4 Seasons Painting & Landscaping is a small Chicago-based business run and owned by Pam Yokoyama who provides painting, drywall repair, landscape design and installation, container garden plantings and garden maintenance services. She personally works on each project to ensure that every detail is handled professionally and thoroughly, while also meeting with clients regularly until project completion. Customer satisfaction is her top priority.
Pam took a look at the space and emailed her plan about a week later. It was BEAUTIFUL and included varieties and pictures of each plant and scrub she suggested. She hand-picks the shrubs and plants from high quality nurseries. She also includes instruction on care of the plants. The space has old evergreens that Pam arranged to have removed prior to planting. Following the removal of the evergreens Pam wanted to see how the ground looked and wanted it to "set" for a few days. We were also having tuckpointing and power-washing so Pam assured me that the planting should wait until after this work was done. Having said all of the above, we decided to wait until spring to revisit the work for a number of reasons ( we may be selling the building). Pam was understanding of our situation. I highly recommend Pam and will definately check back with her in the spring. Additionally I will also consider using her services for painting in the winter. Pam from 4 Seasons is professional, skilled, and understanding of each of her clients individual needs. I highly recommend the company.
Description of Work: Pam from 4 Seasons provided me with a plan to redo the front yard landscaping @ my Mother's 3 flat. She took into consideration so much more than just what to plant in the space. There is a small space within the front yard that gets more sun than the rest of the width of the front yard. Pam took into consideration what to plant in just this sunny space. She chose beautiful plants for the shadier areas of the space. She also came up with a plan to improve the look of the front yard utilizing some existing plants. I had shared concern to other providers regarding the height of the plants as a security concern as there are basement windows behind where the new landscaping would go. Pam LISTENED and assured me that the height of the new landscape took into consideration my security concerns. I don't live at the property where the work was to be done and Pam also considered that in her plan. According to Pam the plan was simple but would look good and be easy to take care of.

We contracted with 4 Seasons last year and happily hired them again this year to further improve and enhance our front yard. It was yet another terrific experience. After experiencing Pam's thoughtful creativity and great work last year, I'm sure I would have been delighted with anything she came up with, no questions asked, but as usual, prior to the job, she came over and walked me through our space, discussing her ideas and various exciting options for seamlessly continuing the design initiated last season. The work was performed a few days later, in one day, and the results are gorgeous, including several new and unusually beautiful, sizable shrubs (witch hazel, variagated dogwood, hydrangea) and oodles of new plants (among other things, the toad lilies are stunning!). 4 Seasons is a special company, offering genuinely personalized service and exceptional work and care. The value for the money cannot be beat, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

We used Four Seasons Landscaping to completely overhaul our homes landscaping and couldn't be happier with our experience. I called and scheduled an estimate and Pam (the owner) showed up on time and quickly took note of my concerns and tossed around a few ideas of what would work for our landscaping. After a few days she sent me a complete proposal along with a completion time and a listing of all the plants that were going to be used. After we agreed on a price they were able to start the work within a week and actually completed it while we were out of town. Pam even took the time to water our landscaping every day for us until we returned and when we got back everything was clean and the landscaping looked great. One of the plants that was transplanted didn't come back after a few weeks of watering but Pam quickly replaced the plant with a new one without any hassle. Everything looks great and we have received many compliments on our new landscaping including the use of unique plants that really make our landscaping stand out from most cookie cutter designs. I would very much recommend Four Seasons to others and plan on using their monthly maintenance service as well.

Pam was one of the two landscaping companies who cared enough to call back after my initial round of phone calls (I had called seven Angie's List companies total ...). Pam came out promptly and listened carefully to what I wanted. Among other things she asked about color preferences, budget, plant preferences etc. All these things were incorporated in the design and the proposal. Communication had been very good throughout the entire process. Once we agreed on the final design, we picked a week for the install. Pam came with her crew and they did the work within 3 days. We are very pleased with the result and used her in fall to do a minor install for one of our rental buildings as well as fall clean up and pruning. This year, all the plants are coming back beautifully. We could not be happier with the work Four Seasons did. They really transformed our back yard!

Pam came out very promptly to view our mess of a yard and give me an estimate and ideas. Somehow with the right color mulch, pruning shears and her vision she transformed our yard from a weed filled mess to something the neighbors have complimented us on. (She even made Otis the WAY overgrown and neglected rose of sharon look pretty)

4 Seasons Landscape failed to provide an estimate and never followed up on the project.
Description of Work: 4 Seasons Landscape came out on April 23 to look over our landscaping project. She was going to send out a fencing person and then was supposed to provide us with an estimate. I saw the fencing person when he was out, but never heard from 4 Seasons Landscape again.

Response from 4 Seasons Painting and Landscaping Company
I don't do fencing so I don't know why she thinks she talked to me I believe she has the wrong company. It's rating like her that frustrate the hell out of me when I never did any work for her regarding a project but she has the nerve to give me a bad rating.

We live in an old house in Chicago. Our house was built in 1907. We had not had the interior of "this old house" painted in 20 years. So, in March 2010, we started looking for a painting service. A friend referred us to 4 Seasons. We got a quote from them and two other painting services. When Pam Yokoyama, the owner of 4 Seasons, came to give us an estimate, I liked her right away. What I liked in particular, was Pam's attention to detail, her suggestions about alternative colors, and she was both personable and professional. It also helped that she was in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. It took only one day for Pam to give us a detailed estimate. Pam's estimate for this painting job came in $250 higher than the other bidders. We then decided to have our floors sanded and to remodel our bathroom. In these two situations, 4 Season bid was lower the other bidders. Without hesitation, we gave all three bids to 4 seasons, and we have had no regrets. We would use them again, and have no hesitation referring them to others. Pam's team was very respectful of who we were, they worked hard and got the job done in a very reasonable time period. A couple of other notable points. Pam's team started the job one week after we accepted their bid, nothing was broken, they protected our furniture, and they cleaned up all the dust and dirt every night so we could still manage to live in our home. If there was a mistake, it was fixed with no hassles. One more important comment. Trust Pam. She really knows her colors, paints and she has great ideas. So now, all the old cracks are gone and " this old house "looks like new . Wish we could do the same for our old bodies with paint and Spackle!

My initial call was answered promptly and a meeting set up for the following day. Pam and Heather visited our (problematic, shady) small front yard; based upon my stated ideas/needs/desires, Pam offered a variety of wonderfully creative design options which spoke to my taste, as well as lots of terrific advice for overall plant choices/care/maintenance in such a challenging area. A (very reasonably priced) proposal was received (and accepted) promptly thereafter. The work commenced (with a very smart, careful, professional crew) a couple of weeks thereafter (once the threat of frost was behind us), and was done in one day. They did a beautiful job; the difference is night and day. Afterward, I was sent before and after photos; on the after photos, each new plant was labeled (a really helpful tool). From the get-go, I just felt I was in the right hands, and I was proven right. Pam and her entire crew really care, really listen, are exceptionally knowledgeable/skilled and are an absolute pleasure to work with. Every minute of this project was an effortless joy -- I can't recommend 4 Seasons highly enough.
Description of Work: Landscaping of front yard, including removal of dead bushes/small dead trees, trimming of shrubs, design and installation of new beds, boosting of soil, installation of new plants, mulching. In addition, a small border fence was installed alongside the property to protect previously installed pachysandra.

They have a fabulous presence. They were very responsive and very nice. One job was really too small for them and for the other one I found a painter recommended by a friend. I have nothing bad to say about 4 Seasons Painting. I probably would have hired them if I hadn?t found the other guy.

They did a fine job. They have good environmental practices and they don?t use chemical fertilizers. It is a small company and they have one-on-one communication. They show good attention to details and give good advices on how to add additional planting and change things around our garden. I would hire them again in future if need be.

The woman who came out was very nice and quick. She setup something online for me but it was not according to my liking and it was expensive. She came up with a design but I never contacted her back, as it did not suit my ideas.

This was a very personal type of design. I wanted a yard with small special areas pleasant to sit in, with different kinds of aspects and that would attract birds. They kept that in mind throughout. They did good research into the best plantings for the birds and also soil issues (I live in an area with a lot of clay). The contractor came with a designer and interviewed me to determine my vision, discuss ideas and future upkeep resources. They examined the soil and environs. They showed me examples from their portfolio of different design themes to illustrate overall effects that could be created. I received a proposal in a timely manner that included bed diagrams and tree and planting lists etc. They took "before" pictures. They took me to their supplier and showed me the types of trees and shrubs they were suggesting and other possibilities, keeping issues of hardiness, conditions, good mix of annuals/perennials, and cost in mind. We went through a review round and finalized the design and major planting lists, and finishing touches (mounding, pavings etc.). This process was timely and very much based on my convenience. They were good at offering alternatives that were less costly but still fit the vision. After the contract, we determined a schedule based on weather and the work started. I was at work during most days but every evening we talked and discussed issues of the day. The experience was very personal - the designer was present throughout. They did not use unskilled laborers. When it was done I received pictures with little flags/numbers that corresponded to a finalized list of plantings and also all the information on those plantings (sunlight, fertilizer needs, etc.). They followed up regularly all summer (in particular they held my hand through the 17-year cicada experience - ugh!) and made adjustments if necessary as growth occurred (for example, moving shrubs/flowers as needed to maintain the best gradient of heights etc.). It was all lovely.
Description of Work: I had moved into a suburban home with a fairly large back yard that was just grass with a small unkempt flower bed. I found Four Seasons (through an acquaintance) and requested an artistic picturesque kind of yard that attracted birds to be planted in the Spring. In the process described below they completely landscaped the yard: research, proposal with drawings, landscaping, planting, follow-up during the summer etc.
Pam was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. She helped me pick out perfect paint colors for all my rooms. She emailed me the quote within 2 hours of leaving my house. There's been times when I haven't been able to get in touch with contractors that I was working with, so this was a plus for me. Her prices were competitive and the price on the contract we signed never changed even though there were some unforeseen complications. There was some stubborn wallpaper that wouldn't come down, but Pam didn't charge extra for the materials she had to buy to get it off. She always kept me informed of what was going on and her crew did such an amazing job. My house looks incredible.
Description of Work: I have a loft and I had cracks so I needed drywall and painting. 4 Seasons did a phenomenal job on our place. The project involved patching holes in the wall and ceiling from a ceiling fan installation and repainting the whole room plus the rest of the loft. Pamela, the owner, took the time to explain the process by giving me a step by step description of what to expect. She supervised the work and made sure the room was returned to its proper order after the job. I would highly recommend them for any drywall and painting project.
