Good. It took some back and forth to get the contract language the way I wanted it, but after that all went well. Alex is very responsive and professional. The masons did good work. They were not shy about replacing spalled common bricks. They grinded the old mortar to the depth as stated in contract. No shortcuts were taken. It was obvious these masons took pride in their work. Something that is getting rarer these days. I pointed out some smeared mortar on bricks and they cleaned it up right away. New bricks and mortar match the old well. They cleaned up after themselves. This is not a bargain handyman cash job. You see lots of shoddy tuckpointing in my neighborhood and it's sad. The fast cash guys don't grind the mortar down enough and the new mortar falls off after a few years. You'll pay more at AAA-1 but you get what you pay for. Masonry is an art and AAA-1 demonstrates that.

AAA-1 Masonry & Tuckpointing Inc did a good job. They were professional, fast and observed good communication. I thought it was kind of expensive but I guess I don't really know. I don't know, I guess the quality was good. Would probably use them again in the future.

I turned them down flat because their estimate was three times higher than another very highly rated one on Angie's List plus another one. So, AAA-1 never will I deal with them. Their estimate was just over $3000. The young man who was the estimator, he came, he was very nice. Days go by, a week goes by, more than a week goes by, and I said, "It's been on a week and I still don't have an estimate." Just a lady in the office, "Oh, we're so busy." I said, "It's fine." A week has gone by and I said, "I would really like that estimate." Then, the 19th of September and still don't have my estimate, "Oh it's coming." So, then I get the estimate and it's gone $3000. I don't ever want to see them again. When he came, he came on time. He was a nice kid and they were professional, but they didn't do the job.

It went well, everything worked out well. They were professional, and very fitted to the needs of the customer.

Exceptional work done! Truly, masters of their craft. Got the estimates along with a thorough review of the work. I was walked every step of the way and true to their word, work was completed on schedule and on budget. It's a true pleasure to come home and admire the newly finished work. If you want Masonry work done right, hire these folks.

I have not heard or received anything from the initial meeting. He was supposed to provide an estimate for the work that needed to be done. I never received one, never talked back to them, and they never called back. I wanted to hire them because they got really good reviews. I'm not happy about that at all.

For masonry we contacted AAA-1 Masonry & Tuckpointing Inc. They treated me very nice, very nice. He was a very nice guy. He sent it in the mail and it was very nice. It was probably a very good price. I have had several other people and that is just a part of it because it is cement and brick and that is 2 separate things. They were pretty good, I have seen less and I have seen more but he seemed to be knowledgeable about the job. He has done several of those before. It seems to be a pretty good price. He hasn't done the work yet, we are taking bids and that was one of the first people that I talked to. He was very good and I think his name was Allan, the guy that came out. He was very nice, I would recommend him, very nice. He was very responsive. I left a message and he called me right away. He was punctual, he came when he told me when he was coming. His professionalism was very nice, he was very professional. He knew his business. He walked around the house and told me what needs to be done and how all the things work and everything, very good. We are getting the last few bids and it is between this guy and one from another provider. Between those 2 we are getting it done in August.

Rob Reese has worked on our house in past years and has done a wonderful job. We paid him promptly and in full and there was no apparent discord of any kind, so we are mystified by recent events. He seems to be a true expert in his field, and we are sorry to be unable to get a bid from him now, as we trust his work. However, we do feel like others on Angies List should be aware to move on and get other bids if things don't move along promptly.

They do great work, they are the 3rd or 4th generation company. They understand working on historical buildings. They one of better of the companies in Chicago. They will work with you and tell what is immediate attention and what can wait. They work with your budget.

Crew arrived as scheduled. Worked quickly, cleaned up work site at the end of each day and restored everything to original prior to departure. Completed results were completely satisfactory. Couldn't be happier.

They are really good, although pricey. I have no complaints though.

I was really lucky to have called Robert. We had some difficult to find leaks in our basement and other guys couldn't locate them. Amazingly, he offered to come over on Thanksgiving morning, knowing how important it was to us. He gave me a thorough evaluation, including the best options for now, given the cold weather. Not once did he push excessive repairs and services. Many of the things he thought I could do myself. Just a great way to start Thanksgiving. My highest recommendation for an honest, expert experience. I'll use him every time.

The provider never responded to my request for an estimate.

They were very prompt in giving us an estimate, but their price was quite high. They were on Angie's List and seemed highly rated. They were quite professional. I think the concern I had was that they were looking at the tuckpointing, which was a fix. I also had a chimney expert come out to look at the problem and not only did he say he would take of the tuckpointing for less, but he also said that the cause of the problem is my chimney, or the liner lack thereof in the chimney. He said that's what needs to be addressed. He would fix that for me and also take care of the tuckpointing and it was about 80% less. If I just needed tuckpointing done and that was the cause of the problem, I think AAA-1 would be very honest and very respectable. I liked meeting with the guy and he explained a lot, but he wasn't getting to the actual problem that I had. I would definitely contact them for another quote.

Poorly. Failed to provide a proposal or respond to calls. Simply saying "too busy" would have been fine, but failing to show when you have agreed to quote is wasting my time.

I interviewed several tuckpointers for our condo building and cannot tell you how thrilled I am that we hired AAA-1. We have had water issues for many years and agreed that we needed more than just a water sealant applied to our very porous cinderblock. Dan came out in January but was not able to do any work until the weather was better. Because of the late start to summer (and no real spring) the work was delayed by several months. The delay was due to weather more than scheduling issues. They came out and tuckpointed the four sides of our five story building, starting on the roof and working down. They ground out and pointed every crack on all sides. On our parapet walls (surrounding our flat roof) we had aluminum coping caps that were rusted and were a major access point for water. They removed and replaced them with limestone which looks fantastic and has kept my apartment dry through the last four rains. (I used to get seepage down the walls with nearly every storm). After doing the masonry work, AAA came back two weeks later and treated the building with a chemical sealant. One reason the job price was so costly is that they used a product called Chem-Trete which has a 20 year warrranty. So far the window sills and other problem areas are all in great shape...very happy!!!

They did an absolutely fabulous job! Their pricing was very reasonable. The crew of 6 was very efficient, clean, worked well together and did everything they said they would. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again!

I called Angie's list to locate someone to repair the concrete bannister on my front steps. One of the places I was given was AAA1 Masonry. I called them and after I explained what I needed, I was told they could not help me. But I was given the phone number of KKK Masonry. I called them and talked to Ray. He was surprised AAA! had declined the job and also surprised that they had given me his name. But he said he would look into it and said he would see that the job was done. I called him twice more (after the 4th of July weekend) and when we made contact he told me he could not repair the damage and suggested a handyman. My daughter knew a handyman so I called him. He said he would schedule my job for this week. As yet (Tues) I am waiting for him.

It was excellent. They did interior brick work. They had a crew of about five people and they completed the work the same day. They were very professional, they came out very quickly. They were very courteous. They gave me an estimate that was accurate. The project manager came out on a couple occasions to check the work.

Had a lot of weather delays, but they continued to communicate with us. Dan was informative and honest throughout the process. They were expensive, but we felt good about their reputation and quality and were happy wtih it.
