When dealing with them, they are very nice. However, they did not install a feature on thermostat that uses outside temp for humidity. I had to ask to find out it was not installed (nobody offered to tell me to me after installation) and then getting it scheduled for installation was horrible. Took many phone calls and a lot of frustration. Then when I spoke to owner he explained there was a death in the family - apparently this is a smaller family owned business - and that was the reason for lack of responsiveness. While I am empathetic, someone should have been more prompt in at least returning calls.

I woke up and it was cold in the house. No heat. I checked Angies List for heating contractors near me with a good rating. I called ALL TEMP HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING INC. They were polite and helpful on the phone, she said she'd send a technician. He was here within the hour and he was pleasant and professional. He fixed my problem promply and cleaned and adjusted my boiler and pilot. I am very satisfied, and would recommend them to anyone.

We didn?t have to pay for anything. They came in and recharged the air conditioner. They are prompt and professional. The other work which they have done for us in the past has always been good. They had installed an ejector pump for us a long time ago. They had one guy come in and do sloppy work. He got some glue on our carpet and had removed it. They actually came and replaced it. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning Inc for heating and air conditioning. They came in and did some maintenance work for us in September 2010 on an air conditioner that was installed by them. The big work was on the air conditioner which they installed for us about two years ago.

My experience with all-temp started when Mike came to provide me an estimate for two new HVAC units. They would be replacing two 3-YO units that never worked effectively cooling our house. I think the builder just went with the lowest bid on the new house we bought so they never worked well. Mike gave us a quote for the two units which ended up being about equal to the other quotes I received. We would have done this work with all-temp but then we discussed another option; contacting the MFG to discuss any warrranty on the units. That is the route we chose and the MFG arranged with all-temp to provide and install new coils, which they did. We then decided to move the two units just to provide more ventilation. The move is done and I am recommending all-temp primarily because they stood by their commitments and their salesperson, Mike, was top notch. He was responsive, honest and fair throughout the process. This was not your ordinary project.
Description of Work: Repair HVAC coils and then move both units from under the porch to the side of the house in order to provide more ventilation.

I had a great experience. I had several companies out to give me estimates for a new furnace and air conditioner and was most impressed with Dave Clark from All Temp. He was the only one to complete a heat load calculation for my home, wear booties to cover his shoes, and give me several options regarding equipment efficiencies. I ended up choosing the a 95% Bryant furnace and matching 16 SEER air conditioner. It wasn?t the least expensive quote, but I felt the best value with everything included and the guarantees offered. The installers showed up 2 days later and everything went just as Dave said it would. They spent about an hour cleaning up afterward along with explaining everything I needed to know about the new system and thermostat. Dave also followed up a few days later to make sure everything went well and to see if I had any questions or issues. I thought that was a nice touch.

All the work was quoted reasonably, all appointments kept....and on time. Every employee showed up and each was far more professional then what I was use too. Polite and respectful to myself, my wife and my tenants....everything , well...perfect. All that was great, but what about results? As of this month, every problem I have had each winter season systemicaly has GONE AWAY. One breakdown all winter, and repaired on a Sunday 4 hours after they were notified. Not 12 to 20 breakdowns like prior seasons, each with an excuse and a reason for being late, or not showing up at all and having to re schedual. The invoices I have received from All Temp were fair....and because they alleviated a huge amount of problems...a bargain. Several tenants have been with me for 20 years and they were even impressed. I can't say enough about these guys. I use to counsel others.... "if you find a good mechanic....you keep him. You don't go anywhere else or try anyone else." Now I can finally say the same regarding my heating and air conditioning guys....All Temp.
Description of Work: This is my first review on Angie's List, joining because I just have to rave about this particular company....publicly. Owning rental property in DePaul and having used several heating and ac companies over the past 30 years, including one owned by a fellow I have known since childhood. I own one building of 12 units of 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and another building of 14 units of 3 bedroom apartments. Since replacing the units in both buildings 13 and 11 years ago, I have had many problems each season, using the companies chosen for the install for maintenance and repair, without things ever improving. A friend referred me to All Temp, so I gave them a try.

I received a very nice phone call from the VP who apologized for the terrible service. Explained they let go the tech and followed up with a great letter and refunded me.
Description of Work: UPDATE. Mike Clark, VP at All Temp reached out and notified me after my report above that they fired the tech that came to my house and gave such bad service. Not only did they cut me a check for the $65 that I paid Angie's list he sent a very nice apology letter (following up to our phone call) and a Amex gift card to cover the expense that we incurred when we had to have another company come and preform the services. Very classy company. ORIGINAL REVIEW... Purchased Angie's Deal of the day and received 50% of cleaning of my furnace. The "sales man" I mean technician decided to say that EVERYTHING was wrong with my furnace and my hot water heater. I needed UV lights bc there was a bit of mold in the humidifier. I said, no thank you for the add ons and he "cleaned" my furnace. NO WAY. I had another heating/cooling company come out same day to inspect what was said needed to be done and most of what he said was no true. The worst part is that I purchased the Angie's List Deal of the day and the service of CLEANING was not even preformed. This company just took my $65 basically to come out and try to make $2000 of work that did not need to be done.

Description of Work: Burner on furnace was rusted and closed. Called All-Temp they came out same day, inspected and repaired valve. Valve failed two-weeks later. All-temp came back out and fixed it again at no charge. Pleased with communication, honesty, timeliness, and guarantee of service. Was able to use Angie's list coupon which brought the overall charge down to approx. $70.00 which was great. All-temp honored coupon. Would use again.

I called All Temp when my heat stopped, and Pete the technician arrived quickly. He looked at the furnace and determined that a safety switch got tripped. He pushed it in, and then within a minute or so it tripped again. Then he put his hand near the motor and suddenly concluded the motor was shot because it was too hot. Without removing the motor or any other part of the furnace except the cover, I was skeptical about this rapid conclusion. He pulls out his price book, says a repair would be a minimum of $700 and the warranty would be just one year, so he recommends buying a new furnace from All Temp. Then he tells me he cannot get the heat to start again and gives me the bill which reads, in its entirety, 'diagnosis /referral to John in sales' and charges me $95. 30 minutes later I saw my neighbor come home. He is an HVAC guy so I asked him to check out my furnace. He came over, and quickly determined the safety switch was tripping because my circuit board was fried. He hooked up a temporary workaround to give me heat until he could get the replacement part. Meantime, in the span of 45 minutes, John, the All Temp salesman, had called me 4 times on my cell phone, left 3 messages, and called 2 times on my house phone. A few minutes after my neighbor left, the salesman (who I had not yet called back) showed up at my house, ready to sell me a new several thousand dollar furnace! What service! My guess is he wanted to quickly close the deal before my husband came home because he thought I was a dumb housewife who could be easily duped, as I was sitting in the cold. To summarize: All Temp service came, poked around for 20 minutes, never even removed the cover to the compartment with the circuit board, magically concluded my motor was shot, did not fix anything, charged me $95 and then wanted to sell me a furnace for thousands of dollars while leaving me with no heat to freeze for the night. My neighbor came and got my heat to work in 5 minutes and returned the next day and replaced my circuit board - for a heck of a lot less than $700. While some of these technicians must be honest and good based on all the feedback, clearly they also have employees who are either incompetent, dishonest or both. DO NOT USE.
Description of Work: All Temp came to determine why my heat suddenly stopped working. I was charged $95 for the 'diagnosis' as it read on the service ticket, which more accurately would have read "mis-diagnosis." The only other item on the service ticket besides the word diagnosis was 'referral to John for new furnace'.

Very happy with the installation process. The technicians were very professional and took care to minimize mess as they worked which is important in a small loft condo where the HVAC equipment in adjacent to the living area. About a month after the installation there was an issue with water leaking from the newly installed humidifier. All Temp was very responsive in diagnosing and addressing the issue as well as in repairing the water damage that occurred to some of the drywall in my downstairs neighbor's unit. While it was an admitted pain to deal with the issue, stuff happens and the cramped space allotted for the installation created challenges that contributed to the initial humidifier issue. Given All Temp's prompt and courteous response in addressing the issue, I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to others.

I have used All Temp before, with very acceptable results, however this was one very bad and substandard experience. Briefly, the service technician, while attempting to reach the furnace with his ladder, he slipped off the ladder and scratched the wall in two places as well as dented the floor. He was uninjured, but the way the ladder was handled really speak of inexperience working on polished hardwood floors (when All Temp technicians provided service before they used A-type ladder instead of the single branch ladder used this time) When he called his supervisor, Bernie, he put him on the phone, and Bernie in a very unprofessional way told me that it is my fault that my floor was polished, that the issue was not a priority for him, and he will get the owner to contact me when he/she is around. After informing him that his approach was unacceptable and really unprofessional, he said that they will take care of the problem, he will contact the owner as soon as possible and will get back to me. I have agreed based on that to allow them to continue to do the service which they completed and the problem was resolved. I was charged $90 which I gladly paid. I called Bernie the same day asking for a follow up, and he asked me to try to locate someone who can fix the wall. I was traveling and I informed him that I expect him to take care of that problem, he again stressed that he needed to discuss with the owners. The day after wards one of the owners, Kelly, called me and the I explained the problem to her. Her demeanor was much nicer and professional. She asked me if I can locate someone to fix the problem, otherwise she will send someone to take care of the problem the the following weekend. I have then decided to actually have someone fix the problem, and I called her back, she informed me that they will pay for the costs in the range of $50-100. The person that hired did show up and fix the problem, and issued me a receipt for $60. Since then I have called multiple times, left voice mails, and spoke with Bernie the supervisor, but till today I have not received any response back. The amount of money is not the issue really, and it is relatively small. The real issue is the substandard unprofessional and irresponsible service that can mean bigger problems if larger damages, workmen injury would have occurred. Fortunately, this was not the case here, but I do believe that other customers should be aware of this incident. I am glad that it has just cost me $60 and a minor headache. I was contacted subsequently by Mike who sincerely apologized for the whole incident, issued me immediate refund for the service as well the dry wall repair. He also included a 1 year worth of maintenance service. I am very pleased with how responsive the company was.

My dissatisfaction is due to the handling of what is now 3 service calls over the last 2 months. I feel the technicians that have come to my home have been very good and have done excellent work, but my experience with the office has been terrible. First time I called, I asked for a repair of the furnace (noisy impeller) and to arrange for a regular cleaning service. A technician was sent and completed the repair, but indicated he did not have time to do the cleaning and that we would need a separate service call. He also indicated that there was a fault code on my furnace and said that I was using too restrictive of a filter, and also pointed out that water was leaking from my humidifier. I called again and asked for an appointment to install a new humidifier. When I spoke with the salesman John, I also indicated that we had a fault code on the furnace that I would like addressed and that my water heater started acting up as well. He said he would email me a quote. I never got the email and it took 3 more calls over the next 2 days to actually get it. There was nothing about the additional services on the quote, just the humidifier, so I emailed John back and told him that I want the furnace checked (probably needed cleaning) and the water heater fixed as well. He replied that he would tell the technicians. Now I arranged for a day off in order to accommodate this, so when the technicians arrived and said they didn't know anything about a cleaning or a water heater I was upset. They did a good job installing the humidifier, and even informed me that our furnace was running hot and probably needed a cleaning, to which I told him I knew, and that I had tried to have that added to the list of things I wanted done. He said he I would have to make another appointment. He did take a minute and looked at the water heater. He pulled apart the burner assembly and cleaned it up. The problem was (is) that the pilot light will not stay lit and consequently the burner never lights. The unit is only 2 years old. The tech explained to me that this just happens with these models and that my utility closet was too cramped to allow proper airflow which was probably the cause. The unit has a 10 year warranty so just quitting after 2 years is not acceptable and we've not had any issues with airflow up until the trouble started so I have a hard time believing the layout of the room was the cause of the problem. I said I would monitor the heater for a few days to see if his cleaning helped. It didn't take that long, once they left, the burner stopped and pilot went out just like it had been doing. I called to schedule another appointment for a furnace cleaning and explained to the lady that took my call that twice now the services I wanted performed had not been completed. I got an apology but no explanation, and a morning appointment 2 weeks out. Today, I received a call from the office around 8:30 saying the technician was 20 min out. At 11:30 I called the office to ask whats going on. I just want to note here that if you don't choose the right options in the automated message system you get forwarded to Ric's voicemail which appears to be a dead end. I've managed to end up here about every 3rd call to them. When I finally choose the right options I end up at the service department who checks for me and then tells me that the technician never got the text message to come to my house. At this point I'm wondering how they assign jobs for the day. They offered to send out the next available technician or reschedule for next week. As I had somewhere to be this afternoon, I couldn't wait for an evening service call, and I am too frustrated at this point to want to do business with them any longer. I've liked the technicians, but they all seemed hampered by by scheduling. I've not had a good experience at all dealing with the office. From reaching them, to working with the salespeople. I got the feeling I was being talked down to and consequently, taken advantage of. I initially chose All-Temp because of all their glowing reviews and the thought that a larger operation might have more availability for service calls. turns out they didn't work out for me. Update as of 2/15/11 I received a call from Mike Clark apologizing for the service failures and offering a partial refund of some of the services recently performed. I am glad to see that All-Temp is trying to make things right, though I wish it didn't take a bad review to bring this about. I have already scheduled to have my water heater serviced by another company, but as I had not chosen another HVAC provider yet, I decided to give All-Temp another chance. Mike scheduled an appointment for this coming Saturday before 11am and offered the service complimentary. I will update this again pending the recent promises and scheduled service call. Update as of 2/19/11 I have updated my rating of All-Temp based on the excellent service recovery by Mike Clark and his team. Mike recognized a service breakdown and went above and beyond to make it up to us. On our last visit a tech came out and addressed all lingering issues, and identified that our AC coil was causing a blockage in the system. Another visit was scheduled and the tech that came out this time did a fantastic job cleaning out the system, and was very courteous as well. My only recommendation is if you have any difficulties with service, be sure to call and let them know. No one is perfect, and occasionally things go wrong, but it's how you handle it after the fact that really sets apart the good from the bad.

They charged me $4784 for the service. They had to replace some coils that went wrong. I think they are a good company. All of their workers have been very nice people. Initially, I was not sure what was wrong with the furnace, but ultimately I did find out. I did have to do a little bit of negotiating, but they did give me a very fair price. They were respectful and professional. The technicians were extremely nice, extremely professional, and extremely friendly. I am not sure if I can comment on the price. I will use this company again in the future.

I had no heat in the morning. I called at 8 am. They told me by 1 someone would be here... by 9:30 someone was at my door. It was awesome. Steve figured out the problem was the circuit board malfunctioning and not giving power to the motor/igniter, etc. Unfortunately I had to replace it. But he found the part quickly and went to pick one up and it came with a free top of the line igniter upgrade! He installed everything very quickly and was very nice. I saved a good bit of money using the Angie's List Discount 15%! I now have heat again! I will definitely use All Temp for all my hvac needs.

Outstanding service! I was able to schedule an appointment very quickly. I was also given a window of time when the work would be done, and the technician arrived and performed all the work within that window. Unlike my previous service provider (Emanuel Bros) that would cancel again and again, and then show up and use generic parts that required a return visit, ALL TEMP did it all once and perfectly. Their prices are what I know to be the standard, but given the quality of the work, I think they are more than reasonable. Finally, I tip my hat to them for being a firm with great integrity. They caught a billing error, which was in their favor, and called me immediately and rectified it. Bravo!

Furnace wasn't heating properly. Set temp to 70 but would only go to 65. This was the evening before the big snow so I didn't want this to go into the next day and possibly be told nobody could come out to service because of the snow. Called them at 6:30pm, technician arrived by 7:40pm. Tech asked questions about furnace history and what might have changed recently to help determine issue. Showed me what the issue was, fixed it, informed me how to read the codes if/when the furnace is not working properly so I can self diagnose next time and if service is needed to be able to tell them exactly what the issue is based on the code. Frank the technician was efficient, helpful and didn't try to sell me anything that wasn't needed. A sensor just needed to be cleaned, not replaced, not a new furnace to try to sell me or other services. Frank was in and out in 20 minutes.

On Wednesday (1/12), my wife and I noticed that our furnace was sputtering - kicking on and immediately shutting off. We had noticed this in the past, but our condo unit was still relatively warm. However, at 8 pm that night the furnance completely shut off. I emailed Robbie Mehrholz, President of All Temp and asked for their help. They arranged to have a technician come to my house the very next morning. Within 15 minutes, the technician assessed that the electrical circuit board was shorting out and causing the furnace to not fire up. He arranged to get the correct replacement part and installed it. The furnace started working again without any issues. I would call All-Temp again for issues related to my furnace again as they were prompt and able to diagnose and fix the issue quickly.

First Thursday evening emergency service call was responded to promptly. Problem diagnosed as a bad gas control valve. Technician got unit heating again but I still had All-Temp order new valve which was installed on Saturday around noon. Within a few hours, heating unit failed again. Called emergency service and second technician came out early Saturday evening. Problem immediately diagnosed as a bad electronic control board. New board ordered and third technician came out late Tuesday afternoon to install board. Heat has been working since board installed. All-Temp sent me a bill for an additional $310 for the control board (after the $500 for the service call and valve). I had an issue with the additional cost since the control board was the problem and the valve was misdiagnosed. I went to the All-Temp office and spoke with Bernie regarding my situation. After explaining the sequence of events, Bernie agreed to waive the $310 control board cost. The bottom line is this sequence of events could have turned into a very challenging and negative situation but Bernie's professionalism and understanding retained a customer and generated this positive review. Thank you All-Temp.

Saturday morning my furnace in the 2nd floor unit was out. So I immediately called All Temp they picked the phone up right away said they can have someone out here before 2 and they did just that. Not only was the service tech punctual but informative and helpful he cleaned the furnace in both units and checked flame sensor and pressure switch on furnace upstairs.

Company was easy to work with from the estimate, to price negotiation, to scheduling of the installation and into the actual install dates. This was not a case of a broken (no heat) furnace so I did have the time to research both the company and the products to make my decision. Pleased with the outcome.
Description of Work: Installation of a new furnace and air conditioner. 2 day project with 2 installation men. They did a wonderful job explaining what they were going to do and why, good clean-up (inside & out), and gave me a thorough overview on operation, filter switching, etc.
