After a sewage overflow they tore up the bottom two feet of the walls and the flooring. They also repaired a section of old clay piping in the yard.
Description of Work: After a sewage overflow I was pressured into a mediation and then pressured into an attempt at mold remediation that was not as drastic as made out to be. I know this from have three contractors look at the work. Roots had grown into the sewage pipe, which they dug up and replaced, but did not go the street and did not put a camera in to see if there were more roots. They cut down a section of the neighbors fence and claimed they had permission. The neighbors are renters. And despite promising to do so, did not help put the fence back together. Do not use. They are predatory and their representatives do a good job of conveying "trustworthiness" when they aren't interested in helping, it's actually sales tactics to scare you into thinking mediation is urgent and necessary

We got first a person coming July 3rd evening -- could not fix the faucet. A plumber came (from Danville) July 4th and fixed the faucet. He could not repair the old one, so he waited until I could buy a new one. Overall, extremely professional. It was a good surprise to get good service on July 4th at a decent price.

It went great! They dug up as little of the yard has possible. An they replaced the dirt evenly. We seeded it and you can hardly tell 6 months later where it was dug. No problems with drainage either!

Everything was perfect except they failed to inform me (or I neglected to hear) that I needed to contact an electrical contractor afterwards to hook up the new sump pump - which led to a basement flooding situation. This company, however, was first rate overall.

Had a sewer backup and rented a 100 foot long main line auger. The auger went out basically 100 feet and found a few minor roots, but the backup persisted, and I knew that I needed something longer. So, I called various companies and these guys had schedule availability, and they assured me that they had an auger that could go more than 100 feet. I've had this done before, and it has been around $200. The desk person said that they would call me again when they were and quot;on the wayand quot;. On the call back, I again verified that they had an auger that was more than 100 feet. I was assured that they did have. Well, they get there, and they don't have an auger that is more than 100 feet. BUT, they have the ability to and quot;jetand quot; the line out past 100 feet, and and quot;you get a free video of the line to make sure it is clean afterwardsand quot;.... All for a mere $419. I didn't care about the video, but I needed the sewer fixed. So, rather than continue to go through the hassle of finding another company, etc etc... I told them to go ahead and do it. So, they jetted the line. The backup drained away, and the video was scheduled for the next morning. Next morning arrives. The video guy comes, and does a good job with the video work. He gets down the line about 90 feet or so and finds that the sewer line had broken and was mostly blocked. It was going to have to be dug up and replaced. Upon using his nifty finder tool, he determined that it was right on the edge of the street. He said this was going to complicate repair as they'd have to dig up a bit of the street. Long story short, I ended up getting a quote to fix that little section for about $7,000 and change. The guy was friendly and professional. And, in retrospect, it was a great thing to have gotten the video. Points to them for that. :) I shopped around and found a company that said they thought they could fix the problem without getting under the street for about $1,500, and if they had to go under the street it would be $3,000. And, the quote included replacing the broken section as well as the remaining and quot;olderand quot; pipe back about 10 feet to connect with newer, which greatly reduced the odds of future problems.
Description of Work: Jetted drain line, took video of line, gave quote on partial line repair.

It took awhile to get it done as far as Roto Rooter kept postponing our installation due to emergency things kept coming up for them that they had to get to first. But our basement was dry and it wasn't suppose to rain anytime soon so that was ok. But I would have been upset if our basement kept flooding b/c we did not have the new pump put in yet. The guy did a great job and it only took him a few hours to install everything. It was a bit pricey but RR had the best price out of 2 different ones we got quoted (other was Mike's Plumbing). We also had a shower issue (leaking into our basement, our brand new shower at that) and he said he could fix that too and wish we would have told him and he could have done it that same night but it was getting late. When my husband originally called RR for both issues, they said they were sending a drain specialist for our sump pump and would have to send a plumber for the shower. But come to find out the guy that came was both and so we could have saved some money. So the RR staff were not correct. The guy ended up coming back and fixing our shower in a matter of minutes (the shower head had come lose from the piping in the wall and that was why it was leaking). But overall, I was very pleased with RR. Specifically, Jared who was our plumber who did all the work.
Description of Work: Put in a new sump pump with city water back up system, also new piping for pump as well. We had been having weird flooding in our basement which had never really flooded before. We had just remodeled it so we were pretty upset when our carpet was wet several different times. This was after torrential rains/downpours. So we had Roto Rooter come out and figure out what was going on. We were hoping it wasn't our foundation. They think (hopefully the new pump solved the problem) that the issue was too much rain too fast and it was collecting at a high point in our basement and not coming out of the pump area.

The initial call was because my sewer line wasn't draining well. They responded very quickly and very professionally. They cleaned out the line and everything was working better. I had them come out and inspect the sewer line with a camera (for free). I saw a portion of the sewer line was very broken. This was on a Friday. I scheduled to have it replaced and they came out on Monday. The next crew was also very professional. They had taken care of permits and licenses from the city. and dug up the pipe while minimizing the damage to my yard. They replaced what looked like an old broken clay portion of the sewer line. Within hours, they had filled the dirt back into the hole. Everything is working very well right now.

Unless you are made of money, I would not use Roto-rooter for sewer line replacement
Description of Work: We could hear gurgling in the sink and thought we had a problem. We called Roto-rooter and they came out to inspect the system at the agreed upon time. They removed the stool to try and clean out the drain but could not get through the line (too many twist and turns?) They said they could be back "tomorrow or the next day" to dig up outside and put in a cleanout. We waited until 2PM the next day with no call. We called them and the receptionist said "they didn't call you?" They weren't going to make it that day and did not call us. They did show up the next day (Friday) and dug down to the sewer line and broke a hole in the clay tile so they could clean it out. They could not get through it with the auger and had to call the water jet guy to get it cleaned out. When they left, the hole in the sewer pipe was left open and it stunk very bad on that side of the house. We had to call them back on Saturday to cover the hole to stop the smell - they acted like it was a surprise that it would smell. They came back on Wednesday to put in a cleanout. By this time we had gotten a couple of estimates to replace the line. Roto-rooter charged us $1200 for the work they had done so far and wanted an additional $5300 to replace the line all the way to the city sewer. We had it done by a local excavation company HUNT EXCAVATION for $2200. HUNT EXCAVATION also used 6" pipe which is what size the clay tile was instead of the 4" that roto-rooter quoted as using. I'm sure Roto-rooter could have gotten us hooked up to the city sewer but we would have paid almost 3 times as much to do it.

My boyfriend is a construction worker he does most work for house. The cleaning the sewers is one thing he could not do. So we used Roto-Rooter Group They said they completed the service But they didn't! They said after putting in camera now are drain pipe that we will need to replace the piping said it was cracked and they're going to charge us $2000. We called to get the second opinion. And they didn't even clean the sewers out. I had to pay another company to do the work. And when I contact Roto- Rooter they said I could sew them in court But I wouldn't get anything. I would not recommend them at all.

We had a clog somewhere in the line between our house and the tie-in at the street. Things were getting backed up and coming into our basement sink. I called Schoonover and they took my info and said a technician would call me back. I NEVER got a call back at all. After around 3 hours of waiting ( I would have waited longer if tSchoonover would have called and gave me an approximate time they'd be coming by or an acknowledgment that they got my info) I gave up and called Roto-Rooter. They guy who answered the phone said his guy was out on a job but would call me back. LESS than 10 minutes later I got a call from Blaine. He was funny when I called. Teased me and asked what I did to mess up my plumbing! He made me chuckle! I appreciate a sense of humor! He said he was on a job in Rantoul and knew I was in a hurry since it was my Dad's 50th birthday party that night. He said he's going to try and get here as fast as he could. Boy, he did!! He even called me when he was leaving Rantoul to let me know that he was on his way. I appreciated that. He showed up, got right to work. He blasted out some tree roots. He was careful to use low pressure then followed up by high pressure. He wanted to be sure that none of the water backed up and came into the house. He blasted things out and at no extra charge, he put the camera down the line and told us right where the tree roots are causing the most blockages. He went even further to tell us how to help keep the tree roots from growing in the spring, which could cause more blockages. I'm sure he could have made more money by not telling us that, but I really appreciate that. I expected the price to be much more expensive. A couple years ago we had a guy come and snake the same line (no high pressure blasting) and it was $175. We had a $25 off magnet and the total was $219. The great job that he did I'm sure will last a long time. It was worth every penny. It's nice to have prompt service by a very polite guy with a sense of humor. Blaine's personality and punctuality is much appreciated. Next time we need plumbing/draining services we will be calling Blaine at Roto-Rooter. Thanks again Blaine!
Description of Work: We had our drain hydro-blasted from our clean out in our driveway to the street. He also put a camera in the line to determine where the tree roots were.
