All Temp really stood out when it came to calling and confirming appointment times. I really appreciated that. They demonstrating an amazing amount of flexibility. When they came out in the summer I had neglected to tell them about something until they were there. They immediately scheduled another appointment without any complaint or sarcasm. That was very nice that they didn't give me any grief over it.All of their personnel that have come out have been very friendly and have taken the time to explain what they are doing and why. I not only would use them again in the future but I also recommended them to my boyfriend.
Description of Work: They came out in the summer to do some maintenance on my air conditioning system. They came back in the fall to perform the same function on my heating system.

We called in the morning and by the afternoon they were installing the new furnace. They did a great job and cleaned up after themselves when the job was complete.

The whole job was extremely inexpensive. All Temp Heating and Air Conditioning did an outstanding job. The technician put in a thermostat at no charge. He said, "they should have put in one when they installed the new furnace." I was really impressed by the technician. I would use All Temp Heating and Air Conditioning in the future.
Description of Work: Our basement flooded and we had to replace the furnace. All Temp Heating and Cooling put in a whole new furnace for me. I signed a contract for them to clean out furnace and air conditioning at the beginning of each season. I called All Temp and told them I think I need a new thermostat. They sent a repair man to put in a new thermostat.

Responsiveness was excellent. Two-man team was courteous and friendly. At first I was given a 5-hour time frame, but I asked if they could narrow it, and they did. I called about 7 a.m., and they arrived 2 hours later. Tech called to tell me he was on his way. I was told thermostat may have shorted out because of the amount of dust in the unit. I have not been getting furnace serviced regularly. They could not service on the spot because they were doing "heat only" calls because a lot of people were without heat. Meaning another $95 service call, I assume. Only downer was price of the thermostat. I was charged $145; looked it up on the internet later and saw it was $37.95(programmable, similar to the one I replaced). Don't know if this is what most contractors do when marking up parts, but this sounds pretty ridiculous. Yet I'm grateful to have heat back quickly. Angie's List discount took $36 off bill of $240.
Description of Work: I had no heat coming from furnace. Tech told me after inspection that I needed thermostat replaced.

The overall experience was great. Once they assessed the problem, they helped me make sure the rest of the system was operating correctly, gave me some recommendations on other efficiency issues (where some new weather stripping would help), and waited around to make sure that the temperature did, in fact, start going up. I couldn't have asked for a better visit. Additionally, they put me on their maintenance plan, which includes furnace and humidifier cleaning/maintenance in the Fall and air conditioning cleaning/maintenance in the Spring. The best part is, they call to remind me, so I don't even need to think about it.
Description of Work: Our furnace was not operating correctly, our gas bills were astronomical and the furnace was making a loud banging noise when it would turn on and turn off. A service man and a trainee came to my place on time and quickly assessed the problem. The problem was a dirty filter (can you tell I'm a new homeowner?).

It was a horrendous overall experience. All Temp failed to correctly fix the A/C problem on the first visit, so a second visit was required. Both times the technicians failed to give me proper estimates up front despite my requests, and I later learned they had overcharged me for several parts, particularly $100+ for one part which retails for $10 at a hardware store. I'm not against anyone making a profit, but this kind of pricing was outrageous, and I was also disappointed by the dishonesty of the technician whom I had asked about the market price of the part. When I called to address this with the company, I was directed to a customer service manager who initially made the appearance of wanting to rectify the situation and keep me as a customer. But while he and I spoke and continued to trade voicemails over the next few days, their accounting department began to send me daily invoices and to make borderline harassing phone calls to me regarding my unpaid account balance-a balance which was only 2 or 3 days old and which I was actively discussing with their customer service manager. Soon I realized that conversations with the customer service manager were a charade and ultimately would be unproductive, particularly because he repeatedly addressed me as "sweetie" and then began to hang up on me when I called to follow up. In sum, I am truly baffled as to how All Temp received so many Angie's List awards and recommendations over the years. All Temp may be able to fool oblivious consumers who don't know better, but they fail miserably for educated consumers who stick up for their rights and seek fair and professional behavior. I will never use this company again and advise others to steer clear as well.
Description of Work: Air conditioning was not working, so we checked Angie's List and called this company based on ratings and the fact that it had received Angie's List awards several years running. The initial service call went fine and a technician was dispatched the same day.

They called me back within 20 minutes or so and he walked me through the different possibilities of what could be the problem. He helped me restart the furnace myself over the phone, diagnosed the problem and explained to me what he thought the problem was. He suggested that I use a different, cheaper filter which should eliminate the problem. I appreciated the quick call back and I appreciated that he spent the time on the phone with me. I was very happy with them, and I will definitely use them again.

It took them longer than they thought because of the drop ceiling and the way the upstairs apartment was. It took them a whole extra day to complete the work due to unforseen circumstances, but I have had no problems since then. They were engaging guys, they were entertaining each other and were very courteous and friendly. They cleaned up nicely after themselves.
Description of Work: I own a 2 flat home and All Temp came out and replaced a 20 year old furnace. They had to put in 2 furnaces because each apartment now needs its own air flow, and they needed to be self contained. They put in the duct work for the upstairs apartment, and then put in 2 furnaces.

Furnace stopped working at a rental property of mine. The tech came out promptly on a Sunday evening which was great. The problem turned out to not be the starter yet the circuit board, but the tech said he couldn't get the part until the next day. Put me in a little bit of a pickle since my tenants were home without heat and it was freezing that evening. Said he would make it out 1st thing in the morning. The morning came and went and I never heard from him (after leaving him a message on his cell phone as well). I called the company back and they got another tech to grab the part and get out there in a couple of hours and do the installation. Both techs were great, but the fact I couldn't get it fixed that evening and then again 1st thing in the morning was a little disappointing. However, they both seemed honest and new what they were talking about and doing.
Description of Work: Furnace went out, tech came and was going to replace the starter. Did all his tests and figured out it wasn't the starter. Actually put in a new starter just to confirm and it did not work. Said the circuit board went out. Another tech the following day had to come out and put it in since he said the warehouse was closed and he couldn't get a board until the morning. The other tech also did a bunch of test to confirm it wasn't anything else and confirmed it was the board. He installed and got the heat working again.

I came home from work on Monday, December 22, 2008 to find my furnace was not working. This was one of the days when the temperature was right around zero so our place was cold and I was worried. I didn't get home until after 6 PM so clearly I was calling for emergency service. I put the call into All Temp's emergency service operator and received a call back within 5 to 10 minutes. The employee told me up front the visit would cost $95 for a normal visit and an additional $30 for the emergency call and cost to repair any parts. Once I accepted the rate, he said someone would be by our place but that it would take a while due to high volume. The contractor arrived about an hour and half later and was able to diagnose the problem and fix it within 30 minutes (the problem wasn't serious). The contractor did charge me $40 for labor for 1/2 an hour and I was not told that upfront (I asked if the $130 was the total fee to which they replied yes other than parts), but was okay with it in light of the emergency call and freezing temperatures. Great job and thank you for the help!

Tony arrived on-time, but he had the wrong humidifier. I'm not sure why, the order we read called for the 600A model I requested. Tony got back in his truck and drove to a supply place he said was on Main Street which is no more than a mile from my house. He came back a couple hours later and said he had to go to a different supply store since the first place did not have the right model either. Granted, snow was coming down pretty heavy, but I wish he would have called to let me know. Regardless, Tony did a quick and painless installation. He also answered my many questions. I like to get a full sense of how everything works in case I wish to fix it myself someday.

Great experience. We had a room in our home that got poor heat. Our gas bills were sky high last year running our furnace more in order to get this room warm enough to live in, so we wanted some ideas on how to heat the room better. Mike Clark came out and provided us with a solution. The work started next day and took about 6 hours to complete. We couldn't be happier with the result. Our gas bills have almost been cut in half and the room is toasty warm now.

Early Nov 2008 salesman came to house and reviewed our situation. We needed to replace our 18 yr old furnace and A/C. He inspected our current units and made recommendations on an 80% furnace and a 13 Seer A/C. Note: we only expect to be in our house another 3 yrs, so I didn't want to invest in more expensive equipment. Also included new filter system and programmable thermostat. We told him we would be looking at other estimates and he was OK with that decision. We chose the Bryant system and All Temp because they were between $1000-$1500 less than competition. Also a high rating with Angie's List. I also liked their having "factory trained technicians" and all warranties through the manufacturer. I scheduled installation for early December when someone would be home. The two technicians that installed the system are father and son. They arrived early and got all the work completed in under 4 hours. They were polite, neat, efficient and knowledgeable. It had snowed the night before so there was a lot of snow and salt on the walk and driveway. They were careful to put on "booties" over their shoes and put down drop-cloths. They removed all the old equipment. The only work they could not finish was starting the A/C as it was too cold. They will be back in the spring to complete the work. Before leaving they provided me with the product manuals and explained the equipment operation. They cleaned up any debris and swept the driveway where they collected the old furnace. It has been over a week since the equipment was installed and the weather has been extremely cold. My furnace is running great and the house is more evenly warm than in the past. My only negative is no one has followed up to find out if we are satisfied. Seems to be a major fault with salespeople. Get the order and disappear.

The overall experience was positive.
Description of Work: The salesman was prompt and courteous. He answered all my questions and provided an estimate the same day. It was actually the lowest estimate we received - $3150 for a two stage Bryant Plus 90T furnace plus an Aprilaire 500 Humidifier. The company had high ratings from both Angie's list and the Better Business Bureau. The actual reason we went with a slightly higher cost furnace was that Consumer's Report rated Trane furnaces higher than Bryant.

Scheduling went great. We have used this company for at least 10 years both for service and purchase and installation of equipment. When the tech came to service the furnace, he cleaned both and left, saying that the non functioning furnace was working properly, just needed to be reset. About 1 hour after he left, I found that the furnace fan would not turn off, even if you turned to dial to "off". I called back and they sent the tech out again and they were at least prompt in getting the guy back out that day. This time he looked at it and said the motherboard was shot and needed to be replaced. As now I was unsure, I told him that it'd talk to my husband and call to reschedule service/replacement and to also give me an idea of what a new furnace would cost. By the next day, I had a salesman calling telling me he talked to the tech and we definitely needed a new furnace to tune of $2000-2500. When I told him that the tech said it was definitely the motherboard, he said the tech told him our unit was completely rusted out and there was a high danger of carbon monoxide problems and, therefore, we needed to get a new unit. As he understood we had some price cap said he could give us the above wonderful price. I told him that we did have a price cap and it was basically zero! There was no way we could afford a new unit regardless if we financed or not. Absolutely not in budget. I called back to the company and gave them this info, told them I thought it seemed fishy and scheduled service for the motherboard. They got a person out within a few days. He (being from the same company as their salesman) told us there was nothing wrong with the unit in terms of rust and that we should get many years from it. Although he left a complete mess when he left, we were happy to have the situation resolved. As he was about to leave, my husband noticed that all the heat was blowing from the furnace itself into the room; in other words, not venting properly up the furnace. He called the guy back up to look at the unit and he said it was obvious to him that there was an obstruction in our chimney. Not his problem, call a chimney guy. The furnace was turned off again (it'd been 1 1/2 weeks by now and the house was registering about 56 degrees during the day). We had a chimney guy come out, he did all his stuff and said there was no obstruction. Then he looked at the furnace, opened the window in the room a crack and turned it on. Voil ! The intake starting working perfectly. $150.00 later to the chimney guy just to crack a window for a nanosecond. I called All Temp back to complain. I talked to someone in customer service and said we should be compensated for the cost of a chimney guy. She was pleasant and helpful but said I'd have to talk to the head guy. I held for him for about 10 minutes and was to be called back. He never called back.
Description of Work: My furnace fan was running non-stop. I called to get both furnaces serviced and cleaned (by purchasing a service agreement) and at the same time have the non functioning furnace looked at for problem evaluation.

All-Temp returned our call immediately, and told us that we would get $30 off because we found them on Angie's List. The technician arrived reasonably promptly, and took the time to give my husband a mini-tutorial on how to relight the furnace, how to install a thermostat, etc. We were also told about the poor quality of our humidifier (apparently an ineffective, cheap contractor-grade unit) and the technician removed some mildew pads for us. I expected to pay more than $100 for a Sunday morning emergency call, that's for sure. I would use this company again in a minute.
Description of Work: Our humidifier was dripping into the furnace and extinguished the pilot light. We woke up to a 64 degree house and called All Temp to reignite the furnace. We were promised service within a hour; the technician showed up a few minutes late, but otherwise the visit was great.

All Temp charged $130 for the service call, parts, and labor. This was far cheaper than the quote we received from another highly rated Angie's List company. Unfortunately, their suggested repair did not fix the problem. However, I would still recommend them because they seemed to be very knowledgeable, quick, and prompt. We ended up getting a new water heater. We went with a home improvement store because All Temp said they only carry one brand of water heater and the size we needed cost $1,044 for parts & labor. The home improvement store charged only $768 to install a high quality 40 gallon water heater which included a 12 year warranty. For service, I would definitely call All Temp again.
Description of Work: The pilot light on our water heater was not staying lit. All Temp came out and replaced the thermocouple. They warned us that it may not work, but to save us money, they thought it would be prudent to try the thermocouple before replacing the water heater.

I sent an email on Sunday morning asking whether they would be able to conduct an overall check up of my condo building's steam heat system. I got a call within an hour. They suggested they were not ideal to conduct such an assessment but gave me the name of two companies that specialize in such work. (It is impossible to figure this out from the information provided on Angie's, so I was shooting in the dark a bit.) I found the information they provided to be very useful and will likely end up using one of the two companies they recommended. Very professional, helpful and exceedingly prompt.

Terrible. The technician did not have the courtesy to wear booties inside our house. When we told him to wear it, he complained severely. To add insult to injury, the guy had absolutely no clue as to how to diagnose the problem and how to fix it. He first started fixing the wrong furnace, then thought it was the thermostat, then the relay, then the pressure switch, etc. After I figured he didn't know what he was doing, I told him to leave it. I then called another heating and a/c company, and the technician came in, diagnosed the issue in less than 10 mins, and fixed it. I cannot believe how disappointed I am in the experience with All Temp in light of their ratings on Angies List.

Very very disappointing. I would not recommend or use them for services again.
Description of Work: The heating in my condo did not work. I called them to setup an appointment based upon reports on Angie's List. Since I could not take time off from work, I asked my wife to take a half day. When the technician came, he did not understand and could not figure out the furnace in my condo. According to my wife, he was just trying to figure out how the system was setup for the first half hour (as opposed to spending the time to diagnose the problem). Then he called someone to figure out what the issue was. He apparently did not get thru on the phone with this person and started getting angry (either at himself or the person on the phone) and said stuff like "what the he&&, sh&&". My wife was definitely not impressed with either the expertise or behavior. Somehow the technician spoke to someone and figured out (supposedly) what the issue was. He said a certain part needed replacement and it would cost $400 to replace the part. After that, he proceeded to go over and get the part and replace it. My wife called me when he went out to replace the part and I was livid at the type of service and expertise I recieved from the "so-called-experts." I called them and asked them to cancel the part replacement as well as any further service. If they want to charge me for an initial diagnosis of $95, so be it. But this is the last time I would go to them.
