All Temp Heating & Air Conditioning

Let me break this review into two sections: Mike the salesman - He was great, he came in took lots of measurements and answered all of our questions. Mike also took numerous phone calls from me over the next week or two as we tried to figure out which company to go with. He was very professional and a pleasure to work with. The installation - Two men showed up who were adequately polite. I was worried when they continuously talked about how they had gotten paid the day before so they were out drinking till early in the morning. They were clearly hung over and I am still a little worried about their work. We bought two AC units that had to be carried to the 4th floor deck. The guys managed to carry the two units up the stairs, but along the way they were resting the heavy boxes against the walls and hitting the ceiling of the staircase leaving quite a few marks. One last note on the cleanliness, I offered them bottles of water which they gladly accepted. I was happy to do offer water and even offered to buy lunch, but was disappointed to find many of the bottles left on my deck and the front yard in hidden locations after they left. Let me get to my real issue with the installation. I heard a loud bang and went to the 4th floor to see what was going on. Just as I was arriving the guys were throwing the second of our old AC units over the roof. The guys told me I was not supposed to see this and not to worry they would pick up all the pieces of the old AC unit laying 4 floors below. The units were heaved into a public school driveway where cars and kids were walking around all morning. So two days later the units seem to be working well. The units are quiet and our house is cool. We were going to have them look at fixing another AC issue, but I was all to happy to get these guys out of my house. The installers did not want to talk much, so I was told nothing about how the installation went, any maintenance needed or anything about their work.

This is an update to a previous review posted for an AllTemp service call. The VP of AllTemp, Mike Clark, contacted me to discuss the issue my daughter experienced back in March with her heating/ AC in her newly purchased condo. A new service appointment was set up last week and everything has been resolved. The service rep did arrive later than the designated time. [That's sometimes what happens if you're not the first appointment of the day, especially when the temperature is over 90 degrees.] He went right to work diagnosing the entire HVAC system and found some problems that weren't in the condo. [A mouse had chewed through one of the hoses connected to the outside A/C unit.] Inside, he found that one of the digital controls was totally shot and replaced that as well. The service was above and beyond what we expected, and we appreciated that AllTemp took the extra steps to make right issues that had been overlooked during the first service visit. I want Mike and his staff to know they have restored my faith in businesses that truly want to provide the best service, give step by step information on what needs fixing and want their customers to be happy. With this kind of follow up service, if there are any problems in the winter, we will definitely call AllTemp!

Serviceman was on time but a little grumpy when he found he had to go on the roof. I had told the receptionist that when I made the appointment. Overall he did a good job and I would call them again for service.

Roberto was pleasant, knowledgeable, and cleaned/checked the performance of the unit. Nothing extraordinary was needed, and nothing extra was charged. We used the Angie's list coupon and it worked great. Overall we're very satisfied and will definitely use All-Temp again.

Picture it: Sicily, 1927...wait, that was the Golden Girls rerun last night. My air conditioning units died in 97 degree heat on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. I called in hopes of getting service on Tuesday. The answering service took my call and said that someone would call me back within the hour. They did. The person who called me back quoted me a service call price of $125 and took my information about the problems. She called back a few minutes later to suggest that I check something and after I checked she said that she would have a service technician call me within the next two hours about when they could get to my house THAT DAY! Again, they called within the time frame promised and Eddie arrived shortly after he called. He was very informative, explaining to me what he was doing and what he was going to do next. He showed me what the problem was in each unit and fixed them both (they had different problems). He walked me through how to avoid the problem in the future and although he was underneath a deck in scorching heat and in cramped quarters he was never anything but polite, friendly and helpful. As he worked he told me what the cost of each problem would be before he fixed it. And reviewed his work with me as he went along. The total cost for the service call, the parts and coolant was only $390 on a Sunday on a holiday weekend. I will continue to use them and will likely ask for the same service tech. He was awesome. The A/C is keeping the house nice and cool, so the work performed gets top marks too.

All Temp Chicago Htg & A/C did a good job. They did come after the call and inspected and cleaned. They gave me a 10 % discount on $89. The initial amount was scratched off from the bill and after discussion from the office the discount was given.

We were very pleased with air conditioning inspection. The young gentleman who did the inspection was informative and very nice. He told me that our compressor was shot in the a.c. He outlined a few options and then had his supervisor, a man named John, call us to discuss these options. We were given three options: look for a replacement compressor which would be hard because of the date of the machine, replace just the outdoor a.c., or replace the outdoor and indoor air handler as well. This final option would be very expensive. We were going to discuss these options, so I called John Lister (not sure of the spelling), the gentleman who had called me the day the inspector was there. He never returned my call. I called again and he said he was working on an estimate for costs, but again he didn't call me back. In the meantime I was calling another company for a second opinion as a back up. Unfortunately I never heard back from John from All Temp. Overall I would recommend All Temp for inspections, but I can't really recommend them for follow up customer service.

Eddie, the technician, arrived within the quoted noon-5pm time spread, checked the outside ac unit, installed some coolant, checked the compressor and other factors, explained in clear terms the present condition of the unit and cleaned it. Inside, he checked the furnace humidifier which was discovered to need a new filter. Eddie said the technician coming in the fall would bring a new one with him. He also checked our electronic air filter system and discovered that it needs new filters. He made a phone call, ordered and will install them on Thurs. 5/31 between noon-5pm. Eddie did a great job of clearly explaining everything as he went along and because he has his own po # was able to order the new filters directly which made replacing them far more efficient. He worked quickly and thoroughly and cheerfully. I would recommend him to any who call All-Temp will request him in the future. Initially, there was a mix-up in the original time of the service. I called the office when a technician had yet to arrive and Francine, with whom I spoke, immediately solved the problem. Even though I was somewhat agitated, Francine remained calm, polite and effective. Her professionalism dispelled my irritation, saved me my afternoon and All-Temp a customer. I continue to recommend All-Temp, their services, staff and discount membership.

I'm writing this review on my mother's behalf. She called on May 14, 2012 and made an appointment. They were able to schedule an appointment for May 23, 2012. The technician, Edwin, arrived during the appointment window. He was thorough and walked her through everything he did to check the unit. Edwin was prompt and courteous and even gave her a discount. My mother has used this company for her boiler service and decided to try them on her air conditioning which is a separate unit in the attic. She will now use them for both units.

The cleaning was very thorough, it had not been cleaned in years. Technician was cordial and inquisitive. Asked many questions, including equipment background questions & asked about problems with furnace. I have not had problems - but realized I should have it checked. Stated the equipment was aging and might soon need replacement. He found a problem with the gas valve that he was unable to adjust. Recommended installing a smart valve quoted at $425. I declined to proceed with the work at that time. This was mid December 2011. Now 5 months later, May 2012, we just had a hot, steamy day - I turned the AC on, the house remained stifling hot. The inside (blower/fan) unit was working, but warm air coming through the vents, the outdoor compressor/fan unit was not going on at all. I looked on Angie's list and called a different company this time. The tech found there was no power to the outside unit. He checked the thermostat, then I followed the technician to the furnace/blower equipment, he removed the panel door, and immediately found the problem. He inquired if someone had been recently been doing work on my equipment. With a screwdriver, he connected three detached wires to a panel. The AC tecnician found wires to the control panel were left disconnected - he stated one of those wires is required for the outside AC unit to operate! Indeed, once he did that, the outside unit was working No one has done any work on my equipment since December, when the furnace was cleaned by All Temp Chicagoland. Apparently, when the cleaning performed on the furnace in December, some of the wires were not re-connected. I am out $150. I cannot give a good rating to a company that has caused me to unnecessarily pay $150 for work that was not properly completed.

Great. Office staff was friendly, efficient and flexible when I called to make the appointment, and Eddie, the technician who came to do the work was very knowledgeable and thorough. He also took the time to explain to me step by step what he was doing, and gave me trouble shooting and maintenance tips for future reference. My A/C is ready to go for the hot Chicago summer.

I needed to replace my old A/C. I had a 50+ yrear old furnace, and All Temp made an attractive proposal for a high efficiency unit. The technicians spent an entire day removing my old furnace and A/C and installing the new equipment. They stayed quite late to ensure that both the furnace and A/C functioned properly before leaving. They cleaned up the area well. Several days later, they returned to replace my water heater and install a chimney liner. Again, they insured that everything was working to my satisfaction, and cleaned up the area. Both installations were very professional. The people I dealt with at All Temp were all very nice and accomodating.

Pete showed up at the agreed time and went right to work. I've always been worried about having someone come out to look at our A/C unit because I was concerned that I would be told that several things were wrong with the unit and end up costing me a lot more money than I wanted to spend. I bought the Angie's List coupon which at the time was $49 for an inspection and up to 1 lb of refrigerant. Pete found our unit was locking up and not running at all and determined the old capacitor was shot. He brought the old one down to show me, went to his truck, got a new one, installed it, and we were good to go. It was so easy and painless. I thought the additional $198 for the new capacitor was very reasonably priced and was very very happy that Pete had the part in his truck. Wonderful job and will definitely be using All Temp again!!!!

The service was punctual, clean, and thorough and answered all my questions. The service man was pleasant and professional. He covered all the items that needed to be inspected and cleaned on my 3 year old furnace/ac. The cost came to $179.90 for the service call and $89.95 for labor! I convinced him that I was only going to pay $89.95 that was quoted to me when I made the appointment with All Temp, and that the service was recommended from Angie's List. He then called his office and agreed to charge me $89.95 and include a discount of 15% because of Angie's list. Total came to $76.45. I'm hesitant to use this company again.

The technician (Eddie) came out on time and was very professional and courteous. He cleaned my outside A/C unit and checked the coolant levels. Everything was in working order. I used the Angie's Big Deal and couldn't be happier about the service. I will definitely be using All Temp again.

I had used two different companies in the past and decided to try All Temp this time because of their great reviews and pricing. The technician was on time and called ahead to let me know he was on his way. He was professional, courteous and efficient. It was great service and I would definitely call them again.

I bought a Big Deal through Angie's List. The company communications were fast and professional-very organized and efficient. And the service person went above and beyond the call of duty-he had to carry a huge ladder up 3 flights of stairs to get to my AC unit on the roof of my condo building-no complaining or anything. He was great. I will definitely use this company again!!!

They have been really good and very informative. The guys work from the moment they get here until the time they leave and they clean up after themselves. They educate me on what they are doing, what to expect, and are very open when it comes to informing me about what's going on. I would recommend them.

Called in the morning to get our system fixed and someone was out to me by 1:00. Miguel (the tech) was wonderful! Found the problem, ordered the part and was back to replace it within an hour. These guys are great! The only reason I rated them a 'B' for Price is I thought the bill was rather high, but then again, I don't know how much it should have cost. I would definitely use them again and ask for Miguel as well!

I orignally purchased the tank on 2/08/2008 for a total price of $759.00. The tank went bad on 4/15/12. The All-temp rep gave me a verbal quote over the phone of $2,100 to install a replacement tank. When I advised him the tank was still under warrenty, he adjusted the price down to $637.00 which was for labor only. (the warranty covered parts only--not labor). It seemed odd to me that a) the exact same make & model tank that cost $759 in 2008 now cost $2,1000. b)labor charge to install the new tank would be so high given the total cost of the orginal job was $759 parts & labor. When I inquired, he attributed to rise in gasoline prices. Two technicians came and installed a new tank in two hours which woud make the labor cost $160 per man hour. Settiing aside the price issue, All-Temp has been very responsive, courteous, professional and has done good work. Under different circustances, I would have done a little more research & investigation on price among different contractors.

Great service! Technician arrived at the scheduled time. He thoroughly inspected and cleaned our two air conditioning units. He also provided some good tips as far as air flow and keeping things clean. We will call these guys for future jobs when needed.

They were fine. I would definitely recommend them. I would absolutely use them again.

My old air conditioner compresser developed a leak in the compresser housing and lost most of the refridgerant. Since system was 20 years old, I decided to replace rather than repair. Furnace was the same age so rather than wait for a failure, I elected for a total system replacement. I called several HVAC companies for estimates and found that All Temp offered what I feel was the best quality system at a fair installed price. The salesman (Ed Giese) was very responsive in getting to us for the estimate, answering all of the questions we had and explaining the fetures of the products he was recommending. The installation team (Bryan and Jamie) were very professional and courteous, arriving slightly earlier than scheduled and completeing demolition of the old system and the installation of the new system in a timely manner, with virtually no inconvenience or disiruption to my day. They left the work area neat and clean, and explained the functions of the new system's thermostat clearly. They reinstalled my existing humidifyer and electronic air filter, and when they encountered a problem getting the EAC to function properly, installed a top quality paper filter and made arrangements to have a service technician more knowledgable in EAC operations come to my home to check out the problem. I will continue to use All Temp over the years to maintain my new HVAC system in top operating condition, and in the event problems do occurr down the road.

I called All Temp on Sunday night and reached their answering service. They took a message and said that someone would call me in the morning. I received a call on Monday morning around 7:30 and was told that a technician would be out between 10 AM and 2 PM. They called ahead to let me know I was their next service call and arrived around 1:50 PM. I explained the problem and mentioned that the problem went away when the filter was removed or the blower door was removed. It seemed to be related to airflow. The technician said he would take a look and let me know what he found. A short while later he returned to talk to me about purchasing a service plan for $320 from All Temp. I would no longer be considered an Angie's List customer he explained, but I would get priority service as an All Temp customer. I told him I was not interested at this time. He was concerned with the amount of water pooling in the bottom of the humidifier and thought a new pad ($30) would help. We discussed the number of cold air return vents in the house and he thought there might not be enough on the main level to supply the furnace with enough air and that was why it was cutting out. The furnace checked out ok, so air flow seemed to be the problem. They said they would clean the furnace to see if that helped. They showed me the fit of the filter pad in the humidifier and I agreed to let them install it. When he was trying to show me the fit of the new pad, he had difficulty removing the water distribution panel and at one point used something to pry one end out. I never had difficulty removing it, but did not think anything about it at the time. I left them to do their work and waited in the kitchen. Before they returned upstairs the furnace ran for 12 minutes without shutting off, so I thought cleaning had helped. They came upstairs did something at the thermostat and then started reviewing the paperwork with me. They said they were going to charge me for a cleaning instead of a service call because it would be less expensive. They also stated that they were concerned about water leaking from the humidifier and that I should upgrade to a powered humidifier ($700). After they left, I noticed the thermostat was set too low, so I turned up the temperature. The furnace ran for 4 minutes and then shut off. I went down to take a look and noticed water leaking from the humidifier. I noticed the cover was not on properly, closed it properly, and the leaking stopped. I also noticed that the humidifier water distribution tray was broken on one end. I removed the furnace filter and the furnace ran fine without shutting off. Put the filter back in and it shut off after 4 minutes. I noticed two dampers above the furnace. Both were in the "open" position. Checked them and one was loose, so it was closed even though it appeared to be open. Adjusted it and the furnace problem was fixed. They next day I called and spoke with the service manager about the water distribution tray. They ordered the part and sent someone out within a couple of days to replace the broken part. I thought they handled this very professionally. Unfortunately the technician left me with a poor impression of the company. He created more problems than he solved and never really fixed the problem that I had contacted All Temp for in the first place. The service manager did an excellent job of handling the water panel replacement when I reported the problem. Update: 4/20/2012 Shortly after submitting my original review, I received a call from a company Vice President who apologized for the poor service and refunded my entire bill (volunteered without me asking). He was sincerely apologetic and told me that the performance problem had been addressed. I concluded that I probably just had a rare bad experience with a good company. We have one bedroom that is colder than all of the other rooms in our house and All Temp came out to investigate and provided us with recommendations. I now have a more favorable view of the company and would consider working with them again in the future. I increased my initial ratings to reflect that view.

All Temp installed a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim ductless air conditioning unit in my high-rise condo. I found them through the manufacturers web site where they are listed as a diamond level certified installer. I called schedule an appointment for the next day. After talking to three different contractors All Temp was the lowest bid. The next week they came out and did a fantastic job installing the unit. I highly recommend this company.
