5 Star Concrete & Construction

I'm not satisfied with the results. He told me he had stamped concrete skills but the finished product doesn't look the way it should. The steps are not level, the finishing work was poor, and he refuses to redo them.

He requested photos of what needed to be done, then never responded back. Just a simple courtesy call would have been nice & professional.

Lopez concrete discovered an issue and helped me resolve it. Then they got the job done. Very professional.

Gibran and his team did excellent work. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of how it turned out. Very responsive.

Gibran was very knowledgeable, quick, responsive & overall a good busnessman. Direct, honest & fair prices. He gave us great advice on what kind of concrete we needed & even suggested a stamp. Gibran and his team were responsive, professional and did a fantastic job with multiple concrete projects at our property.

Of the six concrete contractors I contacted, 5 Star was the most responsive and provided the most reasonable bid. They communicated timing well, ended up scheduling the work sooner than expected, and quickly notified us when work needed to be delayed a day for weather. The work was done quickly and professionally. Everything was done in a day with no troubles. The wall seems sturdy and the patio and walkways look great.

The quote was not the cheapest but they were able to get the job completed earlier than other companies. We were promised cleanliness however the team brought no tarps to cover furniture near the work area. We had to cover everything ourselves. The new concrete in the basement went smoothly and looks good. The outside job to fill the crack turned into a big project. The team realized it couldn’t be patched and the old catch basin was installed incorrectly and would not support a new concrete ring to hold the cover. The team agreed to replace the catch basin for us and fix the concrete sidewalk. They were great about encountering a problem they were not expecting and agreeing to help us out when that was not the original plan. It works great however the new concrete sidewalk they poured is crumbling some at the edges and they left the yard a mess- small chunks of old sidewalk. The team seemed in a hurry to leave and didn’t clean as well as I would have liked.

One of the best experiences with a contractor we have had. They were very responsive, knew what they were talking about and were very reasonable in price. Always answered the phone and were always on time. They ripped out all our concrete around the entire house and back stairs (front and back of house), and then poured new concrete. Very quickly, all done in 2 days. Price was very reasonable, less than half of other quotes. Cleaned up well. Gibran was responsive and had good suggestions of how to get the work done well and quickly.

Initially things went well. The workers were very accommodating and made entry and exit of the house easy while the concrete was drying. However, there was some problems with the neighbor as she felt too much debris was left on her property. A couple of months later, I called because there were cracks in the concrete on the porch and at the side door. I was told that they would come out in a couple of weeks to make the repairs. That never happened. My wife then called and was told to call back in a couple of weeks to schedule a time for the foreman to come out. Despite the return call, which was never answered, no one ever came out. By that time it was too cold to make the repairs. Now 11 months later, we have to pay someone else to fix the shoddy work they did. My wife and I agree that we would not use them again and encourage others not to use them either.

Gibran and his team are very easy to work with. Gibran was very responsive and provided a quick estimate, even on a Saturday. We agreed the price and the work was quickly scheduled for the following week. My new patio has now been completed and I am very satisfied, both with our new patio and Gibran and his team. I would definitely use 5 Star Construction again for any future projects.

I had a really hard time finding someone willing to pour a front step for my house because it's such a small job. The prices were so exorbitant I was trying to figure out how to build a wood replacement myself. But then I found Gibran, who offered to do it for a fraction of what others were charging. His crew did a great job. It really looks beautiful with clean edges and a smooth finish, which was really important because I was selling the house.

Described work and asked them if they would do the work (within their listed services) and if they could come out and provide an estimate. No response at all - its been four days.

It went pretty well. They communicated well, there were just a few hiccups and a couple mistakes. All were fixed appropriately.

5 Star Concrete did an excellent job we wanted a stamped concrete patio and to replace all our old broken concrete, living in Chicago you have rats ours were living under the garage. I wanted concrete tight to all the property lines and Gilbran made it happen. No more rats and a beautiful patio. Gilbran helped us design the patio and all the levels of concrete to make sure it drains properly. The whole crew is a pleasure to work with, they are hard working and true craftsmen.They show up when they said they would called if they were delayed or could not work because of weather. They worked fast cleaned up the mess and even washed my garage it looks new. I will us them again next spring to replace my old and cracked garage floor.

Work was done well, but neighbors were disturbed by dust from saw cutting. Also, they sealed the concrete only upon a specific request. This should be done automatically.

Gilbran did a great job for me and his price was also the best price out of the 6 quotes I obtained. The concrete looks excellent, his crew did the work very quickly, and everything happened in the timeline he said it would. I would use him again and have recommended him to my friends. Definitely a top notch concrete person.

. I was very pleased with the work and the employees. I will say he called early because of a cancellation he had and showed up a week early, which threw me off my schedule but we worked it out and I am pleased. If you have and A/C unit and it is near where your new concrete is going please take his advise and move it. I just had a new unit installed and he stated he could work around it. They ended up lifting it up to work around it and I had to call had have it removed and disconnected for a day. ended up costing me an extra $500.00 but in the end result was worth it. I was very impressed with his A/C guy, he found a few issue's the other guy missed and fixed it. I would use them again. just make sure you are ready. Again he was a week early and I did not want to loose a spot do to rain .

5 Star Concrete exceeded our expectations. They did a fantastic job on our stamped concrete project including installation of a new vinyl fence. The price was the most competitive out of 3 quotes obtained. After visiting previous projects and speaking with clients, we signed the contract. Project was completed as promised. 5 Star Concrete removed/hauled previous brick fence, cracked concrete, and gravel rocks throughout the extended walkway/long alley side from the back to front of our property. 5 Star Concrete professionally installed new vinyl fence and poured stamped color concrete for walkway/long alley side including creating a section to pitch water away from the property’s foundation. 5 Star Concrete cleaned up, power washed vinyl fence/stamped color concrete once dried, and sealed all. We were very pleased with the courteous, professionalism, and responsiveness of Mr. Gilbran Banales and his team. The knowledge and great customer service provided is the reason for our A+ rating. We are reminded of the quality of work from the numerous compliments received from neighbors and friends. We highly recommend 5 Star to everyone who requires professional concrete work.

As usual without a doubt 5 star!!! Came out, 5 guys, including Gibran, knocked it out in one day. There's no question about his work ethic. Seems to have hired a few more knowledgeable gentleman. Solid, clean work. Came out next day, and power washed. If only he could be a bit more caring about plants and flowers!!! All in all, I recommend 5 star to everyone.
