+ -1 moreVendors response after contacting him regarding work I needed to have performed. His response is below. and never responded after that. I received your inquiry through Angie's List. Techinically I don't have to honor the coupon because of it's expiration date, but I am willing to. However, I will have to fit that in when I get a chance. Right now I am booked about two weeks out and waiting for responses to some other bids. If you can wait, I can honor it. I just can't promise right now exactly when it will be. Then I bought the deal and then he said he just got overwhelmed, but then he did end up coming and he did a good job. The price was good. I had the deal and then it wasn't too much more than what I had already paid.

+ 0 morePerfectly. My handyman had problems getting the new light to work and thought there might have been a voltage problem. However, when I hired a professional electrician from Angie's List I knew I would get results. Mark Lewis did not disappoint. He is a PRO from the word, "go." Since the house was built in the late 70's, the electric has always been questionable, so he followed the wiring and checked to see if it was in conduit or just free floating in the wall. I also had foam insulation blown into the walls which he had to address while installing the new light. Long story short, I have a beautifully working light that I know won't burn my house down! He's now going to install the same light at my sister's house.

+ -1 moreAfter their assessment of what needed to be done to mount a new fixture box in our porch ceiling, they proceeded to do so. The work was completed in a timely manner and we were left with what we needed - a box to mount a new light fixture. Apparently, one of the previous owners of our house decided to mount an overhead light on the porch ceiling without the proper electrical hardware to complete the job. No fixture box - just an armored cable with the wires connected directly to the light.
Description of Work: We used Advantage Electric for one of your "Big Deals" I believe sometime around August, 2011. They came and installed a fixture box in the ceiling of our porch so that we could mount a new light. There was no box present for the old porch light! I had intended that the existing wiring be replaced. They advised that the wiring (armored cable with cloth-covered wiring) was OK to reuse and mentioned that it would be a big mess to try and pull new wiring between the switch indoors and the external light location on the porch. So, they mounted a new box and left things ready for me to mount our new light fixture, once it arrived.

Description of Work: I called Mark because he did work in my horse barn and I was pretty happy except for the fact that he always complained about me not allowing him into horse stalls without myself or my husband present. He was very annoyed with me but I let it slide because he was doing a good job at the time. I called him back because I needed more outlets installed inside and outside the barn as well as get a quote for my new barn that is going to be built this summer. I must have left four or five messages and heard nothing back which was unusual as he always returned my calls in the past. So finally I left a message asking him to at least tell me if he doesn’t want to do the job than I will find someone else. So he called me back and said that I yelled at him and therefore and that he doesn’t want to do work for me. I was in a total shock because no one yelled at him and he was there on his own majority of the time unless he needed to get into horse’s stalls. This man made stuff up for whatever reason. I still cannot understand why he said that or if he mixed me up with someone else. He was very rude to me on the phone and made it sound like I beat him over the head when he was here. Then why in the world did he spend 4 days doing the job for $1500? I gave him great review and even left out the fact that he was annoyed with my horses and was actually rude at times himself. But I will say one thing for sure I will NEVER use him again nor recommend him to anyone I know. That is totally unprofessional and unacceptable. I made 4-5 calls until he finally decided to call me back just to say that to me. I gave him a chance to apologize but he instead got ruder on the phone so I will never use him again.

+ -1 moreI called Advantage - they were out that afternoon and did some analysis. Somewhere on that cricuit something was happening to create a short circuit,) NExt day they were back and spent most of the day (I told them to stop for at least a 20 minute lunch break) taking apart each switch, light, and receptacle to test to determine where the problem was occurring. Finally found it as some old wiring in the dining room wall had worn -- they showed me the bad wiring and the meltied burned wire. The problem was then - "can we somehow fish new wire through the existing conduit or would new conduit need to be installed (the latter a costly and messy project.) So they worked at fishing new wire and with extreme difficulty managed to use the existing conduit. Thanks guys for that because I really didn't want to tear up the wall and floor to replace the conduit.All in all, for an emergency call and then a full day of work - total 10 hours - a $650.00 charge to me was very very reasonable, I would use this firm again and again and again. They were great. Took the time time explain the problems and gave make some estimates and options on what to do about them.
Description of Work: When I came back from a long holiday I found that none of the lights or receptacles worked in 3 rooms of my house (all on the same circuit) and that the circuit breaker switch did not re-set.

He hesitated to do something that would be against code but found part that made it legal, and he was able to do it. He was going to walk away if it wasn't able to be properly done and I appreciate that.

+ -1 moreI gave Mark at Advantage Electric an opportunity to estimate the above mentioned work based on reports from other members. He came out for the estimate appointment and patiently listened to what I wanted and answered my questions. Mark is pleasant and a down-to earth guy. His estimate was reasonable to me and I hired him to do the job. He was a bit busy with other work, so it took a couple weeks for him to get to me, but I wasn't in a big hurry. He installed the new panel on one day and did the re-wiring the following week. He arrived promptly both times. Being an engineer, I can be picky when it comes to quality, but the work was done well and he cleaned up after himself. Both days he was in our house unattended since both myself and my wife had to go to work. He proved to be trustworthy and even didn't mind our beagle having run of the place while he was working. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Install a new 30 position circuit breaker panel to replace a 24 year old 14 position panel that was full and overloaded. Also, had some new conduit runs and re-wiring done to better load balance the branch circuits.
