Work was done quickly, professionally, and cleanly.

They got our fireplace back to safe working conditions. While it was more money than we had budgeted, it is safe and fixed at a lower cost than replacing the entire unit in a year or two. We are however waiting for the photos they took.

Everything went well. Anthony and Marcos were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The price for the cleaning and inspection was a special and was great. The price for the refurbishment was a little more than I expected; however, some of the things that I learned from Anthony that will make the fireplace more enjoyable made up for it. I've been in this house for over 14 years and have had the fireplace serviced a few times by other companies, but I was never informed of the things I can do to make it a better experience. The fireplace looks a lot better and puts out more heat. Thanks guys.

Will and his assistant arrived on time. The deal was for an inspection and cleaning of our gas fireplace. However, Will went on the roof while the assistant vacuumed the fireplace. Will said he inspected the chimney and dryer vent as part of their service. After they completed their inspection and cleaning, Will presented a list of $1700 worth of repairs he said were needed...intimating that some problems could be quite serious. He 'offered' to do the repairs right then. We declined his offer. We had purchased our home just a few months ago and had it inspected before purchase. No needed repairs were noted during that inspection. Shortly after they left, we realized that the furnace was no longer running and it was an extremely cold evening after 6:00 pm. We called A-1 and they contacted Will. He took the offensive and said it had to be a coincidence that the furnace stopped running after he was there working. He told us our furnace must have a problem (it is only 2 years old) and advised us to call a furnace company. It turns out that when they were vacuuming, they tripped a circuit breaker that services the furnace. We determined that for ourselves by process of elimination. The service provided by this Angies' Deal seems to be to allow entry to a home in order to find upcharges. We did not like the feel of it and certainly did not like the response when our furnace stopped working. And they left fingerprints all over our fireplace glass doors!

We have a fireplace in our bedroom as well, and there is some ash that I couldn't vacuum out by the fireplace. They said that I could pull it out with a Windex damped cloth. I just got in town, so I haven't had a chance to try it. They were nice, did a great job, and they did end up selling me a chimney protector, so that I wouldn't get squirrels coming down the chimney. They cleaned on the one coupon, but it ended up costing about $800 more. The chimney protector was expensive. It included the protector, and cleaning three chimneys. That's why it cost more. I think it was necessary and I agreed to have them do it. I think they were thoughtful when I called with a question. They were patience. I may have to have someone come out and clean my carpets. They did leave something in the carpet in the bedroom. They did a superb job. I don't want to do anything that would minimize the quality of what they did. I thought the price was good.

Cleaning was great but then told I needed new sand and fireglass. Charged $450.00, now I see on line glass costs under $100 elsewhere. I feel like I got ripped off.

Very efficiently and professionally. They gave recommendations for optional services outside of the pre-paid cleaning but did not push me to do them that day.

Scheduled appointment asap, but still had a 3 week wait. The day of the scheduled service, I was called to say that all service calls were cancelled for the day because of extreme cold weather. I was informed they did not want any service men out in this cold on the roof. I found this puzzling because I have a vent free fireplace, without a chimney. All of the work would have to be done inside. So I had to reschedule. I was insistent that I wanted it fixed before Christmas. So I got the afternoon appointment for Christmas Eve, which was bumped up to morning the day before. The service guys showed up as promised. The set up a tarp to keep my carpet clean. They took off the vents and door to get to the inside. They dismantled the logs and then told me the fireplace is very clean...so they basically "dusted" the inside floor and around the edges. I asked about my problem and they said "everything looks fine." The never actually took a close look at the thermocouple / thermopile. They never used a flashlight to see inside. They never checked the connections nor checked the voltage. Basically, I was told it all "looked good." I mentioned that I bought a voucher, and they said they had it on file. So I asked about the "reconditioning of all the glass work." That basically involved them wiping the glass with a wet paper towel. So all the stains were left on the glass. I asked about the vermiculite, and was informed, there is nothing they do with that. But they gave me a quote for a glass bead replacement of the vermiculite (approx $350). So now, that the fireplace was put back together and it looked like they were getting ready to leave, I asked about the thermapile. So they turned on the fireplace and waited the 10 minutes for it to shut off on its own. They tried it twice and confirmed that I was right and that they would have to replace the entire ignition portion of the fireplace (not just the thermapile.) They never used a flashlight to look inside the fireplace. They never checked the connections or voltage to verify - but I was informed that it is difficult to install and with the cost of the parts, this repair would cost me close to $600. I said thanks, but I need to think about it. That was much more than I anticipated. Well, I didn't need much time to think about the fact that I wasted $135 to have someone come in and dust my fireplace and water wipe down my glass. No diagnostics were ever done. So the answer is "NO" I will not be having them back to put in an entire new ignition. Thanks to the miracle of the internet, I learned how to vacuum all of the intricate electrical parts and connections of the ignition with a micro vacuum cleaner, not an industrial shop-vac. I checked each connection with a volt meter and tightened everything up nicely with a screwdriver, and "Violla" my fireplace works! Thanks, You-Tube!

They work was done and they were very neat.

The communication from the company was excellent. This includes receiving a timely call after I purchased the service, receiving a reminder call, and receiving a call from the technician on the date of service when they were getting close. The technicians were clean, friendly, knowledgeable, prepared, and spoke English. They put on booties when entering the house. They answered my questions thoroughly. The work they did do was of high caliber. The major complaint I have about the service is that they did not remove "old rocks, sand, and vermiculite." Instead, this was sold to me as an upcharge that also included "refurbishment" of my fireplace. The charge was actually reasonable, but the whole issue was that they did not do everything the deal said. Otherwise, I had a pleasant experience. This type of experience has been typical of my dealings with Angieslist. They offer a reasonable special and then the company's technicians try to upsell you on items. I expected the upsell and received good information on something that I might want. These guys were decent, although I am fairly annoyed about the experience.

It became very involved and included two new chimney repairs and cleaning and new fireplace repair and replacement. It went very well, so glad we took advantage of this offer and they did a splendid (although expensive) job; very professional and worthwhile. I must admit it had been many years since our fireplace/chimney had been cleaned/inspected.

Chris & Marcus showed up on time & were detailed in their assessment. I was provided pictures to see the work that needed to be performed & how the same area was fixed after works. The price was more than anticipated but work was more than satisfactory.

it went very well, technician call 30 minutes before their arrival, once they arrived they introduced themselves and got right to work. The inspection went well and the technician made sure to show me what they were seeing. After the inspection there was some work that needed to be done and was suggested. After seeing photographs and discussing with the technician, I choose to have some of the proposed work done. There was no pressure or hard sales pitch, just practical safety and maintenance issues. The work was able to be accomplished during the visit, and in addition an additional discount was provided. The technicians were knowledgeable, professional and did a nice job cleaning up after themselves. I will have them back to do a more thorough masonry inspection in the spring when there is not snow on the roof.
