When looking to buy my first house, I wanted a Realtor who 1) was willing to work with a first-time homebuyer, 2) represented buyers in about half of her business relationships and represented sellers in the other half, and 3) was very experienced in buying and selling property in my target neighborhood. I walked into the Realty Central office because it was in a convenient location. When I inquired about a Realtor who met the three criteria listed above, Cheryl, who was working at the desk, identified two Realtors. One of the two happened to be sitting right there at the time and said ?Oh, give this one to Debbie.? I was impressed with the level of collegiality in the Realty Central office. This was different from the competitive vibe I had sensed while visiting another realty office. They were genuinely interested in matching me with the best Realtor for my specific needs. Debbie Michalesko gave me references of three recent home buyers. I checked references, as well as a list of properties bought and sold in the past year and was very satisfied with what I found. When I met with Debbie for the first time, I gave her a prioritized list of what I wanted in a property. She showed me MLS listings, and we visited three properties. It was obvious which one best met my criteria. By the end of that first meeting, Debbie had helped me put in a bid on the property. About ten weeks later I closed on the property. Throughout the process I could count on Debbie for reasonable advice for working through the details. She explained realty practices clearly and answered my many questions. She was very attentive to deadlines and details of paperwork and coordinated with my lender. At the same time she was very respectful of my desire to arrange some things, such as property inspections, independent from her involvement. She has lived in this area for a long time and seemed very well-connected. When we needed to consult a general contractor, she was able to guide me to one who was excellent. Likewise, she passed on information to me about a little-known local grant for which I qualified by buying this particular property. My initial impression of the level of collegiality in the office also continued. On the rare occasions when Debbie was not available, someone else in the office stepped in to help me. It has been about eight months since I closed on the property, and I am still very satisfied with my experience. I believe that the price I paid for the property was fair and that I had enough information about the general condition of the property before I bought it.
