They were prompt, professional and identified some other issues I had with the Chimney. They credited me for the Angie's List deal I purchased toward the other services.

That worked out really well. They did try to up sell me but that was ok. It seemed like a fair price. They were kind of booked.

Overall, the work went well. Ended up needing additional work done due to a rusting issue on my flutes.

HORRIBLE! They charged over $400.00 and it still doesn't work. They said it would cost me $600.00 more to fix it. I've sent letters demanding a refund and they now just ignore me. I am taking them to small claims court.

Cleaning went well. My fireplace was broken before they came and I wanted to get an estimate on getting it fixed. Unfortunately it involves a lot of work and my wife and I did not want to spend it on this fireplace since it was used to begin with before it was installed in our house. Technicians were very pleasant and explained everything and cleaned up nicely.

I was not present, however my GC said it went pretty well.

John and Mike were professional in manner and neat in their work, and did a super job cleaning the chimney flues and my fireplace. John gave useful suggestions with photos about future work that was needed along with a few minor things that probably should have prompt attention.

Good job on cleaning chimney but a lot of upselling

Well...how it went is still to be determined...Two men came to our home. One did the cleaning while the other performed a evaluation of the fireplaces. What transpired from the inspection was a long list of to do's to make the fireplaces safe and I appreciate that and the suggestions. I would have considered actually doing some of the recommendations but the gentlemen never sent me the pictures that he took and said he would share with me. Follow-up is key and if they promise pictures then they should send them. I am still waiting for the email picture attachments and would still like them? Will they ever come? If I do receive the pictures then I would probably bump the ratings up on this review up a bit.

It's hard for me to validate what they did since most of it was on the roof with the chimney. They were polite but disappeared to their truck and didn't tell me they were writing the report. I went out to their truck to ask what was next. When they re-appeared, they had a list of things they found "wrong." Their prices to fix things seemed very high and they wanted me to jump on it and have them fixed the same day. I don't work that way - I ask several experts and act when I get a consensus as to what's wrong and how to fix it.

They inspected our gas fireplace as we asked them. Gave us good advice.

Things went fine. Did get a bit of pressure to fix things that weren't critical.

They called ahead and were punctual. They had previously needed to cancel an appointment due to a scheduling change and were courteous about changing the date and time. They wore booties in the house and laid down a tarp to collect any dust. They wiped off smudges and completed a thorough inspection inside and outside. They provided pictures and recommended corrections to cracked refractory found. Industry standard repair was made at an affordable price. Very happy with experience and would do business with them again.

The workers first came on a rainy / icy day and our roof was evidently too steep to work on when it might be slick, understandably, they re-scheduled. When the two workers arrived for the job, they re-set the fireplace rocks and gas jets. It looks better than it ever has! They also cleaned the chimney and after taking pictures of the chimney cap (cracked) they convinced me to have it sealed. This took about 15 minutes to complete. Finally they cleaned out the basement clean out bin and vacuumed up everything. The total bill was over $1500. This was a lot but I can't get up on the roof to do these things myself, so I went ahead with the project. Probably should have bid out this work but that's why they offer the special $99 for a cleaning. The workers were pleasant and explained everything fully.

I needed my chimney to be cleaned. The contractor found cracks at the top of the chimney due to its age. Got everything fixed for $800. They were very professional.

Very pleased with the men who did the work and the work that they did. Would definitely recommend them.

As is usually the case, the Angie's List price is never what one really pays. There are always exceptions. The always criticize the work performed in the past. There are always have additional charges or there is a reason why the quoted rate isn't REALLY applicable. I am seriously considering NOT renewing my Angie's List membership. Quote was $139. Actual cost was $698

Pilot Light for gas fireplace worked for years. Decided to turn off the gas supply one summer as it made no sense to have a pilot light burning for a fireplace during the spring and summer months. Would not re-ignite. Two gentlemen from A-1 Safety Chimney came to our home. They were prompt, professional, and quickly diagnosed the problem. They proposed two options to resolve. One was a more simple, less expensive solution ... and the other would have required ordering parts and would have been much more expensive. We went with the less expensive option and they had our gas fireplace back up and running within 20 minutes. Wonderful experience. Would definitely use A-1 again!

Ok. The fireplace logs were vacuumed and put back, no other parts were cleaned or inspected . The roof chimney outlet was inspected and cleaned. I was offered additional services to replace the fireplace wool and cleaning of my dryer vent , but the cost was outrageously high ~$500 so I declined .

On-time, very professional; would use again.
