Description of Work: My blower motor burnt out on my 25yo furnace at 1am. Called the following morning at 9am and someone was here by 10:15am. Work was done by 11am. Though I'm sure I could have paid less, I am also sure that it would not have been resolved as quickly.

They came whenthey said they would got right to work, cleaned the water heater thingy and left. And were very conscientious about giving us th 15% Angie's list discount.

Description of Work: My fiance and I bought our condo in August and the air conditioning had worked fine and our inspector did not note anything wrong with the furnace. When it recently got cold, we turned it on and nothing happened. I tried to re-start it based on the owners manual, we changed the batteries to the thermostat and still nothing. The furnace was not turning on. So, I called around and got one quote that was $175/hour and figured I could do better. My colleague recommended All Temp so I called them and they said they could get someone out to my place that evening. It did require and overtime fee because my fiance and I could not get out of work but we were ok with the fee. For overtime, it was $125 for the first half hour diagnostic test and then it would cost if the technician needed parts or had to stay longer. Again, I needed my furnace to work so it was fine. Plus, the furnace is relatively new (2005) so I didn't think it would require a lot of work. I asked for the tech to arrive anytime after 5:30pm. Fransisco called at 6:30pm and let me know he was about 30 mins away, coming from the Southside. He arrive a half hour later and we looked at the furnace together. After a 5 min inspection, he found that a wire was missing from the thermostat. When the former owners installed the new thermostat themselves, they did not install the jumper wire between the air conditioning and the furnace so the AC could start, but the furnace did not. Description of Work: I had a PVC pipe that was backed up and causing my air conditioner to leak water all over my floor. The technician immediately recognized the problem within seconds of looking at my air conditioner and fixed it quickly. He also looked at other areas of my AC and explained other maintenance that I should schedule (e.g., replace the humidifier, etc.). My costs include signing up for the scheduled maintenance agreement where they will come out in the fall to do some maintenance on my furnace. Overall, they came out within hours of my call, were professional and diagnosed the problem quickly, and were knowledgable about the AC and heater. I will use them in the future for my AC and heater.

Description of Work: I had bought on Angie's List a $55 clean up the AC inspection get ready for summer certificate. I called them and they came out completely on time. I led the service technician and showed him that in the building are three different units and the one I wanted him to service was the one for the basement and first floor. I was getting ready for my 2yr old's bday which was happening the next day. We talked about how I still had the furnace on because it had been so cold in Chicago. After about 30 minutes or so of checking on the unit he informed me that he was really sorry but he found a crack in the furnace and that it could very dangerous for our family due to carbon monoxide poisoning and he was going to have to shut off the furnace. I explained that I had a bday party of 20 people coming the next day and no he was not going to shut off my furnace. I raced upstairs and found article after article that explained that the chance of my family or any family for that matter having carbon monoxide leakage from a home unit was really non existant. It explained that legally to protect their own interest, companies have to shut it off after inspection if they find one. I showed him the article and asked if it was his 2 yr old childs bday the next day and it being the end of winter and probably the LAST time I would have the furnace on that he would shut off his own. He told me that he would not, honestly he would leave it on and that "he hates this part of the job." I asked him why I wasn't warned that if in cleaning and refreshing my AIR CONDITIONING unit which is what I had bought the certificate for he didn't tell me that if he found a crack in the FURNACE he would have to shut if off so I could have decided whether or not I wanted to take the risk...he told me stories where he had to do this to families in the middle of winter and tha tI was lucky we were at the end of the season. I ordered him out of my home. Well, moments later, I got a call very similar to another review I read here where they could sell me a brand new furnace but actually all I needed to repair was the heat exchanger which happened to be covered by my warranty but it's $1100 for labor. I asked the man on the phone if he was oblivious to my exchange with the technician. He responded that he was but concerned with my safety. Sounded like a pretty well oiled scam to me. Had another company come out to replace the freon in my air conditioner which was all I needed and I would NEVER use All Temp again. Very disappointed in what I thought was a good trusting company. Sometimes these coupons are good ways for companies to turn smaller jobs into huge jobs. What a shame that when I do come to replace my furnace I would've used them and now I wouldn't if they were the only company in Chicago...which indeed they are not.

Description of Work: I had a high efficiency furnace installed. The installation was not done properly. The sales person who sold me the furnace which was too big for my house was interested in his Commission. They sent me a team who did not install the furnace properly. I contacted the president of the company who sent a different team to correct the shoddy workmanship. The second team did a fine job.

Description of Work: Came to look at our heating system, they turned it off in the middle of winter saying it was too dangerous to leave it on. They totally disconnected our heating system on a Friday so we could not turn it on. Told us they could come on Monday and quoted us for the job. Luckily North Town Heating were at my neighbours house, they came over, they reconnected our heat and could not believe that this company had turned off our heat and quoted us $500 less. Did the job that Monday and were very happy with North Town Heating.

Description of Work: I was put on hold transferred and put on hold 3 times. The people answering were very rude. After 20 minutes of waiting I hung up. I called a different company, with equal amount of positive reviews. My call was answered right away and I had a appointment scheduled in less than 5 minutes.

Description of Work: I signed up for their maintaince plan so they call me before spring and before winter to schedule service. They clean and do a check up. It is nice that they call and remind me that I have this service. I think the plan includes emergencies. I have used them for years and they are knowledgeable, don't upsell you (in fact they tell you the best way even if it is less). All of them have been good. I ask for Tom by name.

Description of Work: I called this All Temp a couple of months ago to get an estimate. My boiler broke down on the first cooldest day of December. I received 3 estimates and went with All Temp. They kept in touch with me, but were not too pushy. They did a great job and the installer Dale was very nice. I go a great price and the boiler looks pretty too. Would recommend them.
