They showed up on time, were quick, professional, and clean. They said the exterior top of the chimney and its cap needed work, tuckpointing and etc. We're getting other estimates for that since it's major $$$. But an outfit that gave a second opinion on the exterior work commented that the chimney interior was clean.

They were very nice and explained everything while showing pictures as they went.

Seriously, I'm so impressed right now. For a minimal fee, James and Brandon thoroughly checked out my fireplace and home ventilation on a new condo I purchased last summer. There were some repairs suggested on the chase collar that will have to wait for a bit, but they explained everything else and took the time to teach me how to to work everything safely and efficiently. They were extremely professional and polite, and obviously were more concerned with maintaining their excellent reputation and getting referrals and repeat business than profiting off my inspection. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone.

The guys were very punctual and called ahead. They were efficient and kept me informed of what and why they were inspecting. They offered me a few options of what should be done and in what priority. I will be contacting them for our yearly sweep and inspection.

The chimney sweep was wonderful, no problem there. I understand he had to do the inspection and all but what he actually had to do didn't take him 20 minutes and it was over $1200. It seems like criminal, but I don't know, they probably will explain to you how it was a reasonable price and all. Don't you think that's a lot of money just for 20 minutes work? They just sprayed some stuff on it. I know we had to pay two guys to drive up here with their equipment and all, but that's a bit much for it. And it was apart from what I paid for the chimney sweep. Actually, they were courteous and they didn't give me a hard time, they didn't cause me no problems, they didn't threaten me, they were very polite. They have some kind of seal they put on the chimney and they gave me a quote. The price there was like somewhere in the $900 range and they sprayed some stuff on there. When he gave me the quote, it was just for the top part. They did a good job on the chimney, as far as I can tell. It's hard to tell what the quality is after it's been put up but the guy did say there's a ten year warranty on it. Everything was great, the only thing I was upset about was the price.

He and did a wonderful job as he thought we had a different style of fireplace when he came out to our place. But, seeing that it was not what he thought it would be, he just went ahead, examined the whole thing, figured it out, and quickly serviced the unit. He even painted the black areas that looked a bit grayish and unattractive! The fire is dancing away in the fireplace as I write this on a cold winter day. We were very pleased!

The two man crew were on time and very polite. They quickly did the inspection and cleaning and were able to start and complete the repairs within an hour.

We had them quote on duct cleaning for the entire building as well, since one of the techs was their "duct expert." Lead Tech "Will" and his Asst. "Chris" were clearly expert, and responsive. It really surprised me to find that A-1 does large-scale institutional and specialty work (such as chimney rebuilds, masonry repair, and liners) as well... I thought they were just a residential-type firm. They spent added time on site for almost an hour and a half, assuring we got some other possible work scoped out and then providing a prompt proposal. Clearly, we'll be doing more with A-1!

After the normal chimney sweep and inspection, they found some additional poblems, but quoted a large sum. So, we ended up getting additional quotes and going with someone else. My husband interacted with them a little bit more than me. They seemed to do a fine job, but their pricing was off.

It was fine except that I discovered that my chimney needs new liners so I had to tell my tenants not to use the fireplaces. The cleaning was fine. They did a great job. It was clean, neat, and orderly. They were on time. I was very happy with the cleaning part of the service. I was disappointed that it's going to need chimney repair, but that's not their fault. I have used them before and I was happy with the service at that time too.

Recommended substantial repairs. Requested photos of chimney to substantiate opinion and cost. Photos were never provided. We hired another company to inspect chimney and fireplace and repair at a substantially reduced cost.

They seem to be very good, just a little pricey. For me, fireplaces and the potential of danger justifies a little extra investment to keep it functioning smoothly.

They where great. I would highly recommended. Took multiple picture before they began the work to show me what was the issue and again when complete.

Had some scheduling issues due to weather, which is expected. Looks like they did a good job. Took pictures of the inspection, were friendly and courteous.

THE MEN WERE EXCELLENT. VACUMMED UP AT THE END. I WILL DEFINTELY USE THEN AGAIN

Mike P determined that the chimney was not safe, that the fireplace should not be used and agreed there would be no point in cleaning.

A-1 did a great job. They provided me with a detailed list of everything they found along with photographs and an estimate good for 30 days. We elected to have them come back and repair the 3 most critical issues and will schedule the remaining issues with them next summer.

Our hot button with any provider is communication. This company gets a top rating - from a timely response to my message to them on Angie's List, to returning phone calls, to calling with ETA's, I appreciated their respect for our time. They performed the services in a clean and professional manner. The technicians, James and Brandon, used booties in the house and were so careful that they did not leave a speck of ash or dust anywhere. We could also see the care they took to not nick the walls with their big pieces of equipment. Add-on services were not pushed on us as I have experienced with a few other companies. There was one maintenance point that they suggested we revisit next year. The price was reasonable because we purchased a Big Deal for this service.

It went well. He came in and cleaned the chimney and explained things that need to be repaired. He gave me an estimate for the suggested repairs. He was very professional and cleaned up after himself. It was a good experience.

They made me wait to get scheduled for about a month and a half. When the time finally came, they called to confirm that they were sending someone out between 12-4. I called back to confirm, and was told that they would come out to give an estimate, and if time allowed, then they would do some of the work....but probably not. I was incredulous, and they told me that I didn't read the fine print. I said that I didn't need an estimate, I just wanted the amount of value I'd paid for. I told them that I expected them to show up and work. She got a supervisor, and they asked me if I expected them to block off an afternoon for them, then told me that they were in business to make money. I told him that they needed to send someone out to do the work tomorrow, and they said they couldn't guarantee it. I hung up. Id rate them lower than an "F" if I could. It was a rip-off. BUYER BEWARE!!

I highly recommend A1! The servicemen were professional and on time. They clearly explained the process and took the time to help us understand how to use our fireplace, since we have never owned a home with a wood burning fireplace.

I had scheduled a day and time for the chimney A-1 to come out to clean our chimney. They called two days prior to say they were not going to be in our town that day. I was in the car driving when they called. i was greatly disappointed due to I had put the day aside to be home for them. So in the end I did not get the service and just now I rescheduled with a phone person at Angies List. It was recommended that we go with another company. All is set up now with another company. Susan
