Description of Work: They inspected and cleaned my son's chimney; I ordered new gas logs from this company, and they will be installing them December 1. I was impressed enough to hire them to clean the chimney in my house.

Description of Work: They cleaned, inspected, and made needed repairs. Taking pictures and showing me every angle of the chimney helps to make the decision easier if you choose to do the repairs.

Description of Work: They showed up in the time frame given & performed the chimney, dryer vent & furnace flue checks in a timely fashion while keeping the house clean. One guy cleaned the chimney flue while the other went outside to check the outside structure of the chimney, the furnace flu & clean out the dryer vent. Digital pictures were taken of the inspection outside to show us where further maintenance was needed. A proposal was given to us to perform the work that day but we chose not to have it done & there was no pressure to do it. The proposal was left with us & we may consider having the work done with this company in spring. We also received the digital pictures via email & received them within the week. | |

Description of Work: I will say that the Chimney Sweep went well. They were on-time and professional. However, I felt like they were trying to up sell me after the inspection for services that may or may not have been warranted.

Description of Work: I am assuming the chimney was swept. What bothered me was the lead guy immediately wanted to know where my furnace, hot water heater, and dryer vent were located. When I questioned why, he said so he could give me an evaluation as to their safety, etc. When I informed him that NICOR had just cleaned and checked my furnace and water heater, he didn't say anything more. Wonder what would have happened if I hadn't told him and he "inspected" them? Then he went into my attic and on to my roof and came up with nearly $1,000 worth of needed safety repairs. The one in my attic ($350) I had repaired for slightly over $50 (including materials and labor). I wonder if things would have been different if there was a man around and I was not obviously a senior citizen?

Description of Work: They cleaned the insert in the fireplace, then cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. They checked the false chimney on the roof and told us it needs repair, so we got an estimate and scheduled the repair for Dec.

Description of Work: Checked Chimney and dryer vent. Chimney needed flashing to be sealed and chase needs to replaced. Can't replace until about 4 weeks due to back up. Took photos of chimney so I could see problem and another photo after he sealed. I liked the photos as I could not go up there myself. Gave me two options to do a quick cheap fix that would last 3-5 years or do the real fix. Gave me estimates on both choices.

Description of Work: The sweep of my chimney went fine for the $99 AL Deal. The quote for additional services (rebuild the firebox $1550 and reinspect chimney lining via video $395) turned out to be exorbitant and largely unnecessary. | |I called a brick mason from AL that did lots of chimney work. He corrected the firebox problems for $400 which include replacing some bricks and remortaring others. He also was able to assure me that the flue lining was in fine shape. He said that he would have done a video inspection for free if he'd have known and brought his inspection equipment. Further he tuckpointed a few cracks on some outside brick columns with the left over mortar.

Description of Work: I bought the Angie deal for $99 dollar chimney sweep and inspection. They were fast and efficient. I knew the chimney needed a new cap and also needed tuckpointing. They put a new cap on during the cleaning visit and scheduled another time to do the tuckpointing. The work was great. They document everything with pictures and explain what they are doing. They were very honest - told me the tuckpointing could wait a little longer if I wanted, but I preferred to get it done now since they still had an October appointment available. Very friendly guys as well. A pleasure to have them here.

Description of Work: Our chimney was leaking into the fireplace. They repaired the concrete, sealed joints at the top of the chimney and caulked the flashing around the chimney. They also replaced our old chimney cap with a new one that has a chain pull that closes off the chimney when the fireplace is not in use. Although we haven't hit real cold weather yet, it is nice to completely close off the fireplace with no drafts.
