Very bad and then to worse which is where we are at now. The case is in Circuit Court Clayton and Allen Roofing is the defendant. I can not say more at this time, other than breach of contract and invalid mechanics lien filed against them as a start. Many pictures taken, look at quality of workmanship.
Description of Work: "Substandard work and workmanship" per an independent roofing inspector after work supposedly done.

Description of Work: They replaced my roof shingles. The work included replacing some on the underlying wood that was rotted from water damage. Additionally, they removed my old roof vents and installed a modern ridge vent. They also replaced by gutter guard with a micro-mesh I had purchased from Cosco. Amazingly, the work was done in a single day! The installation was performed by one of their long-time subcontractors (very competent). Allen Roofing personnel came to my house during the installation to see how the installation was progressing. They also provided me with a lien waiver upon payment. I am totally impressed with the Caseyville office of Allen Roofing in Illinois.

Description of Work: Slow response. Final nailing in of a few items still not completed after nearly 2 years. Did not explain anything about roofing - why lower edge shingles bend down, importance of metal drip edge, why edge of roofing can be lifted up or how long it takes to really glue itself down. These are issues they could have explained at the outset rather than me having to do internet research and also trying to get answers from Allen. I had to hire someone to repair garage rafters broken when Alled replaced garage plywood - and I had to paint them as well at my expense. They did bot seem to understand the purpose of a drip edge recommended by the shingle manufacturer as well as many national roofing groups. They started tearing off the drip edge from the main house and I had to stop the workers and ask them to put this back. The roofing crew did a nice job, but needed someone to per vise. No one from Allen was there to do this. I was the none who noticed the drip edge removal (never brought up by Allen or in the contract). I also noticed they were replacing brown flashing with silver flashing - brown was there before. After I called they brought the right matching color. No one from Allen was present to supervise the job. I origin ball assumed they would supervise their own team's work - but they were not present unless I called them to say something was going wrong. | If anyone hires them, they should be prepared to be present . When work had to be rescheduled by Allen Roofing, I was nearly always put at the bottom of the list in terms of getting my roof done. Final inspection, (by the salesman) took several months to occur. The salesman always thought everything looked fine and was just plain wrong. I hired Allen because they HAD done a good job putting flashing around stone chimneys several years before. Now, I am left with a job that is still not completely finished. I would never use them again.

I used them because the guy across the street used them. We had some bad weather, and everybody in surrounding neighborhoods needed to get roofs repaired. The guy across the street actually knew somebody in the company. I think that he got a better job than I did. I can't say that I got a bad job. The workmen showed up. The guy who was supposed to supervise the job showed up an hour and a half later than the guys who were doing the work. The supervisor was the one bringing plywood in case any of the decking needed to be replaced. It already fell on the roof. If there was a board or two that needed to be replaced, they would have had to undone the work. I should have made them do that just for spite, but I didn't. The price wasn't actually the lowest bid I got. It was kind of in the middle. I decided to go with them because the guy across the street did. With regard to price, they were the best value for the money. The office guy who came out and did the bid showed up late on the day of the work. He was the only one that spoke English. I didn't really feel like I could communicate very well with the work crew, which made me a little uncomfortable. But the roof has not blown off and we don't have any leaks. I think we got a good job out of it. It just wasn't the absolutely best experience. I would consider using them again. I would get a bid from them again; I certainly have them on my shortlist.
Description of Work: Allen Roofing did the roof on the house, the roof on the detached two car garage and the gutters on the house.

It was fine. I had used them before for my roof and gutters. I was very pleased with the job they did. It was just more money than I wanted to spend right now for the siding.
Description of Work: I used Allen Roofing for siding. They gave me a bid. They redid it once for me at my request. It turned out to be too expensive.

I have no complaints with the work performed. When the roof was replaced they repaired the wood damage that was up there and properly flashed. They improperly flashed a weird vent I have in the wall so the spring loaded door couldn't open however they came back the day after I notified them and fixed it. I would go to them in the future for work that needs to be done.

From the estimate to the completed work, not one complaint. Cleaned up every scrap after the job was finished. Very professional and super fast job. Quality of materials was excellent. The salesman worked with our insurance company to get the job totally paid for. We did not have to do a thing. Would definitely recommend this company to anyone needing a roof.
