They are very misleading in providing their upfront pricing. I was basically lied to. I was quoted a price of $758 to replace a small section of pipe leading out to my septic tank. This pipe was inside in the crawl space. When I asked him why the price was so high, he said it was a 3 hour job. I didn't think it would take that long but foolishly agreed to move forward. You can almost guess what happened. The entire job takes 1 hour. Of course no price adjustment was offered. They tout their upfront pricing but know in advance they over estimate everything and you WILL pay more than the job is worth. The plumber also misdiagnosed a clog in that same line blaming it on the septic tank which he looked at. I called the septic pumper out. He pulls the cover and says why did you call me. The level in the tank is where it's suppose to be. He cleared the line by simply snaking the pipe. That cost me a $80 service call for Amy to tell me something that wasn't correct and $200 for the septic guy to come out when he didn't have to. Stay away from these guys. Every time I see one of their trucks on the road, I wonder who they are going to rip off today. Also tried contacting them but of course, didn't hear from them. Once they have your money it's over.

Pretty much OK. Came out the next day after we had a small flood due to the drain backup just past the washing machine. No actual water damage. Old water heater was starting to fail, so it was already leaking at the bottom of the tank, so they put in a new one. This issue is totally separate from the clogged drain. There was a small leak on the cold water line leading to the hot water heater, so they had to come back out the same evening to fix that right away; re-sweat the Copper pipe joint. They were cool about the whole thing and cleaned up what little extra water there was on the basement floor due to that leak. No damage at all. Overall it went smoothly and they were friendly, didn't BS us, so we'd use them again. Price was a little higher than I expected but all things were fixed less than 24 hours after we found the problems.
Description of Work: Fix clog in drain line, add bio-degradable material in all drains to keep lines clear, provided add'l material for us to use at regular intervals in the future. Installed a new 75-gal gas powered hot water heater.

They did a wonderful job. They are extremely knowledgeable about lot of different things and don’t charge for stuffs that you don’t need done. The reason why we went with them was because we checked with lot other people but all were trying to sell lot other stuffs with the water heater. Their work was excellent. One of our friends also used them and was very impressed with them. They were in within two days putting it out.

Very well. They responded promptly to my web inquiry with a phone call and came out the next day to do the estimate. The same person who did the estimate did the installation work. He was professional and competent. Amazon sells the water heater for about $2000. The estimate I received was $5000 installed. It took about 10 hours to install it and involved rerouting gas, electric and water lines. There was probably a good profit earned by them, but I am completely satisfied with the result and timeliness of the installation (they installed it the day after the estimate). They offer a monthly "service" plan thing which they push and entice you to sign up with a discount. In my case the discount was about 3 times the cost of the plan so I signed up. Please note that to cancel you have to appear at their place of business in person so it's designed to be difficult to stop after the year contract is up. It includes some free cleaning and inspection services as well as a discount on future work.
Description of Work: Installed an Eternal hybrid water heater after inspecting the house and determining that it was the best fit for the size and constraints (the Eternal is on demand water heater with a small 2 gallon tank for instant hot water) . Installed an Aprilaire whole house humidifier that I had purchased from Amazon.

We live in a historic house, so things don't always go as planned. We inherited several plumbing nightmares when we purchased this house, one of which was the leaky Master Bathroom. When it started raining in our foyer, we discovered that our Master Bathroom was leaking into a carpet remnant the sellers had used to disguise the leaky plumbing. We called in Amy to fix the pipes. The technician came out, took one look and identified that the pipes were well past their serviceable lives, and informed us we needed to re-pipe the shower. We decided to just gut the thing and start from scratch since we were dealing with galvanized pipes, and we just didn't know what condition the rest of the bathroom plumbing was in. We hired Amy to remove and replace all the plumbing in the bathroom. Removal of the pipes and fixtures went mostly smoothly, though they did damage a shared wall in our living room and foyer removing the main waste pipe going down to the basement. They repaired this though. Now, because we had removed everything in the bathroom down to the studs, plumbing the bathroom should have gone off without a hitch. I showed them where all the fixtures would be going, and they did plumb them in those locations, but all the supply lines are coming up out of the floor, instead of straight out the walls as you see in most modern plumbing. When I pointed this out, I was told that there was nothing they could do about it, but I know they could have fixed this before our contractor covered the floor. Shame on the technician for not fixing it, and shame on our contractor for closing the floor before I could force them to fix it. Now, we have a beautiful bathroom...with a hole in the floor behind our pedestal sink because of the supply lines, and with a pipe sticking up out of the middle of the floor next to our toilet. Had this been corrected before the exposed floor was covered, I would have given them an A+++. But, it wasn't corrected, the floor was covered, and we had to just make the best out of an awkward situation. Prior to this, though, we had used them to repair a burst exterior pipe and to relocate the plumbing for our washer/dryer/utility sink. Our experience with them repairing a burst pipe was great. Priced fairly, done quick and the work is good. When we had them relocate the plumbing for our washer/dryer and utility sink in our basement, we were happy overall. The pricing seemed a little high, but we are pretty far out of their service area, so we went with it. The work is good, and we are happy with that job. Overall, Amy does very good work, the technicians are knowledgeable and experienced, and their staff is courteous and respectful. Their pricing is not the lowest, but not the highest. We would hire them again.
Description of Work: Amy Plumbing & Heating has performed work for us several times. They have re-plumbed some piping in our basement, repaired a burst pipe and they re-plumbed our master bath.

Poor. Was here less for 30 minutes and charged $243. I complained to the manager and he thought that the price was high for the time but the price was appropriate for the type of job. Offered to do an A/C maintenance for free but I wouldn't trust them to sweep my driveway. I just had a simular repair today and not only was the price much less, but the fixed part of what AMY did. They hung a pipe but did not add the support for it so it bowed. Wouldn't recomment them to an ememy. Note that 90%+ of my reviews are very favorable.

Mr doesn't like to do business with people who are not willing to negotiate. Price was quoted before work began and then decided he wanted to pay hourly after we got the problem resolved fast and efficiently. We did offer some free maintenance for his a/c which was a $99.00 value but he was only looking to price haggle.

They are very qualified. They may be a little pricy they’re worth every penny. They’re top notch. I can count on them to do the right job. They also have good cleanup and they offer service plans that provide great discounts. They will give you a free inspection of plumbing or electricity once a year with some service plans. We had found a potential problem that was found during one of those inspections. They will also give free servicing on AC units or furnaces with the service plan.

I like them because they are home services. They do electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning and they do everything. It's a kind of one stop shop. I don't know if they do any advertisements or have any website. I heard of them through word of mouth. They have a pretty big operation. They are expensive but I am happy with their work so I don't mind spending the extra money. They have licensed plumbers and electricians.

The plumber, Brad, was a bit late but I was kept informed of his progress at the previous job and was not inconvenienced. It was actually a Sunday, so was happy to have a non-emergency plumbing appointment available at all! He inspected the floor drain and tested the sewer line for backup by running water in the basement. It was clear that there was no problem with my interior plumbing or drains and he verified that the backup I had experienced was from the town sewer line. At my request, Brad then plugged the drain so that another sewage backup could not occur. I was impressed that he didn't try to sell me an expensive, complicated repair job, and even more impressed when I was told there was no charge for the visit or the drain plug that was installed. (I had been told when making the appointment that there would be no charge for the estimate). Would definitely recomment this company.

The estimate was for almost $11,000. It was way too high. The electrician just had to take the pipe off and put it under the board. He looked at it and said it was a very big job. I thanked him, but he came in again with the estimate. The estimate was just outrageous.

The serviceman cleaned the furnace for approximately $100. Then informed us the pilot light should be cleaned as well, but that may not solve our problem. We agreed to pay an extra $250 for him to clean the pilot light. (Thankfully we had a coupon online that saved us $50.00, then received an additional discount for the service call because we were recommended to them from another company. Otherwise this service would have cost us around $500) Once all the work was complete he reassembled the furnace. After trying to start the furnace back up he informed us that our pilot light will no longer stay lit; and that we will now need a new gas valve. A new gas valve would cost approximately $500, or we could purchase a new 80% efficiency furnace for approximately $3,800. We told him we need to get another quote to compare prices. Once he left, we were without a working furnace for over 30+ hours, and it was 10 degrees outside. I called another company to see if they could have someone look at the furnace. Their representative came out in the snow after 7pm and discovered the previous serviceman from Amy did not reassemble the furnace correctly. There was nothing wrong with our pilot light. He got our furnace up and running, and gave us a quote for a new 95% efficiency furnace, resizing our return duct and longer warranty for $4,000. A few days later, Amy Home Services called to find out how our experience was. I told them we were left without a working furnace and called another company that actually fixed the problem. She kindly thanked me and that was it. I Emailed them a longer description of my experience. A few weeks later I received a letter from them. I'm assuming it was an explanation of my issue and how they made their best attempt to solve it. At least the envelope was addressed to me; the letter was actually to an entirely different person with a different furnace problem. So they apparently send out so many of these letters they don't bother to check who they're sending them to? I will not be using them again, nor will I recommend them to any of my friends & family.
Description of Work: Our older furnace needed to be cleaned badly, the gas was not exiting the burners correctly and creating small "explosions" in the furnace. The serviceman came to the house to clean the furnace, then told us the pilot should be cleaned to help solve the problem (which was an extra charge.) After the services performed we needed another quote for a new furnace.

I was unable to 'open' my tenant's bathroom-sink drain with the usual approaches; including plunger, "drain claw", Drano & trap removal. I contacted Amy's based upon a referral. Amy's representative claimed that they could send a licensed plumber (with a fully-stocked truck) after the current appointment. I was provided a 2-hour 'arrival window'. Amy's called to notify me that the plumber was in-transit to my location - He arrived within the proposed 'window'. I related the problem, as well as the chemicals I had used in an attempt to 'open' the drain. The gentlemen explained Amy's 'flat fee' structure & 'Amy's Club' benefits. The plumber proposed 'rodding' the galvanized-steel drain (discharge) pipe. 'Rodding' did not come with any guarantees - but most work is warranted. The work & clean-up was completed in about 15-minutes. Methods & Products to keep the drains flowing were explained to me. Job "Well Done" - Thank You, Ae.

The quotes we got were: $79 for the call PLUS $243 to remove all current parts and reinstall! It was something like $400 for them to replace all parts in the tank - for $40 worth of parts! $788.00 to replace the toilet - this is for a top of the line toilet mind you, but still I was not given any other option. Yikes! There ended up being a crack in the tank which means the tank could have just been replaced for under $100. We have had a lot of issues with the existing toilet so I had them replace it completely, and it was my decision, but I feel like I ripped off. Almost every time I have used Amy, they always are professional, always come when they say they will, they always call right before they leave to confirm. I love that. But their prices are very high and they almost always have to come back because they either forgot something. This time, the base of the toilet was not secure - it moved when you sat on it - lovely. I called them back and they told me they would not be able to come back until the 2nd in the afternoon. I told them that was not acceptable and they said they could move it to 8 am on the 2nd, but they should have come back the next day (the 1st) and fixed it - they told me they could not send out a service person on an overtime day for something that was done on a regular day. For $800, you should not have to "clean up" their work. Plus I checked on the price of the toilet and it is $300 plus the insides cost $99, so for a $400 toilet, I paid $800. That does not feel good. I would have felt better at $600. That would be reasonable. I have not called them to complain, so I will be doing that and possibly be leaving an update.

This is the precise reason we quote our suggested repair before we do any work. There is not a more fair way of doing business than to tell you exactly what we are going to charge before we do any work. This practice gives you every opportunity in the world to go a different path, shop other places or do the work yourself. It disheartens me to find an overall "C" rating on this site without ever haven spoke to you. It is also disappointing to hear such great things about our company, only to be judged in the end by price, our prices are directly responsible for all of the things that you were happy about during your service visit, the ability to hire the best technicians, train our employees to follow the systems and procedures that let you know when we are on the way, meet are small 2 hour appointment windows etc. $788.00 for a $356.00 toilet with installation by a licensed plumber is not overly expensive. Our systems and procedures have earned us an A+ rating with Angie's List, A+ rating with the BBB and an A+ rating with ServiceMagic I welcome your phone call to come to some sort of conclusion but these are the most difficult circumstances when a customers agrees for said work, gets what they want and agrees to the finances only to have buyers remorse later. It's expensive to run a business and for this I apologize. I understand you would feel better at $600.00 but i also know you would feel even better at $500.00 or $400.00 or $300.00 but that's my job, to determine fair rates for us to charge on a daily basis. When we consistently get A+ ratings and feed back with firms like Angie's List and the BBB we have to assume we are doing what's right for us as a business and you as a consumer. Please call me when you have time so that I can have the opportunity to honor our 100% satisfaction guarantee. Jason

They quoted two different prices because if I join their club then the price is less as I get a discount. They take money from my regular account whether I use them or not.
Description of Work: I used them to replace the water heater.
