 + -1 moreI was nervous calling for service on a holiday (and a Sunday), and never even got a call back from the first company I called. However, the Lanz dispatcher reached out very promptly. Although there was a 5-6 hour wait for service (again, a weekend and a holiday) he gave me his estimate of when the tech could come out, and called me back every few hours with an update. The tech was able to come by earlier than expected, and resolved the issue quickly. I was surprised and pleased when they charged the standard rate for a call - no extra holiday or weekend pricing. I will be using them for future service calls!
Description of Work: My heater stopped working on New Year's Eve, when the temperature was less than 20 degrees. The technician diagnosed the issue (condensation had built up in some sort of hose) and resolved it on the spot, and showed us how to fix it in the future.

 + 0 moreService was prompt and technicians were professional. All services no matter how minor were performed satisfactorily and techs were careful of the just cleaned carpet. We were consulted whenever there were questions or concerns. Highly recommend Lanz. Cost of service includes new furnace.
Description of Work: Repair of several items found on inspection prior to sale of property. Replaced capacitor and disconnect on A/C, ran new exhaust piping in one bathroom and repaired some damage on same in the other bathroom. Several leaks were fixed, shower heads replaced, and kitchen sprayer corrected. It was determined a new furnace is necessary, to be installed in the next week or two.

 + -1 moreLanz was the highest of 4 quotes from local plumbers when I was looking to have multiple plumbing jobs completed, including the purchase and installation of a new water heater. I went with Lanz on the water heater only because they were quick to respond and were able to install it 2 days after my request. The Lanz rep, Ken, was very professional. On installation day, he had a younger guy helping him who seemed to struggle quite a bit and scratched up some furniture while bringing the new water heater in. He also left a large pipe in the yard that I had to dispose of. I chose to go with the least expensive water heater and still paid $1439.21 with Lanz. Others were significantly lower in price, but definitely not as quick to respond or schedule.

They have a monthly arrangement so every month they have a service agreement and they charge you like $20 a month but I get priority scheduling and whenever there's an issue they come in and do a tune up of my heating and cooling system, come twice a year change filters and do all that maintenance stuff.

 + -1 moreI have used Lanz a few times for heater and AC and felt they did a good job and it was a decent value. Recently, my tenant had an issue with a leaky sink and I gave them permission to get it fixed through Lanz. I was later billed for $550 for a replaced faucet. I requested that lanz provide a detailed bill other than simply "faucet repair". They refused to give me a detailed invoice of price of parts and price for labor. Only thing they broke down was that the visit was $70 to just show up. I talked to 2 or 3 different people and they refused to give me the detailed invoice. To appease my concern they tried to get me to purchase an insurance plan. I know some faucets cost more than others, but the fact that they refused to give me a cost break down tells me the faucet was a cheaper one and that they charged me about $400 for labor on a job that takes about 1 hour. I'm not going to use them again for plumbing issues.

 + -1 moreTravis did an outstanding job. He quickly diagnosed the problem and had everything back up and running in short order. It turned out to be that a mouse had chewed through the wire that controls the condenser fan and had also damaged another wire. Travis repaired/replaced the wires in a short amount of time and had us back up and running quickly. I was especially impressed that they dispatched a technician so quickly on a Sunday and did not charge me an upcharge for a weekend visit. I have used Lanz for furnace work, air conditioning, water heater, and sump pump repairs. I continue to be impressed with their service, pricing, responsiveness, and quality of work. They are fair and honest. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: My air conditioning was not working. The furnace fan was running but I discovered the condenser fan was not. This was a Sunday afternoon. I called Lanz and they had a technician call me back within a few minutes. He was there about 30 minutes later, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it on the spot.

 + -1 moreMy central air went out several years ago and this fall my furnace finally went out as well so I looked around and found Lanz Heating & Cooling, which had very high reviews on several different sites. Kurtis came out and looked at my old system then sat down with me and went over several different options for a new system. Kurtis also went out of his way to help try to get all incentives that were available to help with the cost. Everyone I was in contact with was very friendly and helpful. I work nights and sleep during the day and Rodney and Jamie (the installation crew) were very accommodating. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend them.

 + 0 moreDale was our technician. He was friendly and professional. We called for emergency service. I had already cut away the ceiling, and turn the water off to the house. Dale found the pinhole and repaired quickly. The cost ultimately seems high compared to if I had just done the work myself, but it was worth having a professional do the job right--also, my two young children and family had just got home. It would have taken me probably hours to deal with the repair. Instead, Dale was done in 15-20 minutes. Overall, I was very pleased with the service, and would use Lanz again.

 + -1 moreWe bought a brand new construction home about 10 yrs ago, which had the heating/cooling system installed by Lanz. A year, or two, after taking ownership, we were contacted by Lanz to inform us that the system they installed was inadequate and we (foolishly) listened to them and installed a brand new system, which was supposed to have a life expectancy of about 15 yrs. Now it's halfway through the life expectancy of a new system that we installed to be proactive and now it's non-functional. Fool me once... Needless to say we will not be using Lanz ever again. And in talking with my neighbors that all had Lanz install or replace heating/cooling units, they feel the same way. This is a company that has built their business on shoddy work and substandard equipment. People need to wake up in East-Central Illinois and stay away from this company!
Description of Work: Lanz Heating & Cooling came out to give us a diagnosis of the problem with our cooling system. We purchased the home brand new about 10 years ago. Lanz Heating & Cooling installed the original heating/cooling system. About 2 yrs into our ownership, they contacted us to tell us the system they installed was inadequate and encouraged to be proactive and install a new system to avoid future problems. We took their advice and installed a new unit which was to have about a 15 yr life expectancy. Well half-way through the life expectancy, the unit again needs to be replaced. The whole subdivision we live in had Lanz-installed units and on any given day, you can see 2 or 3 HVAC company vans in the neighborhood doing work. When Lanz came out a week and a half ago, they informed us of a "neighborhood special which was upwards of $3,000.00!! It was insulting, especially when we took their advice and upgraded a unit that was only 2 yrs old and hadn't malfunctioned, thinking we were being "smart". This company has some serious issues. They waived the service call fee, but I was expecting them to come back with a fair and sensible solution, not an opportunity to make more money off us when whatever substandard unit they planned to install would fail in half the life expectancy but they were never able to provide me with an option to resolve this. Very disappointed in this company, it's management and ownership. A good number of my neighbors, co-workers and people in Champaign in our sphere of influence feel the same way.

 + -1 moreAfter our A/C unit stopped cooling on a Sunday we called Lanz and set up an appointment for Tuesday morning. We could have set it up for Monday, but Tuesday was better for us. Colby called 15 minutes prior to let us know he was on his way. When he arrived he checked the system for leaks; not finding any he returned to the shop to get the tent which would allow him to more thoroughly test the system. He completed his checks which included both indoor and outdoor coils and all joints. He didn't find a leak, but the system was low on refrigerant. He recommended adding a sealant to the system which wold be the most economical approach to the problem. As this was a situation that should have been picked up on the annual inspection which Lanz had done at the beginning of the month we were not charged for the initial leak check. Colby was friendly and professional. He arrived at the time he was scheduled and completed the work thoroughly and efficiently. We have used Lanz for a few years now and have found them, and their employees, to be prompt and efficient. From now on though, we will ask for Colby.
Description of Work: Checked the A/C unit for coolant leaks, added sealant and refrigerant to the system. Checked the system for normal operations.

I cannot remember the name of the gentleman who came to do the installation but he took his time to do through installation. Originally it was proposed as a half day of labor but ended up being two half days and it was still same price as initially quoted. I am pleased with the installation and enjoying the water now.

 + -1 moreBoth Ron and Mike were fantastic and did a great job really analyzing the systems and fine-tuning them to make sure everything was in great working order (they each spent approximately over 90 minutes completing their tasks). Although both had suggestions for accessories that might make the systems work better, they were not pushy about adding the accessories (e.g. UV lights for the HVAC system), just provided us with information about the accessories so that we could do some research and decide whether or not to get these additional accessories for our home. Also, each one did a great job explaining exactly what they were going to do, what changes they were going to make to the settings and suggestions for how to increase the work performed by the two systems. We have used Lanz since moving to Champaign 2.5 years ago and could not be happier with their service or the quality of the technicians they send out. Although all have been great, we'll definitely be requesting that Ron and Mike come back next time since (a) they were so professional and (b) to establish some knowledge base about our home. Again, we definitely love the quality of service that Lanz provides and we'll definitely stay with them for a long time into the future.
Description of Work: We have the White Premium Loyalty Package which covers both HVAC and Plumbing. We had one individual come out today for the annual servicing of these systems (Mike Marx for the plumbing and Ron Jancola for the HVAC).

 + -1 moreLanz put in a new heating and air conditioning system about 3 years ago. This summer the air conditioner quit working. I could not get Lanz to come and do service. I called 3 times over 5 days and every time I was told they would call me back. They never called me back. Who ever answered the phones evidently can't schedule appointments. I feel like my air conditioner should have been under warranty and maybe that is why they didn't want to provide service. They won because I gave up and got a different company to come and do the service.
