I bought last year. My first summer I had All Temp inspect the unit and all was fine. On 06/12/2013, I had All Temp come over to inspect the unit again because the unit wasn't cooling. The servicemen told me I needed a new system after saying something about draining and replacing the freon at $78/lb and it would need something like 8 pounds indicating it was going to be an expensive repair on an older unit that had seen better days. He set me up with an appointment with a salesman in short order. He found no specific problem. Being faced with a huge, unexpected home maintenance expense I wisely decided to get a second opinion and called Besco. Jonathon from Besco came and checked out the unit and checked out the unit and said the capacitor was busted. This needed to be fixed before the unit could even be assessed since it is essentially a blown fuse. He replaced it and the unit worked perfectly. I asked hm about the expected life on the system and he said around 5 more years! And the repair was less than $200 and took about 15 minutes! Here's the flip side; I called All Temp immediately and cancelled the appointment with the salesman that afternoon. They asked why I was cancelling and I explained what happened. The lady that answered the phone was very surprised this happened and apologized and I thought that was the end if it. This is why the Professionalism rating is a "C" and not an "F". Much to my surprise, one of the owners called me back and was very concerned with what happened. He could not apologize enough, was going to void the check I gave them the day before and send it back to me along with his business card and said to call him personally next time I need an inspection/tuneup because they were give me my next one free. He explained that their repairmen do not get any commission on sales. He was very sincere and could not apologize enough. So was the guy they sent just rushed? Did he make a simple mistake? Perhaps. I will never know what really happened. I tend to be very skeptical and defensive when it comes to situations that involve a pile of money. The one thing I took away from this experience was to always get a second opinion, if you can, when it comes to potentially huge expenses.

I was very pleased that they were willing to come by in a few days following my call to spec out the job, however, I have never received an estimate. I called twice to follow up and both times was promised a prompt response and in each case nothing was delivered.

I called on June 3rd to get an estimate for moving our central air unit closer to our home. I spoke with Rick Jacob who is the installation manager. Rick gave me a quote of 575-650 dollars. On June 5th I phoned Rick to set up an appointment to perform the task so I left a voice mail, but never got a called back. On June 6th I phoned Rick again to set up an appointment and left another voice mail, but again to no avail. The customer service people also took messages and assured me that he would get them but still no response. Finally on June 7th I called and asked could anyone else help me and I was told that only Rick could handle my situation. I told the customer service rep that if I didn't hear from Rick on Monday I would take my business elsewhere. After all why should I chase someone down to give them my business. TODAY.....NO CALL. To their credit, the customer service reps were all professional and seemed baffled themselves as to why I hadn't received any response from Mr. Jacobs. It just seemed as thought I kept getting the run around. Mr. Jacob's professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. UPDATE: After speaking with Mr. Jacobs on the 13th or 14th of June he apologized for the miscommunication and offered to have a crew come out that day. I had other obligations so we set the date for Monday June 17th. Sal and his crew were at my home promptly at 8:00. It was a 4 hour job and the crew did exactly what we need them to do which was to move our central air unit closer to our home. The crew answered any questions I had and were very professional. After they finished they cleaned any garbage and it was like they were never there. My wife and I are pleased with the results.

The first time I tried to have this work done I was given a Friday 2:30pm-6pm time slot. I received a call at almost 3pm saying that the technician had several calls before mine and he would be there between 9pm and 10pm!!! Are you kidding me?!?! Naturally I rescheduled for the next Friday. Due to the cold weather, the AC repair had to be rescheduled 2 more times. Finally, the day came and Ramon and his grandson, Xavier showed up to my home on time, calling 1/2 hour beforehand. Ramon was very friendly and professional. When he saw my furnace unit, he advised me that, despite my insistence, he did not need to clean it and that I would be throwing money away. I appreciated the candor and took his advice. He also gave me advice on the right air filters to use, and showed me how to replace the fuse in my breaker-box so that the AC would not buzz when it came on. All at no charge - I was loving him. Then he and Xavier went out to service my air conditioner unit out back. They quickly determined that the dual capacitor on the compressor needed to be replaced, but the good news was the compressor was OK. Then they told me that to replace the capacitor would cost $254!!! (before my Angie's list discount of 15%). I was shocked but said go ahead. I quickly went inside to see that the part only costs $16-$25 !!!!! By the time I went back out (5 minutes) the repair was done. I asked why it was so expensive. Ramon got a little cagey and just stated that this was the price that AllTemp charges. I told him I looked up the price of the part and he did not disputed the price. Ramon showed me in the AllTemp Technician's binder that this was in fact the official price. I don't mind paying a markup but 1000% is just gouging the customer. Ramon and Xavier went on to test the temperature and determined that I needed over 1 lb of Freon and that I probably have a slow leak. The price for this portion seemed reasonable. In fact, Ramon only charged me with 1 lb even though I took 1.25 lbs. All in all, Ramon was extremely professional, friendly, polite, and helpful. I really liked working with him. However, my trust in the value and fairness that AllTemp is charging its customers has been destroyed. Despite how much I like Ramon, I will probably not call on AllTemp again.

We signed a year contract for summer/winter service check ups. The first appointment in May, the company stood us up and didn't show. The second appointment of Wed. June 5th from noon to 5 PM, again the company did not show up. Having heard nothing from the company, we called about 3PM to ask, so...are you still coming? Oh yes they said. At 5:15PM Daniel called to say, they got backed up "with the rain and everything". It had barely drizzled. I rescheduled for Sat. June 8th, explaining I wanted a one-hour window given I'd donated over 8 hours waiting for them. On Thursday, June 6th , my husband called to speak with Bernie. He was directed to Shaun, the routing manager. Explaining we didn't like being lied to about why they didn't show, Shaun said the Saturday appointment might be a problem--how about Thursday afternoon? Our third appointment resulted in a technician coming and doing the routine checkups. Given I have heard UPS uses technology to reduce waste in travel, you'd think a HVAC company could too. They can't even call customers to confirm, or email or send smoke signals. My dentist communicates better (who I got from Angie's List). This company has some of the least customer friendly service I've encountered. Amended on Tuesday, June 11 After submitting a "satisfaction survey" that the company offered on the receipt for the work done, I heard from Robbie the owner/manager within an hour. He was effusive about admitting there has been a recent problem, he believed to some changes within the organization of personnel. He owned up to the problem (great) and asked for input from me how it could be better (good). Offered a small coupon for service in future. Reserving judgment now. Wouldn't recommend, but wouldn't not recommend either. Waiting to see. Saturday, June 15 Company sent a partial refund to recompense for issue. Reason I upped the grade from C to B. They are trying. We shall see in future, if we continue with them.

Super job. These guys know what they are doing !!! After HVAC inspection ( we had a smell problem in the house ) they found that the coil was destroyed ( even though it was only 1 year old ) due to debris all through our venting system after a renovation. We foolishly were not aware that all needed to be cleaned on renovation completion. They saved us a fortune too !! After checking the serial no. on the HVAC system John in their service dept. called the manufacturer to find if the coil was still under warrenty. IT WAS .... they ordered it immediately for us and we only had to pay labour (We would have never thought of checking warrenty ) new coil costs over $2K ...Service guys arrived exactly on time and after completing the instalation they showed me the old unit and I was horrified when I saw the amount of gunk and sludge on it. Thank you and I would have no hessitation in recommending this company and using again if / when needed

i have used All Temp before, mostly for servicing our old furnace. They did an adequate job with maintenance and cleaning and took care of minor problems. Actually my opinion of them was good. in early March of 2013, our furnace went out and i was quoted a competitive price for a 2 stage furnace and replacement of new humidifier unit. since i used them for maintenance in the past, and a neighbor used them for a new furnace install, i decided to purchase a new furnace through them. The initial install took about 5-6 hrs. and outwardly seemed fine. after further inspection several problems arose. 1. there was a ratting in the brand new furnace unit that was installed. 2. there was a loud buzzing from a relay to the humidifier unit 3. i didn't think the humidifier was working (although the installers and subsequent inspector said it was, without even checking, it took the 3rd service person to actually look and find out it was indeed not working). 4. they did not seal the duct work of the plenum extension they created allowing air to blow out the back. 5. they cut into a solid piece of 5 foot duct work to access an area to install a damper instead of taking the duct apart from the elbow joint (which i was even able to do on my own previously) then sloppily patched it with sheet metal leaving a large gaping hole in the back that was not sealed (pure laziness) 6. there was a 5 degree(higher) temperature difference with the new thermostat from my old. confirmed but unexplainable by the technician. i called them to address the situation. they replaced the blower motor which solved the rattling (who has to replace a blower motor on a brand new unit?!?), They tried to calk the corner and junctions but it was sloppy and did not work well. they then tried to put metal tape all over which looked very sloppy and unprofessional. they could not fix the other problems that visit and told me they had to come back. they came back to fix the relay to humidifier that was buzzing which did not fix the humidifier. i told them that i didn't think the humidifier was working. they checked and found it was not working and thought it was a solenoid valve problem. they had to come back another time and ultimately replaced the entire humidifier and still could not get it to work. they had to have someone come back and take apart the plenum and seal the connections, and replace the 5 ft tube they cut into. They replaced my Thermostat due to temperature discrepancies and forgot to reconnect my air conditioner to my thermostat control. they finally had to send out the senior service manager to fix the problem with my humidifier to finally get it to work. After actually 9 visits (or more), over the span of 2 months (and several days when it was 88 degrees in my house), they seem to have finally replaced what should have been done and checked properly the first time. now on top of all of this, they diagnose that my air conditioner has no Freon in it and needs to be fixed or replaced... (fine, its 13 y/o original builder grade AC.....just my bad luck). i figure i would get a quote from All Temp to replace since they installed my furnace and are familiar with my house. The service manager gave me a verbal quote with a "discounted price" for all the problems i had to go through with my furnace. i told him i wanted to relocate it to the roof off my deck and he said that price would include install there. after calling them 3-4 times to get this quote in writing and waiting 5 days to get someone to come out, then waiting another 5 days to get a written estimate (after calling to tell them i haven't received their quote yet), they give me a quote that was almost $1000 over what was quoted,with 2 yr less warranty (10 instead of 12), than what was quoted verbally to me by the service manager. The estimator was aware that i was quoted a price by the service manager and he said he would talk to him before giving me the estimate. i doubt that happened. if i wasn't so frustrated with their poor service, poor responsiveness to complete outstanding issues, and overall negative experience i probably would not be writing this negative review. They have already wasted an excessive amount of my time to get things fixed to what should be expected. Almost every time, I had to call the company to ask what was going on and when were they going to come out to fix these problems. They did not call me to proactively come and fix the problems that still needed to be done, even though that's what they submitted in their reports. if i had not called to follow up, it would still not be done today. At one point i had to threaten to exercise my 3 yr money back warranty to get them to do the things that needed to be fixed, not because i wanted that, but because they did not complete the install satisfactorily. When you spend thousands of dollars on a major purchase like this, you expect a certain level of competence and professionalism and follow up, which in my case was not met. Not once did the sales person ever call me back to follow up on how things were going and if we were satisfied. They had an opportunity to make this situation right with further business from me but they dropped the ball on this as well. They haven't honored a "discounted price" for compensation for my hassles/wasted time with my furnace installation debacle. That may have avoided this negative review. if you say something to me, i expect that's what will be done. no up charges, no changing of the price, length of warranties, etc. all that will do is just p*** me off (and buy you a negative review). Frankly, if you cant put what you say in writing your just blowing smoke out your a**. Unfortunately they have turned away a customer who actually thought highly of them and have lost a referral base from me. Perhaps for routine maintenance/ emergency calls they are probably fine. However my problems with installation and follow up and overall negative experience with this installation will make me look elsewhere for my HVAC needs.

The guy did the estimate helped talked me through the different options. He was very specific with what it meant to go with different levels and types of water heater. That helped us decide which one we wanted. He gave an estimate and we got what we wanted base on our needs. The guys were very professional. It was an easy job. We were pleased with their work.

Not well. Very surprising for a highly rated Angie's List company. Scheduled appointment for AC tune-up 2 weeks in advance. All-Temp canceled after the fact -- only when I called to see when the technician would arrive did they say sorry but they could not send someone out today. They made me reschedule another 2 weeks out. I am frustrated because I stayed home from work so that I could be here when the technician arrived. All Temp should have called the night before or even the morning of the appointment to let me know they were too busy. If a customer has to call in the afternoon to ask where is your tech -- only to find out All Temp never intended to send a tech, that is lousy service. I'm fine if a tech calls in sick or another job runs too long -- just let the customer know right away so they can return to work or other activities.

Very well. The quality of the work and communication was clear. The technician showed us the stress areas affecting the remaining expected life of the units and recommended replacing worn parts. All work was of high quality, completed on time, and within estimated amounts.

Our heater went out, as I knew it would. Of course it was cold. I called and someone came out within the hour!! They concluded that we needed to replace our entire HVAC system, which I already knew. He was able to turn on the heater and give us some heat to get through the day and into the night. The next day they came with the new system. It was basically installed the same day. They came back the following day to clean up and make sure the system was working. We got 15% off by going through Angie's List and another discount for replacing both the the heater and AC. Our total discount was $1311.00, which is great! They were professional, polite, cleaned up their mess. I can't believe they got the job done so quickly. I have the AC on right now and I love it. I would totally use them again and highly recommend this company. Working with them was am awesome experience.
