I was really impressed with John, the sales person that initially came out. He answered all my questions and invited me to call back anytime if I had any more questions. I did. He was professional, timely and very helpful. He promised they would be able to get my job done before the end of November which was a huge selling point for me. I had been trying to get this problem remedied for several months, going from an excavator to a general contractor to a bricklayer before deciding to check with basement repair people. It would have saved me time and a lot of headaches if I had started there first. we live down the side of a hill, the driveway is rock and goes to the side of the house. We have a block foundation. the water has been running straight down the driveway, against the side of the house and causing pressure on the block wall. I believe they have remedied the problem. the workers initially thought the job would take two days but they came the first day with an extra guy, hoping to finish it in one. They worked until a little after 5:30 and got it all done! the crew chief, as well as the workers, were on time, friendly, courteous and professional. I was impressed with the whole job. they cleaned up after all of it as well. They cover things that are within 6' of where they work so I was responsible to cover the rest of it - well worth it to do it as there was lots of dust. I would hire them again, but sure hope I don' t have to. I think this will take care of it. They assured me if I had problems to give them a call.
Description of Work: Put in a French drain outside - approximate 30' and broke out the concrete floor, about 1' out. they did 1/2 of the basement, the side where I was having the most problem with. they dug the concrete out, put a new drain system in, filled it back up, then put new concrete over it. Also, drilled weep holes in the block walls, at the bottom.

A week or so later he called us back to schedule a time to come out and present his quote. When we could not find a convienent time to meet. my husband asked him to send the quote to us via email and we would have a conference call to discuss. We never heard from him again. Being suspicious of what he had said were the problems, we hired an engineer to review our situation. The engineer said that none of what Keven was talking about was needed, we were floored. Very disappointed in not being able to trust the word of a major player in the field of foundation repair. He saw dollar signs instead of working to help us.
Description of Work: Keven Welch was very responsive and came out as scheduled to review the problem causing water in our basement for the first time in 30 years.

The technician arrived on time, did the job, answered many questions, cleaned up and was gone in a timely fashion. He did a good job and appeared to be very knowledgeable about the project.
Description of Work: The technician put up five Helitch strips on our south basement wall which was starting to bow. We wanted to do something before it would end up being a huge expensive project.

My experience with Helitech was a mixed bag at best. I've had a bowing foundation wall in my basement that has gotten worse since a water main break early this spring. I called a couple of companies in and decided to go with Helitech for the work. They didn't try to up sell me on things, but presented various options and explained the pros/cons of each. I went with tie-back anchors for the wall plus a sump pump/drainage for water seepage during heavy rain. Due to the workload, I was scheduled about 6 weeks out. Understandable considering the time of year and when work can be done. The issues started when my start date came up. They had me scheduled for half a days work on Wed. May 22nd, and full days for Thursday and Friday (with the possibility of a short day Friday). I had to take all 3 days of work to be at home. Well, they called late Tuesday and said they would not be able to make it Wednesday. They explained that the weather that weekend pushed off a current project, but assured me that they could still finish the work that week. Not the end of the world. Thursday morning comes around and the foreman on the project calls me and said they wouldn't be out till that afternoon. The current customer had and quot;added onand quot; to job. Now, weather related issues I can understand, but after 6 weeks on a wait list and taking vacation time to be ready, it's wrong to continue to push me off for add ons. Then I get a call later that day that they wouldn't make it at all. In addition, they will now have to finish on Tuesday (that Monday was Memorial Day). So now, I have lost 2 vacation days at work for nothing done and I further need to take another day (on short notice) for them to finish on Tuesday. I called Helitech to express my displeasure with the scheduling and spoke with Sherry. She did apologize for the setbacks, but initially didn't offer anything to make up for it. After ASKING what could be done to make up for the delay, she said she would talk to her manager about an invoice credit. I left it at that for now. The guys showed up on Friday first thing and got to work. Once they started, they were great. They kept me informed all the way and the work went on with no hassle. The came back and finished up mid afternoon on Tuesday. They had everything cleaned up and explained what they had done. In the mean time, I never heard back from Sherry about the credit. I called once, left a message and didn't hear back. I called again and was told she was in a meeting. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they were in the same meeting. I then asked to speak to the territorial manager (who Sherry said was the decision maker in this case), and I was refused. Sherry finally called me back and said the credit would be $400. I expressed my disappointment as that doesn't cover even 2 of my burned vacation days, let alone 3. Not to mention the frustration of the situation. She says that was 5% of the project cost and there was nothing else they can do. To sum up, the work quality was fine. I'm no expert in how things are supposed to go, but there were no hiccups once things got started, everything was cleaned up, and it looks fine. The customer service and responsiveness were appalling. You simply don't and quot;add onand quot; to a project and keep customers on a 6 week waiting list waiting longer, especially after one delay. Reschedule the add ons for a later date. Very little consideration was given to the time off I had to take off that I could have saved. Just from the sheer frustration in dealing with the customer service, I likely will not use Helitech again and recommend people consider all options when having work done.

The foundation specialist was prompt, and had contacted me ahead of time to let me know that he was on schedule. He was courteous and thorough in explaining the settling issues of the house. He followed this up with a written analysis detailing their plan to pier the foundation, and an estimate for doing this. He also explained that this came with a lifetime warranty - lifetime of the house, and the warranty would transfer to new owners. Based on the amount of settling, and the volume of work necessary to feel confident that all was secure, I elected not to purchase the house. The cost listed was for the inspection and estimate. I did not actually hire them for the project, but I would contact them again should I need a foundation issue inspected.
Description of Work: I contacted Helitch to provide a thorough inspection of the foundation settling issues for a house I was interested in purchasing. They inspected the foundation with me present and then provided a detailed plan and estimate to pier the foundation.

Superb from start to finish. Very professional, thoughtful and mindful of our property. Efficient management of time and use of space. Completed job in 1 1/2 days. The entire 4 man crew was introduced at the start of the job to both myself and my wife. They always answered any questions or concerns we had and kept us involved in all aspects of the job. Re-explained what we would and should expect with the waterproofing. Advised us as to what to watch for, what would require a call to them......how the warranty works. A++++++ operation from start to finish!
Description of Work: Very good communication from the start with the estimate visit to the final meeting to explain, in great detail, what was done, how it was done and what we could expect going forward after the waterproofing of our base-ment. Highest display of professionalism, knowledge of job requirements, very efficient use of time and showed extreme respect for our property (even went so far as moving and replacement of a tulip plant near a window where they were working). Left work area cleaner than it was when they started.

We contacted Helitech from their website for an estimate, well aware that the potential cost to fix our problem was quite high. We were contacted early the next business day in order to set up an appointment for an evaluation and estimation. Our estimator, Larry, was very professional and understanding of our knowledge/lack of knowledge of the problem. He showed us how his product worked, as well as how his competitors systems worked and was willing to discuss the pros and cons of both their product and their competitors. The only hiccup was that once we scheduled the guys to come in we were told they would arrive between 7 and 8 am, but the actual arrival time was about 10:30am due to weather and the distance they were driving from (an hour and a half away). We could have slept in more if we'd known! However once they got here, they went over the work order to make sure we were all on the same page. After working for three days they finished and once again went over the entire thing to make sure I understood everything that had happened. They cleaned up well after themselves although a small amount of debris was left under the washer/dryer and in the yard. The basement looked better than before they got there, and the basement hasn't leaked into the house since!
Description of Work: Installed a new interior weeping system and connected a large crack in basement wall to said system. This involved digging a ~1' trench around the entire perimeter of the basement, installing both the weeping system as well as plastic liners along the walls, and then repairing the concrete over the new system. Also installed a new sump-pump system.

Helitech came recommended by an inspector, and after getting bids from several others, this was the most reasonable. Note that the other companies said more piers needed to be installed for a shifting foundation - but the inspector and others doubted that. Not being in the business, it's hard to tell if this will work, but a year later, seems to be fine. Courteous, punctual. Had a problem with the crew. They didn't clean up adequately, so when the supervisor heard, he came out and did it himself. Also put gauges around the house to check for future shifting - no extra charge.

Tony, the salesman came out about 1 year before I did the project. He was very knowledgeable about the situation. He did not push anything on me and was just as pleasant to work with a year after the initial estimate when I called him back to have the work done. After I signed the contract, the work took place within the timeframe I was told (both in terms of startng and completing the project). The crew was very punctual, pleasant, and competant. They were very professional the entire week they were here.
Description of Work: 2 of my basement walls needed anchors. They were so bad that I needed the outside dug down to the bottom of the foundatiom in order to pull the walls straight. While they had the holes dug I had them install an outside drainage system. I also needed a sillplate replaced which involved jacking the house up to replace.

I called them and asked to have someone give me a bid on leveling my porch (it had sunk in the front causing it to pull away about an inch from the house and affecting the opening and closing of the doors), and part of the driveway. They came out and I explained what the problems were. They noticed that part of the sidewalk also needed to be raised. They were the only company that gave me a bid that mentioned that I might need two external jacks to help raise the porch (that the weight would not let mudjacking alone raise it to the needed height). The other companies didn't mention this potential problem or wanted to pier the porch. If needed the jacking would cost an additional $300 ($150 each jack). Helitechs' bid was higher but I thought that raising the porch with jacks was probably going to be needed. The workers arrived on time and got to work. Scott told me he thought that the jacks were needed and I agreed. They jacked it up and the mudjacking worked as it should. After raising the porch it was obvious that the whole sidewalk would need to be raised to reach the level of the porch. The price would be $300 more for raising 5 more slabs of the sidewalk. I thought that that was a fair price and told them to do it. They then raised the driveway slabs. They cleaned up nicely after plugging all the holes drilled for the mudjacking. Scott then told me that I would need to seal all the seams in the driveway and sidewalk to keep the water from washing away beneath the concrete. He told me that this is what caused the problem in the first place, and to keep the warranty in effect would need to be done. I sealed the seams and got Finishing Touch Landscaping to help me with other water draining issues. In all, I was very happy with the work that Helitech did.

The estimator was professional, on-time and thorough. The technician was also professional, on-time and thorough. He did some extra surface preparation to aid in future painting. He cleaned up the area and provided good instructions for removing the tubes and preparing the surface for painting. The work was completed in the promised time and for the amount of the estimate. Spring rains will ultimately test completeness of the work, but at this point I am very satisfied.

Excellent service from initial call to quote to follow up calls to executing the work. Michael was on-time, courteous and cleaned up to my satisfaction. Do make sure you clear the area or cover any items you wish to not become covered in concrete dust (from the sanding). Do keep the paperwork under lock and key - if you decide to move the warranty can be tranferred to new home owners. Do keep in mind the edges of the carbon fiber are sharp! Overall the experience was excellent! I waited to file this report to ensure not only was the work done satisfactory at the time, I wanted to make sure there were no issues over the next year. From a visual perspective, we decided to paint over the carbon fiber with Behr concrete paint - a very dark gray color. It covered nicely.
Description of Work: Problem: Due to street creep, pushing the street into our driveway caused 4 cracks in our foundation. There were also a few exterier cracks on exterior foundation. We did not have any water leaks due to the foundation cracks. Solution: Homeowners cut out 3" gap at the bottom on the driveway. We marked the cracks and monitored for over a year to ensure that was the root cause. Once we we comfortable that the root cause had been identified and that the cracks were not getting worse we called upon Helitech to patch up the cracks and seal to ensure water would never come in. Several foundation repair companies had a variety of solutions - we felt Helitech's was the least invasive since the root cause had already been identified and addressed. Originally contacted Helitech for solution/quote July 2009. Their solution was to use carbon fiber. The quote at the time of the intial reach was $2884. A year later (when we were ready for the work to be done), the quote was the same - no change. We were scheduled about 7 weeks out. Deposit was put down for $961. The rest was paid at completion of the job. Description of fix: Total crack s= 7. Total length of cracks = 58 feet. Foundation was sanded down to make concrete flush and covering with carbon fiber.

Helitech came in to our home in April of 2010 to fix their drain tile system that we had them put in years prior. Then again in April of 2011 they came in to fix it again. Then in May of 2011 they came in again for the third time to take out their system and put it back. This time they folded it up into a ball threw it in the ground and covered it up. Todate it is still not working!!! While Helitech took the floor up three times they broke two walls in my basement. I have been trying to get them to call me back or take my phone calls. The president which is Bill Courtney or Tim Meyers or Dan Travors will not talk to me. I want all my money back which I paid them $28,000 with interest over the years this system has been messed up. Please don;t use this company their workers will tell you all they want to do is put a band aid on your home and walk away. this company has very poor service. No Human Resource department and their supervisors suck!

Response from HELITECH Waterproofing & Foundation Repair
On March 12, 1998, Helitech entered into a contract with (Member) to provide structural repair and water drainage services at 1388 Lee Street in Mitchell, IL. Specifically we were contracted to install 8 helical piers for vertical stabilization of the foundation, 162 linear feet of Hydraway drainage system and 84’ of epoxy injection for cracks in the foundation. This work was completed 10-28-98. Additionally, on 11-12-98 we injected 45’ of foundation cracks with epoxy materials. There were no problems at this home with additional water leakage for 12+ years after the work was completed. In May of 2010 we were contacted by the (Member)’s about concerns of water in their basement. We opened up the basement floor to inspect our workmanship and materials and found no problem with the drainage materials. It was also verified that the installation was per the manufacturer’s specifications. We replaced approximately 80 linear feet of Hydraway system along the front foundation wall of the home utilizing additional materials in an attempt to allow the system to move more water faster. This work was completed at no additional charge to the (Member)’s. The next call came in around May 2011 with a problem similar to the problem they had in 2010. Once again our investigation found no defects in workmanship or materials. However, we did find a definitive change in the water table under the home. There was now a spring like river running from under the basement floor and footing in multiple areas along the front wall. Helitech obtained the assistance of both staff and third party engineers to help assess the problems and figure out a solution. In June 2011, additional drainage materials were installed, at no additional cost to the (Member)’s, as an effort to try and drain the maximum amount of water possible and to provide some additional relief as a result of these flood conditions. In mid to late June the (Member)’s contacted Helitech again concerning additional water in their basement. Once again Helitech obtained the assistance of engineers to assess whether this problem could be resolved utilizing the Hydraway drainage system. The engineers came to the conclusion that a residential drainage system could not handle the volume of water from these flood conditions along with the extreme change in the water table. At this point, Helitech contacted our insurance carrier to determine if we were liable for any wrongdoing in this situation. An independent engineer, hired by the insurance company, gathered information and made a site visit the week of September 5, 2011 in order to determine the source of the problem. Ultimately, he came to the conclusion that the current problem was being caused by an extreme change in the water table over the past few years. A copy of his analysis has been included with this letter. After years of working through this process and attempting to resolve the (Member)’s water issues we are confident, based upon the analysis of multiple engineers, that this problem is being caused by a recent change in the water table. We believe rises in the level of Long Lake (which is located directly behind the (Member)’s home), rises in the Mississippi River, and the fact that they are the lowest house in the entire subdivision, have combined to cause their recent problems. The system worked great for 12 years before any problems occurred. When they started having problems can be tied directly to an increase in the aforementioned events. Our limited warranty explicitly outlines that we warranty defects in material and workmanship. The warranty excludes extreme changes in water table and flood conditions which are both present at this residence. Helitech requests that you review this information provided, along with the attached letter provided by our insurance provider. We feel we have gone above and beyond the limits of our warranty in an effort to provide relief to the (Member)’s and our reputation should not be negatively impacted as a result of our efforts given the circumstances of this “Act of God, flood condition and extreme change in the water table”. Sincerely, Dan Travers Manager, Customer Relations Helitech

He took absolutely NO measurements of any kind to attempt to see if the slab was level or not, or how far off. He could not identify ANYTHING to substantiate the cause...but was quite certain there was a problem in the slab...so I should rip out the carpet and then give him a call. For the most part, I felt like he more or less flipped me off. Not that he was rude, but was EXTREMELY arrogant. As I followed him out of the garage, down the driveway to attempt to get some, ANY idea of possible cost ranges, he did bother to turn around long enough to say that it might be as much as $20,000...or more. He just couldn't know...until I ripped out the carpet. This was the first company I contacted, followed by 5-6 others. NONE of them identified the slab, or any part of it as being part of the problem or necessarily even damaged. About 3 of the other companies took measurements (comparative levels), and ALL found it to be the outside foundation wall, a frost wall, to be the source of the problem. The wall had sunk, front to back, with it being lowest at the front (2and quot; lower). In as much as this also expained the and quot;twistand quot; of the wall, and again, they ALL agreed independently that this was the problem, that is what I had fixed. I narrowed my selection to 2 companies with slightly different approaches to lifting the foundation (outside wall, as well as, inside wall between garage and den), selected the one I preferred and had the work done almost exactly one year ago. The company, Mid America Piering, did a good job, was professional, and worked with me even to the point of including a completion date and penalty clause. One year later, everything looks good...as I would expect. The job cost me less than $10,000. THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD EVER USE HELITECH FOR ANYTHING.
Description of Work: VERY bad experience. I called this company, simply based on their TV advertising, as a starting place to get bids for foundation repair. I have a walk-out basement, but my garage and a large den sit to the side, not over the basement, on a 'slab' foundation. The wall between the garage and den was 'twisting' as shown by a large crack in the sheetrock coming from one corner of the inside garage door. This was most prominent on the den side of the wall. The crack had developed and grown over time to the extent that one could tell the rest of the wall going out to the outer wall had shifted. While Helitech was initially reponsive, set up an appointment to come out, and the "gentleman" was on time, he was pathetic. He walked in the garage, looked at the 3 walls, could see how the crack was also starting to show from the garage side, then basically did the same in the den. He looked closely at the baseboards all around the den, checked again for any cracks along the footings in the garage. None were present anywhere. It was somewhat OBVIOUS that the problem was with the outside wall, but he pronounced the problem to be in the slab in the den. ONLY in the slab in the den. And he said he couldn't tell me anything since the den is carpeted...well, could tell me nothing other than that I should rip out the carpet and call him back. Then he could (maybe) figure out what the problem was, how much damage and mudjacking would be needed to lift the slab floor back to level. And of course, until then he had no idea what the cost might be. When I pressed for at least some sort of ballpark idea, best case/worse case, he said that again, it depends on how much slab they'd have to rip out and replace, and how much mudjacking.

They were professional. They proposed more restructuring for our basement than we needed. Their prices were high. I would use their services in the future also.
Description of Work: I used Helitech Waterproof & Structural Repair services for an estimate for basement repair services. They provided us an estimate to fix a leak in our basement. I used their services in November.

It went extremely well. The job was carefully explained, they were punctual, they did the job rapidly and well. They are expensive, but in this case I got what I paid for.

It was a free bid. The guy seemed to be really knowledgeable; but they were way more expensive than everybody else. They need to improve on pricing. He said he would do anything to get our job; but he couldn't lower his price at all, so that was really the thing that put him out. I might consider using him in the future.
Description of Work: Helitech Waterproof & Structural Repair gave me a bid for leveling the concrete under my bedroom in January.
