The cost was way too much. They should have shown up for the service call the day. I took a day off work and they didn't show up. It was not a good day.

As a result of their prompt service in scheduling my move and coming down on a Sunday to activate service at the new house (which worked for my work schedule), I was very pleased with the customer service provided by Wow. I have also not had any problems with their on-going Internet service - the speed has been consistent and I've seldom noticed service interruptions.
Description of Work: I moved houses recently, and Wow Way Cable company (WOW) was very prompt at scheduling my service move. They even had staff working on Sunday to schedule service activation.

After a really decent business relationship for 17 years, things went bad very quickly. We lost cable TV connectivity mid-December about 2014 and requested a service call. We were out of service for 3 days before a technical visit could be arranged. The service was restored about two hours before the technicians visit, Coincidentally (??), another WOW technician was down the street when cable was restored. The technician arrived, found nothing wrong with our service, exchanged an insignificant splitter and left. We requested a rebate for the three days via telephone. Cable went down on CHRISTMAS DAY and we arranged for a visit on 12/29. This technician played a bunch of technical games with the system, couldn't figure out the problem and, finally, at my insistence, changed out the gateway device. updated the programming and service was restored. I asked for the technician to arrange a credit for the 5 days that cable was out. In January, I received a line item charge for 2 x $50 Tech Visits. These are technical visits to repair equipment THEY OWN and I RENT. I immediately called WOW and demanded they remove the 2 x $50 charges. They took off one charge but refused (in the person of the "supervisor" at the call center) to remove the other. I immediately went out and did a little research and replaced WOW with ATT at a better price, with a higher speed internet connection and more cable channels and they installed it in three days. When I returned my equipment at WOW's office in Naperville, IL, I requested the status of the two separate service rebates and they refused to issue them. BOTTOM LINE: Good Customer for 17 years, WOW's refusal to maintain equipment critical to service, extra charges to fix THEIR equipment and refusal to rebate outages of service doomed this business relationship. In a business as competitive as cable and Internet service, I cannot understand WOW's refusal to honor my reasonable requests. If they had made a better decision several places in the process, I would have remained with them. I was able to replace WOW in about one hour of research at a discount.

I have had Wide Open West as my cable, phone and internet provider for many years. I have very few problems with their service. They are responsive on the phone. They try to solve the problem over the phone first and have a great deal of patients trying to talk you through solving a problem. Fact is the few times I have had to call them it was because of something wrong on my end. The couple of times they have had to send a tech out they have always been punctual, knowledgeable, and have never made a mess. They always have solved the problem. I have had Comcast in other homes and these guys are light years ahead in every area.
Description of Work: I was getting interference on my cable tv reception. They came out and discovered that a signal booster that i had installed myself a couple of years prior was the problem. In spite of that there was no charge.

My husband was frustrated with erratic cable signal and the fact that a tv station guide is not available that is compatible for our area and WOW tells him to just look online. He was told online is the only way to get listing of stations - which he told them is not accurate and does not have all stations currently available by name and number to be used with remote control.

Installation is done by an outside contractor. He was very professional. I received a call from WOW that he would be early, but that was not the case. I received another call 4 hours later from WOW, and he arrived then. I started my contract 2 years ago at $55 and it has escalated to $85 without changes by me to my service.

WOW!!!!! The name says it all. Within the first 10 days of having the service there was a tech here 7 times! There was not ONCE where all three service worked simultaneously. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when the last tech arrived at 9:05pm, when the appointment was scheduled between 2pm and 8pm (with a scheduled call when they were on their way....that never came) and he was either intoxicated, more tired than he has EVER been in his life, or something else was making him stumble I immediately called the Company and told them their equipment needed to be picked up off my front porch within 24 hours if they wanted it back. They did infact pick everything up the next day, but two weeks ago 5/2014 we received a unpaid bill for $3,254.19 for "unreturned equipment" I called they fixed their error! What else can you say but WOW????

Called wowway one days about starting internet service. They immediately schedule a time the next day. They showed up. Installed service an stuck around while I tested the speed. Good price and provided the service I expected this was so great after having a horrifically bad experience with trying to get Comcast to do the same.

We have been having difficulty with our phone/internet dropping. Callers cannot hear us but we can hear them. Tech came out checked inside and said problem was outside wiring. He said the cables had to be buried. They contacted me about why "I" wanted the cables buried. I told them the tech said so not me. Nothing was done. No one came. I called again because the problem was not solved (dropped calls) and they said someone would come out. Two men showed up at the door, no phone call first, and asked me why I wanted my cable buried. I said it was not my idea but the tech. He said the tech was too lazy to do his job. They went to the back to check things out. Carried cables back there. Next I knew they were gone and nothing was done. I waited for some information to come from WOW when it did not come I called again. They sent a tech out. He said he could not touch the cable that is drooping onto our garage because it was touching an old ATT cable and he did not want to be electrocuted. He said I have to call AT&T. I have not had AT&T hardline phone since I started WOW decades ago. He left no one contacted me. I called again today after more dropped calls and was told I have to deal with AT&T because they wont take their lines off our garage roof until AT&T comes out to remove theirs. You also have many buttons to push and long wait times when you do call about the service. I would NEVER recommend this company to ANYONE!

I have several addresses with this provider but one address is constantly under attack for phishing and pretending to be WOW. WOW has done nothing to fix this problem. I continue to report the concern even though it comes from many different starting addresses who claim to be WOW. I am ready to return to Comcast who knew what to do.

The installation was great. The installer was on time, and performed his work efficiently. My only negative experience was the sales person I talked to when setting up the installation. There was a little confusion about whether or not I already had a cable modem, but luckily the installer brought one with so the installation was a breeze. They did have to bury a new cable, which they did the next week after determining what was already buried in the yard to prevent possible problems. WOW's speeds are just as good as they advertise, and they don't play pricing games like other companies.
Description of Work: WOW performed a cable installation that included burying the cable line to provide access to a disabled cable outlet.

We have been using this provider for about 10 years. There is no contract. When they changed to a new billing system a few months ago it was hard to get ahold of them but usually we are able to get through to them and the service reps are professional and nice. We decided to add landline phone service after being nickeled and dimed by our old phone company.

Absolutely outstanding!! Great!!
Description of Work: All representative, from the initial contact (Walter Roy) thru actual installation were most knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Walter fully explained all aspects of service being offered and pricing without any high pressure tactics. After reviewing the proposal, I immediately signed up. I did not even have to sign a contract and the prices are guaranteed until Jan. 2015. The installer arrived promptly on the scheduled time. All work was performed quickly and professional. An explanation of features was most appreciated. All questions were clearly explained. As usually happens after installing new service, as soon as the installer departed many questions came up. A call to the support personal was quickly and patiently resolved.

I bought a new computer and was having trouble setting up my e-mail account in the new "Wndows Live Mail" in Windows 7. I tried to get help through the Microsoft help website which led to a lot of frustration. Then I tried the company that sold me the computer, and they tried, but couldn't figure it out. Finally I called WOW, which is my Internet and cable TV provider. Their computerized menu was short and easily understandable. It routed me to a actual real live person quickly and that person understood my problem immediately. She was knowledgeable and she guided me through the set-up step by step. She told me that my Outlook address book wouldn't propagate to Windows Live Mail and suggested I e-mail my old address book to myself. I only e-mail about a dozen people, so I chose to just go to the old computer and copy the address book by hand, rather than try to get the old computer hooked up to the Internet again. I actually understand the process now.

I would choose this company over the other big cable company that has quite a monopoly on cable and internet service. Their service on the phone and in person is generally pretty good.
Description of Work: We have had WOWWAY as our internet service provider for about 4 years now. They were recommended by the former owners of our house. We have been pretty satisfied with them overall, though the price of any cable/internet provider has certainly gone up recently. I cannot stand their BIG competitor, so I was very glad to have an alternative that is for sure. When we have needed service, the technicians generally show up within the window of time we are assigned and are fairly friendly.
