Although the company usually employs 4 to 6 employees, we pride ourselves on being family owned and operated for over 40 years. Our business has survived because of our dedication to quality workmanship, service and competitive pricing.
The job went very well. This was something we were putting off for a while - not knowing how it would turn out (dust factor). We were very pleased with the job and would not hesitate to hire this company for any additional work.
Description of Work: Bud's Floors sanded down and refinished our kitchen floor, hallway and wood trim in two adjacent rooms.

Terrible! I called on a Tuesday afternoon and spoke to a lady and explained to her what my issue was and made an appointment for Friday at 2:00. I get a call on Friday morning from Dave saying he could not make it out to the city and would have to cancel. I was okay with that and asked if he could reschedule the estimate. He didn't want to reschedule and asked me to send him some pictures. Prior to sending out my pics, I explained to him my problem over the phone. I live in a condo and my fridge leaked and messed up the harwdwood floor in my kitchen and hallway. The boards were cupped and there were gaps in between the boards. He said I would have to re-sand all my floors in my entire condo! I asked if there were any alternatives because I would rather not re-sand my entire floor and have some cosmetic issues (Non-matching boards) as long as the hardwood floors were flat. He asked what my square footage was, I told him and then gave me an estimate of $4,000 without looking at pictures or giving me any alternatives in service. I told him that I would rather have non-matching boards as opposed to re-sanding the entire condo and moving all my furniture around from room to room. I asked him to come out to my place, like we had agreed upon and give me some options on fixing the issue as an alternative to re-sanding my entire condo. He told me to figure out the square footage of the problem are and let him know! I told him that is his job and to give me his professional opinion of what needs to be fixed and a real estimate. He then preceded to tell me that fixes this all the time and that it costs him $50 to do an estimate every time. I told him how in the world he gets any jobs if he is not willing to come out to look at the issue and diagnose the problem and give options on how to fix the damage. Oh one more thing, he said if I sent the pictures to him, he wouldnt get a chance to look at the pictures until next Thursday?!?! I dont know how any one can trust someone that gives B.S. estimates over the phone without looking at the problem and giving a fair and accurate assesment of the damage and alternatives. Takeaways from this business: 1) it is not worth their time to come out and look at jobs that are preceived as small 2) gives the highest estimate possible without looking at problem 3) waste of his time to give an estimate. Pretty terrible if you ask me..
Description of Work: I called on a Tuesday to get a "free estimate" and scheduled an appointment for 2:00 PM on Friday. Some guy Dave called Friday morning to cancel the estimate saying he couldn't get out to the city and basically it was a waste of his time. They did absolutely nothing.

Was able to provide me a clear estimate over email with the aid of photos and dimensions--a huge time savings for me. Was a little late o the day of the work because of very bad weather and resulting traffic, but kept me informed the entire trip in to the city. Kevin was efficient, patient, courteous, quiet, and did fantastic work. I was told that "no one" could fully restore the terrible CLR damage I had on my bath vanity--only that it could be "improved". But it's perfect. Every spot of water etching is gone, the damage is invisible and it's a clear gloss finish. I feel like I have a completely remodeled master bath--what a difference the polishing makes! And there's not a speck of mess anywhere. They did a perfect job cleaning up, which to me is just as important as the work they did.
Description of Work: Restored severely water-damaged marble bath vanity, cleaned and sealed kitchen granite.

Initially good. We used Bud back when it was Bud Faltinoski. They were prompt for the quote and to do the job. But after the work was completed, - almost within 2 weeks, we started to notice the finish wearing in some areas. We called them back right away and they were very responsive. They came back out, did a quick sand and put down another coat. But overall the job was not good at all. We are having to redo the floors all over again. To give some perspective, we had our upstairs hallway down almost 7-8 years ago and those floors look almost perfect. The floors that Bud did were in our kitchen and dining area. As such, they do get much more wear and tear but the finish has not held up well at all. I would not recommend Bud's. When it was Bud Faltinoski, they were great but since the transition, the quality has really taken a nose dive.

Great!
Description of Work: The job was refinishing three bedrooms, with closets, living room and hallway. John came out and estimated the job on time. The job was set up upon our schedule of refurbishing the home. I rescheduled the work one time due to an issue without any problem on their part. The workers did a very good job of controlling the dust and cleaning up when they were done. They estimated the job would take up to three days. 'They finished in two days. The floors look beautiful!

Description of Work: DOS: We were extremely satisfied with the work done. They pulled up our old carpeting and completely refinished our floor. They even came back with a fix for one of our stairs that needed to be replaced. This was done in a very timely manner. DON'TS: There aren't any.

The job was quoted as taking one day to complete. Two workers arrived on time and soon came to the conclusion that the job would take longer. Unfortunately, I don't remember the workers' names, but the gentleman that polished the marble tile did an excellent job. The other worker who removed the bathroom grout, regrouted and replaced a couple of tiles seemed to be in a hurry and replaced one of the broken tiles without leveling the base, leaving the new tile 1/4" higher on one corner than the rest of the floor. He offered to redo it and got it right the second time around. In addition to the regrouting and repairs, the floor was to be sealed. I had read reports on Angie's List that this company left their work areas clean upon completion of the job. I ended calling them back to clean and seal the floor after finding grout on tile and dust on the floor, which made me believe they had not sealed the floor as requested. They were responsive to this request. The job took 3 days to complete. After all was said and done, I did notice that a molding was cracked where a tile had been replaced, and a tile which should have been recemented is still loose.
Description of Work: Marble shower/tub surround and marble bathroom floor regrouted. Marble shower surround polished to remove etching. Replaced 2 broken marble tiles. Cleaned, repaired and restained grout on entry way tile.

I wanted an expert to take a look at my steam shower and some ceramic tile in the master bathroom and tell me if there was mold and clean and recaulk it. I consulted Angie's List and obtained bids from three firms. Paul Eaton was the representative from MarbleLife, I guess a subsidiary or partner with Bud's Floor Service. Of the three, MarbleLIfe came in with the highest bid, but I like the fact that Paul was not pushy and seemed knowledgeable. The technician sent to do the work was indeed conscientious and knowledgeable. He made certain that the almond color caulk was the correct color by testing an area with two different colors and allowing me to make the choice. The work took about 4 hours with 2 days' wait time for the shower and another two weeks before we could mop the bathroom floor. The tile appears cleaner; I was told there were no mold worries. I liken it to dry cleaning . . . I really don't know if my clothes are "clean" other than looks and smell. So I'm glad to have gotten that off my "check list." And I know that the caulk is cleaner, the seams are sealed and there's no mold. I would call MarbleLife or Bud's again with any flooring concern.
Description of Work: Technician chemically cleaned a steam shower and recaulked the seams at the base of the shower with almond caulk. He chemically cleaned the floor and color sealed the grout with linen color. He scrubbed the tile and grout in the shower and sealed the grout with clear sealer.

They did a great job, as usual. We had used them prior to replace carpets with hardwood throughout an the second floor of our first home. They are reliable, on time, and very thourough in their work. They keep the workspace as clean as possible, clean up after themselves, and make it look like the floors have always been there. We found their rates to be very reasonable as well.
Description of Work: We were remodeling our kitchen. As a result, we decided to pull out the pergo that was there, as well as carpet in two rooms, and replace everything with hardwood. They put in hardwood in most of our first floor.

AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE DEALING WITH DAVE OUT OF THE LISLE OFFICE. HE RESPONDED VERY PROMPTLY TO REQUEST FOR QUOTE AND PROVIDED THE QUOTE ON THE SPOT AND DIDN'T DEVIATE FROM IT AFTER JOB COMPLETION. HE WAS HAPPY TO SPEND ANY AMOUNT OF TIME TO ANSWER QUESTIONS DURING QUOTE AND DURING THE COURSE OF THE INSTALLATION. TOTALLY HONEST. HIGHLY KNOWLEDGEABLE. PROMPT. STARTED AND FINISHED ON PROMISED DATES. HIGHLY OPEN TO CUSTOMER'S SUGGESTIONS ABOUT INSTALLATION DETAILS. AGAIN, A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH.
