Gilkey Window Company Inc

We used Gilkey to replace all of the thirteen old windows on our small ranch-style house. Due to cost, we got half of the windows three years ago, and the remainder this past May. We were very pleased with Gilkey, both times, from when the salesman came to the house for the initial order and measurements through the final installation. The installers definitely knew what they were doing; they were skilled, efficient, and clean. The company uses its own installers, no subcontractors. The windows are all top quality and match perfectly, but they are rather pricey. The only thing that displeased us was that both of the installers were smoking (we are non-smokers) while they worked, and some of their smoke did drift into the house.

We are going to use them again. We like everything about them. They have good prices. The installation went well.

Their estimate was for $5000. I got them through the word of mouth. My friend referred them to me. I have decided to not go ahead with the work because of the timing and the other household expenditures. Their price was outstanding. They were professional. Their explanation of the benefits and the quality of their materials were all outstanding. They were very thorough and accepted to what I was requesting which was good. I was very satisfied and would call them again. I was very pleased.

Everything went as expected with no surprises. The salesman was not pushy or did not try to upsell us in any way. Additionally, there is a Gilkey showroom nearby and we were able to see the windows with the different color options. That was a big plus. The price we were quoted was in the ballpark with other companies we solicited. I also like the fact that they build their own windows. After ordering, the windows arrived in about 5 weeks, as predicted by the salesman. The workmen (4 of them) were very friendly, professional, and quick. They replaced the windows in about a half day (all but one were on the first floor) and they cleaned up well after themselves. The windows immediately paid for themselves. True, I had very old leaky windows before, but after replacing them, my gas bill went down almost 50% (some of it had to do with lower gas prices I think) and I can now sit by the window comfortably in the winter time. I don't know if Gilkey is any better than the rest, but I am very happy with their product and service so far.

My assessment of their product is very good, I wanted to buy it. I'm a lawyer, and the guy that came out was loony toons. If there was a dispute, you would go to arbitration or court, they would let you know at that time. I never seen anything like that. I explained in a friendly manner to the sales person that I had issues with the contract because they said they had a big warranty and I thought they had a good product. He started giving me a hard sale right then. He was going to report me to his sales manager, and they were going to take the offer away. That was just, "whoa, is this what it is going to be like after you get my money?!" They were trying to bully me over the phone. I really like their product. It looks like each company in each different state has a different manufacturer. Some kind of "three card Monty" about who I would be dealing with and who the warranty was coming from. I am a bright guy and it didn't make sense to me. I recollect an agreement, and I question how enforceable that even may be about the dispute, but I am highly confident that it was not done by a lawyer because a lawyer can make it one-sided in a professional manner. It seems like some idiot took an existing contract and fixed it up. I really wanted to buy from them because I wanted the product. Their responsiveness was pretty good; they were very professional at that level. I suspect they do a good job of putting up windows, but in terms of the sales process, I give them an "F" for professionalism.

They had the best combination of quality and price so I chose them. It was just very professional and most importantly a very honest presentation. They were the people with the most knowledge of the codes and different requirements in the area.

I love the Gilkey windows!!!! They are definitly worth the $'s. Also would like to note that the workers are very professional and definitly go the extra yard. My husband and I did a lot of homework before getting the Gilkey windows and am glad we did! They are great looking and our heating bills show the difference.

The salesman was clear and informative, providing us with a range of options within our price range. Once we chose to sign with the company, another person came to perform measurements and ensure the final product would match our expectations. On the day of installation, the employees arrived on time and stayed late - working even as a terrible rainstorm came through! At all points, the employees of Gilkey were professional and competent, going above and beyond our expectations.

The crew did a thorough job. They did the right work for the situation. It was really fantastic. Their windows and doors are very well made.

They had to come back because one of the boards he put in was split. The bay window was very expensive because it was trimmed in oak. I made him come back to replace it when I noticed it. The windows were nice but I was very unhappy with the lackadaisical service. An experienced carpenter would have seen it and replaced it before installing it. They were rather expensive but they are nice windows. The company did make good on it.

The windows were manufatured correctly, and installed correctly, with only two defects. Four large windows were delivered with the wrong decorative built in grille. These were installed with the other windows. When new windows were made, these were uninstalled and the correct windows put in their place. This was done on the company's own initiative and at considerable expense to the company, it was done professionally, and with courtesy and consideration. The windows are very high quality, when the temperature was -20F outside, the window was warm to touch inside. The low-emission coating is hard to see in appearance, but it reflects out solar heat in the summer, lessening the load on our air conditioner. Two years later the windows all operate perfectly. Great products, excellent service, and the best warrantee work I have ever experienced.

They were very good and I had no problem with them and have no complaints. The quality of their work was very good. The guys were very professional, did what they were doing because it didn't take them long to do the job and the job was done well. I would use them in future if needed.

We had called their satellite office for the project. We had some issues with them. They were very lazy. They would take off early. They had to come back because they messed up a few things. There was a crack in one of the windows and a patio door was not done correctly. We had someone come out again and they said that they didn't frame it right. We were not exactly satisfied with them. They were not very nice about it. The workers were not friendly and they were a bit sloppy. They were very unprofessional. They would take off very early in the day because they had to drive all the way back and they didn't want to run into traffic. They wanted to be with their family, but for us they were hired to do the job. So it took an extra day to complete the job. The price was okay. The product was good, but the workmanship wasn't there. They were unresponsive. It took them six months to complete the project. We had to go through the manager and a lot of red tape to get it done. They promised us that they would be there 24/7 for us and if we had any problems, we could call them. The sales person that came and sold the windows disappeared off the face of the earth when we faced the problems. We would not use them again.

I have used them in the past and continue to use because they stand by their product.

A Gilkey representative took measurements, answered lots of questions and gave me a quote to replace five windows. It was very high. I don't doubt that they make great windows, but it didn't fit in my budget. Plus, I never heard from them after the estimate.

I do not remember what we paid, but we are so satisfied with these windows we are going to have them put additional windows in this summer. They might be a little pricey, but they are worth it. We checked the windows this morning and they are air tight. The installers worked quickly and did a nice clean up job.

The salesperson was very knowledgeable about the product and very subtle about the pressure. He gave us a quote right then and there. We did not have to wait for a quote to be sent in the mail to us. This company was head and shoulders the one we felt we should go with, and we look forward to working with them!

They were professional, punctual and the finish is quality.

I've used them before, so I knew the window quality was good. The workers were prompt, performed all of the work in one day and cleaned up pretty well afterwards. My salesman called to say he'd come over to check their work after installation, but I haven't heard from him since.

The service went well; however, the men who showed up to install the windows asked to use my phone; they made a long distance call and I had to tell them to get off the phone. I had a rip in a screen they came to my home and fixed the screen because of a guarantee they offer for the life of the windows. Their price was below average at that time, which was a couple of years ago.

Overall, we are happy with the windows. We had some miscommunication with the sales rep in regards to the window capping color. We never knew there were color options so after the installers came and replaced the windows, we ended up getting white colored caps instead of tan which closely matches to our exterior vinyl. They were attentive to our frusteration and came back to replace all the white caps with tan. I wanted to add new shutters to the 6 windows and was hoping they could do me the favor to install them. They did, but asked $100 to do so. I obliged but wasn't happy to pay $100 especially since they're already working around the windows. Also, we noticed the installers were a bit sloppy in nailing in the caps and applying mortar to the glass blocks. We had to call them back because we noticed some of the caps were coming loose and mortar was cracking.

Price was good but they had to return 3 times for minor quality issue i.e. caulk etc...
