Howard is very friendly and knowledgeable. I've had to call him out twice and both times he was at my house in less than an hour. He even came on a Sunday afternoon. Had me up and running quickly. Highly recommend!

I received a quote of $350 to take down the wood door in place and install the new. Mr Helmuth called the morning of the scheduled installation and said the job required another person to install the door and his helper would not be available for a week. Please find someone else to do the job for you.

Called him to fix a spring and he broke my opener motor when re-attaching it. It got ripped off the wall first and then he cursed up a storm at Wayne-Dalton (manufacturer) and ended up splitting the metal plate when he angrily used a bigger and longer lag screw. I believe he knew he had at least cracked the plate because after taking my check he got in his truck and left (went to another job) before the garage door had been reset. The light was blinking, error, and he told.me to give it a few minutes and try it again. Well, 15 minutes later no luck, so I called him an he said he'd be back in another hour or so!!! I left the door open and he came by and "reset" it.... I ended up calling him back 3 times because he never properly reset the opening position.... needless to say, the plate broke by that evening and the motor was just stripping the bar because ge broke it. I sent him pictures through email, text, and talked to him on the phone. He just denies it up and down like I expected. I gave him a chance to make it right as a business professional, I asked for less than half of the cost it was for me to replace it. I wanted to give him a chance to make it right, but he asked why I didn't call him to replace it? Because HE broke it and doesn't deserve any more of my money!!! I'd compare what he did to me like lighting a firecracker and running away before it explodes..... except I knew he lit it when it blew up. I believe he knew he broke the plate, that's why he ran away and that's dishonest.... HE broke my unit, and then angry at me about it? Yeah.... I don't recommend him. Denied breaking it, said how does he know the person who came to replace it didn't break it? Well, I wouldn't have needed it replaced it it wasn't broke. He is very arrogant and can not admit he made a mistake. I called him personally to explain the situation and he just kept say, "Whatever". I wasn't even asking for anything, just making home aware. In fairness, he should have paid for at least half of the replace,net cost, but I was not going to call him back and give him anymore money because who knows what he'd do.

The first time we employed Howard Helmuth was a Saturday morning when our garage door refused to open--broken spring--both vehicles inside, and my husband and I, parents of three busy boys, had places to go. I started an online search for a garage door service that was willing to make a house call on Saturday morning. Howard was willing to do so. He had me on my way in about an hour and a half. The price just about matched my husband's estimate for replacing the broken spring (we believe Howard's pricing is fair). We were selling my parents' condo, due to close on Friday, realized Monday we would need to replace the opener. I called Howard, and he installed the opener and keypad that day. All works well. I would definitely phone him again to work on a garage door problem.
