Mattex Heating, Cooling and Plumbing

He was really good at what he did. I was fairly amazed at how many different types of things he could handle. I was especially impressed at how he serviced the geo thermal unit. He had some measurement instruments that allowed him to know, rather than guess, what needed to be adjusted. The pricing was fair, but not cheap.

Things went very well. The techs were extremely considerate and professional. They ended up finding small issues with our ventalation that they fixed immediately. Jim was great as well and explained all of our financing options. We never felt pressured to do something we didn't want.

Called mid morning and they weren't sure they could get to us the same day, but they called mid afternoon and Ed was there promptly @ 3pm. Primary symptoms were with the blower and he quickly found the issue there and was able to get it working quickly. Under the same service call, he went on to check out the rest of the system to make sure it was working properly and found several other issues that were probably contributing causes to the blower failure. Those were fixed as well. He was very knowledgeable and ultimately got the system working the best it has in quite some time. Given the 20yr age of the system and nature of the failures, we will likely be looking at a new system soon, but at least there is a chance to plan a bit for that. Overall very satisfied

Although they had a few minor snafus when the day of service came, they were happy to work with me to resolve them and the service Tech was excellent, well mannered, and did a very professional job. I would use them again for sure!

I knew the unit failed. Called two places, Mattex responded. The work was scheduled in a few days, done quickly, on time, and well.

The job went well. The tech informed me when we spoke Sunday morning that their weekend/emergency/overtime fees were a little steep, and they were, but I appreciated the forewarning. When the tech arrived he put on booties to wear around the house (we've used Mattex a number of times and they always do). Tech got right to work and quickly discovered the problem. Our problem was the off-brand furnace and the costly replacement parts because of that. Sigh. I really like the professionalism of everyone that I've worked with at Mattex. Although they don't really want this advertised, in this instance, I was able to work with the company to spread out the cost of the repairs over a couple of my pay periods to ease that burden. 950 bucks is a chunk of money to shell out at one time for an emergency and unexpected expense. At least for my household. So I'm grateful to the company for their flexibility. I think we pay a nice fee for their services, but I also think they're the best and will continue to use Mattex for jobs of this nature for as long as I live in their service area.

I had a service call to put freon in my AC unit. They discovered a leak but both the original service person as well as the owner of the company could not pin point where the leak was coming from using the typical "sniffer" tool. I called another company who sent out a service technician who found the leak within 5 minutes using a "sniffer" tool and fixed the leak very quickly. The charge for the 2nd company was about $250.00 which included freon as well as fixing the leak. I am giving the this company a "D" for overall experience because they could not find the leak where the other company found the leak very quickly. I am sure they are a good company at somethings but not when it comes to finding leaking freon.

Responsive, professional service. I will call them again for any heating or air conditioning service we need.

On a Friday in August, my air conditioner stopped running just as we were going into a long weekend in one of the hottest times of year. I looked on Angies' List and found Mattex's good reviews, and called them to ask if there was any way I could get an appointment the same day. They sent someone in the afternoon, which was great. He diagnosed the problem with the air conditioner, fixed it then and there, and added an appointment for a fall furnace inspection for not much more money. Later in the fall, they came back to check out my furnace and showed up on time and did everything promptly and efficiently

When requested, they presented the options from which we chose.

The techs that installed the system did a very professional job. The install was neat and when they were done all trash and old pieces were taken away.

We are very pleased with the free estimate, the estimator and the technicians. The new equipment is much quieter than the equipment it replaced. We went with the X16i and the 95% furnace by Trane.

Very professional. Arrived promptly on the scheduled installation date. Cleaned up after the installation and demonstrated operation of the furnace and air conditioning. We were impressed with their service and would definitely use them again.

I called Mattex a few minutes after they opened and the woman on the phone was very nice and professional. She indicated that they could have a technician out by mid morning. When the technician arrived he was very friendly and even greeted my dog politely! He assessed the situation from the inside of the house and then went to work on the actual AC unit outside the house. About 45 minutes later he was back and explained that he found a broken fuse (even brought a new fuse to demonstrate what he found) and that it seemed that that was the only problem with the unit and that it appeared to be in good shape for its age (~30 years old!). He was able to do the billing on the spot and emailed me a receipt. This experience was very similar to the one I had with Mattex a year or two ago when our heat went out. They didn't try to sell us a new unit, they just made repairs to our existing system, which we really appreciated since we aren't planning to be in this house much longer and are reluctant to install a whole new heating/AC system.

I didn't shop around so I'm not sure about the pricing. They were very responsive. We might get a furnace from them.

I had made an agreement with Mattex to check out my furnace (last fall) and my A/C (in May), for a fixed inspection price. They came out--WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD, BOTH TIMES (!)--and did exactly what they said they would do. Each unit, respectively, was checked out thoroughly. What can I say? We have had reliable hot water heat and central air--in season. The guys were polite, professional, and honest, in my opinion. No monkey business. Straight shooters. I found them on Angie's List, and it was certainly worth the ten bucks or whatever it was I paid Miss Angie to find Mattex.

Excellent experience from the initial call for an estimate to the final testing of the system installed. Called for an estimate and within one day salesman was at our home and had an estimate e-mailed to me the same day. He was very knowledgeable, took the time to understand our needs and was very thorough identifing load calculations to match a system to our house. I recieved 5 bids on the proposed work and Mattex was very competitively priced, after a follow up meeting with them we decided to have the work performed. Within a few days their technicians were at our door with the salesman to go over the entire system and within a day it was up and running. The technicians were professional, knowledgeable and very courteous. I'm glad I took the time to look at Angies list as one aspect of our decision was the companys reputation and Mattex has once again found a very satisfied coustomer. I would highly recommend Mattex.

It was more expensive than it would have been had it broken during the week, but that's to be expected with just about all service companies. They had someone out right away, and got the job done. It's been working fine since.

My initial test of a company is to request a service call via their website. Mattex contacted me within 90 minutes of my online request - kudos! Service appt for A/C unit was setup on the next day at 10 am. 10 am arrived and no service man - typical experience; however serviceman did call and explain he was running a little behind and would be there within a 1/2 hour. I appreciate the call and he was here within a 1/2 hour. He was very professional, even put booties on over his shoes (much appreciated) when he came into the house. He diagnosed our problem and gave me an estimate. I already knew our unit was old (28 years old we figured out) and I didn't want to put $7-800 towards a repair. After asking what a new system would cost he gave me a ballpark figure, but said a salesman would need to come out and offered to call one for me. He called and within 20 minutes a salesman was here. (Not typical, but said he happened to be in the area getting gas). Serviceman continued to clean the a/c unit while we spoke with the salesman. After an hour of looking at all the options (and both men missing their lunch) we decided to replace the a/c unit and furnace (18 years old). Additionally they did not charge me for the $228 service call, cleaning and one part. Jokingly I said with it being Memorial Day weekend coming up and supposed to be hot, how about installing everything the next day (Friday). To my surprise he said he'd check. He called back within an hour and had everything scheduled to install the next day starting at 8 to 8:30 am. To my surprise, both service men and a delivery truck showed up at 8:05. Again, everyone was very professional. Job was finished around 4:30. This was my first experience with Mattex and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

The experience has been very positive. The technicians are professional, polite, and courteous. They are also competent in the work that they do.

Went very well. Charging the unit seems to have done the trick. The house now stays at a comfortable temperature and the unit runs as it should.

I originally called Mattex wanting to set up a time for a consult. I was surprised to make an appointment for the next day. Matt arrived right on time and completed a thorough walk through of my house and listened carefully to my questions, concerns, and ideas of how to solve our problem(s). We spent over an hour bouncing ideas back and forth and solidified a plan. Matt took a few days to work up an estimate and delivered it to me via email. I had a few questions about the estimate and he readily took my phone calls to discuss them. We came to an agreement on the services and price and I was told it would take about a week to ten days to get the parts and materials. I received a call 5 days later to set up a time when the guys could come out and get the work done. 2 days after that work began. I wanted to be home when the guys showed up to work to make sure we were all on the same page before things got started. But I have to be at work by 8 and normally Mattex get's their day started around 8 as well and try to be on the job by 8:30. I mentioned this to Matt and his crew actually showed up at my house the first day about ten minutes to 8 so I could get to work at a reasonable time. Matt consistently praised the quality of his crew when we chatted and I'd have to echo that praise. The guys that worked at our house were wonderfully professional, courteous, and hard working. When I returned home from work around 5 each day (the job took 2 full days) the guys walked me through what they'd accomplished and had done a nice job of cleaning up. While work was being done, the guys placed tarps on the ground where they walked regularly and all around their work area. Whenever they had to venture to other parts of the house they always wore booties. My wife and I appreciated that extra step of trying to keep our place clean. The work split our HVAC system into 2 zones. We have a ranch-style house with a finished basement, so we have a zone for upstairs and one for the basement. Once everything was buttoned up, we could tell an immediate difference in the basement. It was much warmer and more comfortable. Our biggest problem since we've moved into our home 2 years ago has been cooling it in the warm summer months, it will be interesting to see how the modifications perform when we kick the AC on, but our hopes are high. Even if things don't quite perform to our expectations, Matt assured me they would return and tinker with things until we were satisfied. Overall our experience with Mattex was very positive. I plan to call on their services in the future, should they be needed, without hesitation.

It was very well done. Mike was prompt and give us a good estimate and his associate Alex who performed the work was very good as well. We are very pleased with the work completed and will certainly not hesitate to contact Mattex again.
