Next Door & Window

Upon coming to an agreement with the Next salesman, some time passed before there was much in the way of follow up. I knew there would be time for the doors to be ordered and manufactured. After a few weeks had passed, I called to inquire about the status, and was told the doors were ready for installation. Someone would be contacting me to set up the installation. Again, I waited about a week and had not heard from anyone, so I called in. I was able to then schedule the installation. From that point forward, it was completely smooth sailing. On the day of installation, the workers showed up on time. They explained everything they would be doing and kept me updated throughout the day. They were very friendly, very courteous, and very professional. It was obvious that they were skilled craftsman. Ours is a very old house, so the installation took some creativity and care. They finished on schedule, and took great care to clean up after themselves. The doors look and operate perfectly. I am very satisfied and would recommend their work.

After examining our window, Roberto gave us a few options. What impressed us so much was that instead of trying to make a sale, he was very honest with us and suggesed the best way to repair the window that was in our best interest. Although we didn't buy a window from him, we would highly recommend their company. Integrity is hard to find these days.

Mike gave an excellent presentation as well as a tour of their showroom and window warehouse and pre-installation prep area. The quote on the product line that we selected was higher than our budget permitted. Upon review of the proposal I emailed my response, inquired about any financing options and requested a review of the original proposal to look for some cost saving measures or perhaps get a quote on a different product line. Since they handle multi venders I thought that one might be more economical than the other. It was alluded that they would all be very close in total cost. No additional quotes were provided so I looked elsewhere for other alternatives.

I had accidentally popped out the screen and they came out for free and fixed it. They also came out for free and fixed another issue in the Spring. Kudos to Next Door and Window!

I recommend them highly. They delivered what they promised. When there were parts that I was not happy with, they were very responsive in coming out and fixing that. That is the main thing about them, coming back and making the repair.

It was an excellent job. They were on time, everything was as they promised. We compare prices with three other window companies, including Costco and we found next to be the most competitive. The real purpose of this review, is to comment about one of the salesman Ron Carson. Ron was our initial salesman when we had our windows installed late last year. We told Ron that this would be the first shot at replacing the windows in our home. We had Ron come back last week to take a look at other windows that we thought should be replaced. Ron in his diligent manner, walked throughout our house inside and out, with my wife, and inspected all of the remaining windows that had not been replaced. The conclusion was that we did not need to replace any of the remaining windows. So Ron told us, if you want to spend money will take it, but this is not a necessary expenditure on your part your windows are fine. There are a lot of salespeople out there who would have done what we asked them to do, which was replace the windows. What Ron did was treatise as true customers, not as a cash machine. There are very few companies today that I believe will offer the kind of service that we received from Next Windows. I would strongly recommend that anyone looking for window replacements consider Next Windows as one of the companies they should entertain bids from. I don't believe you can go wrong with them.

Called Arlington Heights location; talked to Mike. He came out to show brochures; talk about different doors and quality. We picked a doors, glass, colors, hardware He measured the doors. We agreed to contract. A few days later, someone came out to remeasure. We hesitated about our decisions, so we went to ARl Hts. showroom to choose a different entry and sidelights, and hardware on all doors. . It was no problem. even though it took about an hour to come to our new decision. Mike was patient and helpful the entire time, even though he began a lunch break. Mike re-calculated the costs. About eight weeks later, a team of three came out to install the doors. They also keyed the doors to the other entry doors in our house, so we wouldn't be faced with so many different keys. They were polite, friendly, and personable. When they got to the back storm, they discovered the dimensions were incorrect because of our change in hardware. Because they needed to order a new door in a different size, it took 6 more weeks. The service man came out to install the back storm. Someone didn't check the order and resent the first door of the wrong size. So he had to wait one hour until the correct door was delivered. He installed it, cleaned up, and presented me with the balance due. In both visits, the installers put down tarps and cardboard. In the first case because it had recently snowed, one of the installers even washed the foyer floor after vacuuming the saw dust. in all cases, this company was wonderful to work with.

Very professional and response. Courteous and honest which is a rare thing these days in business.

They came; they measured; came back and installed the door and rebuilt the surrounding frame & threshold on one of the hottest days of the summer. Excellent job.

They called a week before installation and set up the time of the installation. They arrived on time, covered everything in the room and removed the windows. They replaced them. They were punctual, explained what they were doing and provided the service in a very professional manner. They were finished, including cleaning up in 5 1/2 hours. The sales person Pete, "SKI" was extremely helpful in helping us decide on the windows we needed to purchase. This is the third time we have used them, excellent service.

They were good. They came in, they did the job in the amount of time they said they would be, and they cleaned up after themselves. They did what they said they would do, and I like the windows. Their stuff was good, it was a little expensive.

Next Door & Window did an awesome job from start to finish! I most impressed with the actual install which was completely with total quality work. The installer did not rush to finish the job, which was so refreshing to see, but rather took his time and did the job correctly. I would certainly use Next Door & Window again as well as recommend them to anyone.

They quoted me for about $65000. So far, it's been good. The representative came out and worked with us. We went through a variety of different combinations. We got what we wanted.

Next Door was the first of several companies I contacted for a custom storm door. The salesperson arrived on time and was very neat and courteous. He showed me several brochures. He quoted me a range of $895 - $1,500 for a custom storm door and installation. Well, it turns out the next company quoted me $495 for the SAME DOOR that Next quoted me for $895. It was the same brochure with the same options just with the second company's logo. Definitely shop around if you contact Next.

I worked initially with Mike B at the Naperville showroom and looked at several models of windows. A few days later, Mike G came to the house to take measurements and provided an initial estimate. I went back to the showroom to take a closer look at the models and asked a few more questions. I scheduled an meeting with Mike G to change a few items on the estimate and provided the downpayment. I was contacted about a month later to bring in (to the Burr Ridge main office) the paint our townhome association requires on exterior trim. A little over a week later I was contacted to schedule the installation date. The installation was subcontracted to MVR Construction Group Inc (possibly because of the glass block windows not being one of Next's normally installed items). The installation took 3 days and involved removal of the 40+ year old windows/doors, full frame replacement, updated insulation, and replacement wood trim to meet association specifications. (No metal trim allowed) Neighbors who observed the installation process commented about the thoroughness of the installation process and the cleanup that was done every day.

Salesman Kurt came to my home and explained the company and windows in great detail. He then did all the measuring and said it would take a couple of days to work up the price. We agreed I would meet him in at the Arlington Heights showroom to go over pricing in detail. I would also then be able to see the windows and doors in person. That was fine with me. Met at the showroom and he went over the prices, Kurt gave me the price which I was very surprised about. I explained that the price was over my budget and I would only be able to replace some of the windows. He then asked me what I would like to pay, and would call his manger. Kurt called his manager and they came up with another price. There would also be a lower price if I paid cash. What I did not appreciate was being asked several times questions like, are we close to what you wanted to spend, What number should we be at, calling his manger to get a lower price. I really started feeling like I was at a car dealership. No one other company has ever played this kind of pricing game with me. I got pricing from a total of four companies, and Next Door & Window was by far the highest of all the companies. Higher by several thousand dollars! I am going with another company and having all the windows I wanted to have replaced, for a lower price then this company. It was another company I found on Angie's List...so thank goodness for them. So I would suggest doing a lot of research and pricing before signing.

Requested a quote, got a response very quickly for an appointment. The representative showed up on time, thoroughly explained the products, options, and prices. The designated project manager maintained contact, and the installation was done on the date and time promised. The installers were careful, professional and efficient, and they cleaned up very thoroughly. And the door looks good. Definitely be willing to use them again.

Went to their new showroom in Arlington Heights September 2013 and after looking at the various styles we asked for an estimate, + or - 10 percent of what the actual quote should be. Received an estimate of $8400. When we got the actual quote in April 2014 we added about $500 of extras for foot locks, etc., , but the quote we received was over 30 percent above the previous estimate at over $12,000. Apparently they had plenty of business as they would not adjust their quote at all, saying Marvin had raised their price. We didn't buy that so we used our budgeted money for the replacement doors on another project. The sale person, Ron Carlson, was very polite, knowledgeable, and professional. Just wish he would have quoted closer to the + or - estimate limitations.

I called Next upon referral from a family member. I was actually quite impressed with the professionalism of the person who came out for the estimate. But - he told me that my patio door was a custom size and would therefore be a little more expensive. I thought this was strange since I live in a modest townhome where nothing is "custom". He also included replacement of the trim/molding around the windows and door in the quote. I asked him whether it would be possible not to replace the trim, but he discouraged this. When another company came out for an estimate, they told me the patio door was a standard size. When I expressed my confusion, he said, "You know, you're the 3rd customer this month that has told me that another company said their patio door was a custom size. I think it's Next Window & Door." Also, there was no trouble keeping the trim. Needless to say, I did not go with Next.

They are going to start in 6-10 weeks. Our point person was one of owners. He's great! He's super informative, knows his product very well, and is very considerate of our needs. He helped me figure out what we could do within our price range in order to get the maximum quality.

Installers Mike and Kevin were prompt, efficient, professional, and friendly. They did a very nice job and cleaned up the job site very thoroughly. They even had the storm doors keyed together. They went above and beyond in several instances, particularly with their aesthetically pleasing touches. Our salesperson, Ski, was equally excellent. We are pleased with our new doors.

It was pretty good. They came early and they stayed late. They were very diligent and real craftsmen.

We initially went to their showroom and looked around of some of the product options. They then sent an estimator out to take a look at our house, work with us on options and get a quote. Their quote was similar to others for similar products. We went with them in the end because we had a strong referral from family. When our windows arrived, they were installed over a two day period. The workers left everything pretty clean. We did have a couple of issues with the windows. One of the windows was backwards from what it should have been. Next worked with us to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution. We also had an issue with some of the staining Next did - it wasn't consistent. We did alert Next of this, but they did not follow up as promised. We have blinds that end up covering the area so I have not pressed it further. However, on a purchase of this size, I would expect extremely thorough customer service.
