Description of Work: Adc Floors refinished our hardwood floors, a living room, hallway, and two bedrooms. |Daniel, the estimator, is excellent. He walked through the options for refinishing the floor, including stain colors, finish types, and approaches to dealing with damaged floor areas. He took measurements and provided an itemized estimate on the spot. |The first refinishing crew arrived on time, was professional, and got promptly to work. They set-up dust containment tarps, wired into the electric service and began refinishing. Once the sanding was complete, the foreman put down sample stains on the floor, allowing us to choose a stain sampled on our own floor. This crew returned the next day to finish repairing the damaged areas and applied the stain. They applied the first coat of finish later the same day. When they returned the following morning, they decided the first coat was not sufficiently dry for the coat to be applied. This was disappointing as the 3 day job would now be unfinished until the following Monday. I would have appreciated guidance on running, or not running, the heat or A/C overnight to reduce humidity and avoid this delay. Especially since it meant leaving the tarps up and all of their tools on the bathroom floor over the weekend... |A second, different crew came on Monday to finish the job, sans foreman. These guys seemed slightly unsure and timid to me, which was not confidence inspiring. Despite this, we experienced no issues specifically attributable to crew; they buffed and applied the second coat, and installed new matching door sills. |Issues: 1) To me the most significant was an area, roughly 2'x3', near the front entryway that did not finish correctly, drying whitish in spots instead of clear. Adc's foreman was very insistent on being allowed to rectify this, and offered to send a crew out to buff the second coat, then apply a third coat of competing product to remedy the issue. I agreed, but it was not until the crew arrived (2.5 hours early) on the agreed upon day that I came to understand the entire floor needed to be buffed and reapplied, not just the area in question. To their credit, both the foreman, and Daniel expressed their desire to correct the problem, but at that stage it wasn't an option for us since we had already started moving furniture into the house, and would be moving the rest the following day. Given that, as well as the location and size of the affected area, we opted not to do the third coat, going with a rug instead. 2) There were two spots where it appears someone carelessly rammed the end of the stain roller into the wall, denting it. And the number of marks on the wall above the baseboards was higher than we expected. 3) They also forgot to reattach the closet runners to the floors in both bedrooms. |
