We contacted them to design/build a new home for us. After several revisions to the floor plan, it was obvious they were not listening to what we were telling them we wanted. In addition, we wanted to use a cement board siding on the exterior and they told us we would have to find our own source for purchase/installation of the siding since they were not familiar with this type of siding and primarily only installed vinyl siding. When we received the proposal for the new construction, it was a 'bottom line' number without any breakout as to materials, labor, etc. We asked them to provide a cost breakout so we could see where our money was going (since the proposal was well over $200,000 - NOT including exterior siding/installation). Despite asking for the breakout several times and never receiving it, we decided to go with a "stick built" contractor, which ended up costing us less, getting EXACTLY what we wanted and included the exterior siding installation. It made us very uncomfortable when a company was not willing to not provide a cost breakdown on a big project like a new home. It made us feel like they may be hiding something.
