+ 5 moreDuring our interaction with Akrite it was affiliated with James Howard Construction (Lavelle and James are the contractors). We had a terrible experience. They tried to refinish a wood floor and nearly destroyed it (they had no experience but said they did), requiring us to have a professional come in and fix it. Mr. Howard signed a promissory note to repay us the $3000 for the floor, but never made good on his promise, never paid. Lavelle and James installed a balcony door and had to come back several times, and it still does not shut properly, that cost $600. We referred James and Lavelle to family and their work was equally poor. **Please note that Akrite is not a licensed contractor with the City of Chicago as of May 2011 as is implied on their profile.
