About a Year ago give or take a few months I purchased What is Described above and paid the "Beginning hookup fees" and for the High Speed Internet. For Six Months i attempted to get Century Link to do what they told me they would do "Just walk me through the Process, that the Router was Easy to Hook-Up and that i would have NO Problem getting them to just Walk me through setting up the Router" --"No Problem at all Getting them on the Phone to Walk me through the Process." This was not the case. For four to six months I had to pay for Internet Services that I never did receive because i was Unable to get anyone on the phone at Century Link to do what they said. I spend FOUR HOURS on the Phone with Century Link one Day and Went from Dallas Texas, to Salt Lake City, Utah, To Lousiana, to other places all over the United States and each time I spoke to someone at Century Link ( A Representative)--I was told "We have to get someone to help you in the area in which you live." I went through three or so more times of this and many Hours on Different Days; and finally called Time Warner Cable for High Speed Internet Access, after about 4-6 months or more. The Entire time I had to PAY Century Link for the Services that I never received. Also there is something "fishy" about this "Long Distance Provider" with Century Link called either "Central Telecom" or "Universal Telecom" and I was ripped off with that one as well. Also while I continued to have home phone service with them they continued to charge me for the Internet Service even though Time Warner Cable was Providing the Services and not Century Link. Century Link then Put the Internet Service on "Vacation" and charged me over $13.30 Cents for a long time. Finally my Phone Line was "Cut" Outside my home most likely in an attempt to force me to pay them the "Fee" to come "fix the Line which would have been over 100.00; as I had declined "Line Protection." However, I have had much more trouble with an alarm company called CPI SECURITY--that has been extremely alarming and continues to be; not just for me, but for hundreds of People. Their reviews on "Rip Off Report" are all True ! CPI SECURITY is the most PREDATORY Company I know of ALL. The Alarm cannot work without WIFI. I had Century Link Phone Service while I had CPI and was having trouble with BOTH and have had trouble with Century Link in Salter Path NC before I ever had CPI Security as well. So I then had to pay for two months of service with no phone services at all including home Phone. Then I had to pay for two Routers. They sent some Collection Letter from some Law Firm in Nashville Tennessee (as an intimidation tactic); the last two months when i would not pay for the second router because of all the months i did pay for services and there were NONE. So I called Century Link and Paid for the 2nd Router, under Protest. And I got Out of the "Long Distance Rip Off with Universal Telecomm." And I got Rid of Century Link and I will NEVER go Back. I am still trying to get RID of CPI Security even though some woman called and agreed to "release me from the contract." Which is only five years and I had the alarm installed in 2008-9 and this is 2014 so I am well past my five year mark and this is my Third Alarm with CPI Security. I can assure you this is also my Last? CPI Security is the biggest rip off of all and they are "SCARY" as well and PREDATORS. The only reason I am mentioning CPI Security in this review is that the only reason I got WIFI for for some "camera equipment" Outdoors that I purchased for "Protection" last March of 2013. My five year contract was already up and all I asked for were Cameras and they never worked, nor for me anyway--but the Cameras have to have WIFI to "work." Several times the CPI equipment had been unplugged after I left my Home and came back. Someone who knew My "Passcode" would have to be the person who did this or CPI "gave someone" my Passcode. I did not add a New Security System nor did I ask for anything but Cameras and had to pay 250. for those that never worked. But that's another "Review." Century Link is nothing like it's Predecessors. They are Ruthless, Unscrupulous, and Greedy. My Parents and other family from Elizabeth City NC, have been in the telecommunications business and have owned a few shares of their stock before they were "Century Link." Some still do today. However, it isn't worth much. I would not recommend ever doing business with Century Link for either Home Phone Service or Internet Service.
