We had water coming into our basement so we needed a Sewer company to come out asap and rod-out our sewer line. They were available, so we, unfortunately, hired them. The technician came-out and tried to rod it out. They couldn't get very far because they apparently ran into a collapsed pipe. They recommended installation of a rod-out station while they are down there fixing a collapsed pipe and could do the work the next day. Overnight, more water pooled in our basement damaging furniture, hardwood steps, etc.. The following morning, we decided to get a second opinion. We called the Scottish Plumbers. Their tech came-out said he needed to diagnose the problem himself so he stuck a camera into the sewer line, was able to get the camera out into the street and while doing that, he dislodged something that caused the water to flow. The basement water started to go down the drain along with septic tank water and the water pooling outside our basement door. We watched it happen and were relieved. Later that afternoon I called A-Pete and talked to Sandy. I explained what happened and asked for a refund for two reasons: 1) their company never performed the service that we hired them to do, but foolishly paid them anyway (our mistake) 2) another plumber did not run into a collapsed pipe or anything that prevented him from performing an evaluation so why did they? Sandy said she needed to speak to the owner and would get back to me on Saturday. We didn't receive a call on Saturday and didn't call them since we were too busy cleaning up our basement. I called Monday at 4:00 PM to speak to the owner. The admin said Sandy was not available. I did not know Sandy was the owner, so I asked the admin about that. She said Sandy may be referring to her husband, Tim, as the owner. I asked to speak to him, but he was not available. At 5:12 PM Tim called me. I explained the situation to him and he said there is no way another plumber could get a camera through if they couldn't. I said we were there and saw it happen. He basically was calling me a liar. Not a situation I expected at all. The conversation got very heated and I was surprised that an owner of a company could be that unprofessional. I asked for a refund. He said no, the best they would do is refund us $35 of the $175. I told him this was unacceptable given they didn't perform the work and made a mistake in their diagnosis. We went back and forth on that. Again, unprofessional responses each time. At one point he "asked" why we got someone else out there instead of calling them again. Huh? Why would we call the same company for a second opinion?? So I started to explain the reason for a second opinion and the call was disconnected or he hung-up on me. He didn't call back. My only recourse is to share this experience.
Description of Work: They were supposed to rod a sewer pipe, but told us they ran into a collapsed pipe and couldn't go any further so task was not performed

While in the end they did get it unfrozen and rodded out, it took the crew of 2 repairmen 3 extra trips back to the shop to keep getting items even though I outlined the extent of the issue on my first call. For instance, they had to go get waders (would have thought that was standard issue when dealing with a flooded back parking lot), had to go get blow torch to melt the ice (again, I was very clear on the fact the storm drain was frozen) and then the final trip was for the video camera to look at what was going on. I understand that the video equipment is quite expensive so may be the company just has one of those and they need to be shared but I found the excessive back and forth to get materials unnecessary.
Description of Work: The issue was a frozen drain in the condo parking lot so called company town freeze rod it out.

I went to another sewer company first. It was a $14,000 estimate. A-Pete came in at $6000.00 and worked extremely hard to finish the job. Not one complaint and they did some tough work. I'd use them again in heart beat. Good Guys.
Description of Work: They dug out my catch basin in the front of the house. They connect a sewer line from the crawl space under my house to the city main line.
