From the start Next Door and window was prompt and professional. They listened to our needs and provided options. They were extremely neat and detail oriented when installing the door. They are a bit pricey, but the cost is worth it. The installation is just as important as the quality of the door.

They were excellent! They were a little more pricy than other companies, but with the service and workmanship they delivered, it was well worth it. It was wonderful to work with them.

We have never worked with a finer company! They were punctual for every visit, from the estimate to the final measurement to the final installation. When they said they'd be there they certainly were. We've never seen that with anyone we've worked with previously. During the initial visit Pete was extremely thorough with his review of our situation and his measurements and recommendations as to which door to choose. Their price was very competitive and complete with no surprises and a thorough explanation of all costs quoted. The door arrived in the time frame that Pete stated and installation was arranged immediately. The installation was meticulous. Fred the installer was on time and after he introduced himself said he welcomed me to watch and ask any questions that I had as he moved through the installation process. He was so careful that he even laid a piece of wood under his truck so that no oil would leak on our driveway from his truck. He made sure that the door fit and took the extra effort to insure that it did. I got the feeling that he was treating our install as if he were installing it in his own home. He explained why he was doing certain things as he went along and was eager to answer any question that I had. Upon completion Fred made sure that every piece of debris was removed along with our old door. He mentioned that we should always feel free to contact them with any questions or problems that we might encounter. We were extremely satisfied with our experience and will be using them next spring for additional home improvements. We cannot say enough about this experience---it was outstanding from start to finish.

I found the company through Angie's List. A representative for the company came to my house for an estimate in early May, the order was placed with the manufacturer, and the six windows and two sliding doors were installed over three days. The application for the approval of my condominium associated was promptly submitted by sales representative. All of the schedules outlined by the sales representative were completed on time; actually the windows were delivered by the manufacturer sooner than estimated. Everyone was very polite and to my untrained eye they seemed to do an excellent job installing the windows and doors, and removed all the waste. I am very pleased with the result.

I found them on Angie's list. They were fabulous and cleaned up everything. They were the best. We are planning to purchase a door from them soon also.

Next Door and Window exceeded my expectations from start to finish. We set out to get 4 (what we thought were) "competitive" bids on this somewhat extensive project and after Dan the Sales Representative came in to speak with us there really was no competition. Dan actually had a true consultative, no hassle approach to helping us find the best, most economic windows for our needs. His pricing was right in line and he actually stopped in twice during the installation process to see how things were going and to thank us. As far as the installation goes I couldn't be happier. Peter and Casey took their time, explained what they were doing and were extremely neat and clean. The owner even called me to thank me for my business!!! The finished windows look great!! These guys are the best!!

We first met Ron Burns last Fall at a Home Improvement show. At the time we were just starting to think about replacing our windows but had not yet decided when we would do it. Ron spent a lot of time showing us all the different window options available. This Spring we decided to go ahead with the project and stopped into their store in Naperville. John was very helpful. Since we were interested in Marvin Windows, he explained in detail everything available and how the entire installation would work. He then set up an appointment for Ron to come to our house to look at our current windows/patio door. Ron arrived as scheduled, measured everything and discussed what options we wanted. He set up an appointment to come back out with an estimate for the work. He again arrived on time and the estimate was better than others we had received so we decided to go ahead with the project. Since all our windows needed to be custom sized, we were told it would be about 10 weeks before installation. We were kept updated on the entire process and were told that Marvin was going to have the windows available ahead of schedule. Once they arrived at Next Door & Window, they completely stained the wood interior of the windows to exactly match our current trim. An installation date was scheduled. Frank and his team arrived ahead of time and started working immediately. They were very courteous and went about their work quickly and efficiently. The patio door was installed by Carl that same day. He did a wonderful job and was finished in a few hours. He cleaned all the glass and any debris left inside and out. Also showed us the special features of the door. Since we had so many windows being installed, it was a two day job. At the end of day one, Frank and his team cleaned up everything inside the house. On day two, they again arrived ahead of schedule and continued installing the windows. They did an absolutely beautiful job. The windows are fantastic and there was nothing for us to clean up. They handled everything and cleaned all the windows inside and out. When they left, you would never know they had been here working for two days. We had a great experience working with this company and we would highly recommend them.

Mr. & Ms <name>, I wish you would of given me half a chance, because I was hoping to meet with both of you in person and be able to go over thoroughly our installation procedures, quality controls ,advance materials and possible discounts as well as other options that were available to you, I would think most people would like to know all their options. How the window installation process actually works. But I had a feeling this was not going to be the case when I did not get any return phone calls after the estimate was emailed as requested. Usually when the decision maker does not want to meet in person and in a RUSH for just the estimate, They have usually already made up their mind on the lowest estimate they have. Not knowing how and why the estimate is the cheapest. I hope this was not the case. The reason you lost our business was not due to the cost of your estimate - it was reasonable. You lost our business because of your extreme unprofessionalism, as further evidenced by this e-mail. As far as giving you "half a chance", we gave you the exact same chance as the other two contractors. They were able to provide us with their best estimate in a very reasonable amount of time without the heavy sales pitch. As you may have noticed during your visit to our home, we have a one-year old and two-year old that keep us very busy. Therefore, scheduling another in-home meeting with you was not desirable nor was it necessary. As I stated before, the other contractors were able to provide estimates with only one visit to our home. As far as how the installation process works, we have a very clear understanding and needed no further explanation from you. We gave you a whole week to provide us with an estimate - more than enough time considering others provided us with estimates on the next day. In fact, your visit was the first one that we scheduled. So you were not "rushed" as you stated. Also, you called my office because you were having trouble e-mailing the estimate. When I repeated the e-mail address, you said, "Why would she give me the wrong e-mail address?" referring to my wife. As I explained, she did not give you the wrong e-mail address, you had just omitted the first part of it. But I thought it was very strange that you would make that comment in the first place. Bottom line, you lost our business because you were rude and extremely unprofessional. I am going to post your e-mail along with my response on Angie's List so that hopefully others can avoid the unpleasant experience of dealing with you.

Initially, Pete "Ski" did an excellent job in explaining our options for selecting the door and understanding what we wanted. He even saved us some money by offering to reuse the existing lock and handle that we had (since it was newer) and keyed the dead-bolt the same. He provided a timeline of ordering, receipt and installation and in the end everything was completed well before the anticpated schedule. Frank, who installed the door, was on time, efficient, organized and exceptionally clean. One of the company owner's even called and left a personal follow up message with his direct phone number. This company did an outstanding job from start to finish. We will be contacting them again when we are ready to install windows and doors in other areas of our home. We looked and compared lots of different replacement windows and looked at vinyl, wood, and fiberglass. Also looked at several different manufacturers and installers and decided on Marvin Infinity Fiberglass as best option for us. We talked to Next at both the store in Naperville and later when they came to our house to measure and provide an estimate. They were very responsive to our questions and needs. Once we decided on the Marvin windows, we negotiated the price and Next came in with a very good deal. The installation went very well, with no complaints. The crew of 5-6 people completed the project in two days. I was satisfied with the installation and clean-up. In a few days, they had two painters come over and touch up the nail holes and the interior trim. I was very satisfied with the job that Next did for us.

Definitely not impressed by the 2010 SUPER SERVICE AWARDED company. As a member of Angie's list I try to go off of the information not only in the reviews but as well as other information. I.E. number of years in business, are they insured, any complaints on BBB etc... Even though I know companies pay to be part of the BBB any complaint on file would either have a solution or an open claim. This company met most of the qualities I was looking for and decided to viisit their Naperville showroom. I had the opportunity to interact with Alicia (store mgr) and Scott (sales representative) both seemed nice and they answered all our questions. Shortly after speaking with Scott about the quality of an Anderson vs ProVia doors we decided to set up an appt for a home visit to get a more accurate estimate. We sat down with Alicia whom gathered all of our contact information and we agreed for the homevisit to take place on 10-12 at 5:30. I requested to leave work a little early in order to be there on time and was disappointed that Scott was late. After waiting 30 minutes I called the Naperville office and spoke with Mike S. who apologized for the tardiness and explained that if a rep is running late they normally call to inform the customer. They track down our rep who said he didn't have the number on file which is odd because I literally saw Alicia take it down and she even repeated the number back to me. However, I gave them the benefit of doubt. Scott finally made it to the appointment and once again answered our many questions regarding the Provia and Anderson door. We finally decided to go with Scott's recommendation and we place a 30% down payment on the door. Per Scott he explained that the company does a remeasure of the door to insure that all measurements are correct. I asked how long it would take for the remeasurement to take place he confirmed usually within a week. On October 18th I call to inquire about the status of the remeasurement appointment because I was not contacted and I was getting concerned because October 19th would have been a week since Scott came out to our home. I spoke with Mike S again who gave me the excuse that he just got the file that day.. However, we did schedule the appointment for Ocober 20th between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Thankfully the remeasurement person Sam was on time. He took pics of the door and he explained that once the door is ordered and received someone from the office will call to set up an appt for installation. After all that I gone through thus far I decide to call the Naperville Office again 2 weeks after the remeasurement date to confirm the door was ordered and possible eta on installation. The woman I spoke with rather rudely said that it was too early for me to call about the door. I explained to her that given my previous experience already with the company it seems that nothing gets done unless I call to check on the status. Unfortunately, she insisted that it was too early to inquire about the door and wouldn't even check if it was ordered. Subsequently, I call the week of November 21st Scott the sales rep picked up the line who said that they had the door and it's ready for installation. He said someone would be calling me but I guess decided to transfer me over to Mike S again who set the appointment up for installation on November 28th. Sam the installer came to install the door in the morning he was again came in time however another issue arose when I discovered that the deadbolt did not come with the door that was ordered. Apparently who ever placed the order did not do it properly which meant the company had to come back to our home again just to install the deadbolt. Had anyone bothered to take care of my call earlier perhaps this could have been avoided. Another call was made that day and again I spoke with Mike S who apologized for the mix up and said they would have to order the part and then call me back to set up an appointment for final installation of the deadbolt. (Estimated time frame a week or two). Given that the missing deadbolt was an error on their part they agreed to accept final payment the same day they complete the order. A few hours later I received a call from Mike S again who said they happened to have a deadbolt in their office and could schedule an appt for the Saturday, Dec 3rd for installation. After setting up the appointment for the installation of the deadbolt to take place Dec 3rd someone called me on Friday to ask to reschedule for Monday with another excuse why they couldn't come in on Sat. I explained that I had already taken time off 3 times for this whole process to be completed and cannot accommodate his request. He then agreed to come at the scheduled time they had previously set. DEC 3rd A different installer came--not Sam-- who was nice but was a little less professional than Sam. He did not come prepared with a vacuum cleaner like Sam did when he installed the door. Lack of communication, organization and proper customer service were the reasons why this was an unpleasant experience. The only two that listened were Mike and Sam and for that I thank them. However, a company is composed of more than 2 individuals. Shortly thereafter I did begin to receive calls from the company, "following up" on the installation but their concern came a little too late.

The owner is an incredibly nice man, who is full of information. He was patient, and I was really impressed by his willingness to answer my questions. Overall, working with Next Door and Window was a pleasure. The project went smoothly, and our project manager had a lot to do with that. If we ever need to purchase new windows again, I’ll definitely go back to them.

I was looking to replace my front entry door and storm door. I stopped in the Next Door & Window store in Naperville to see what their selections were. I spoke with Mike Brown about my concerns, wants, needs, and questions and he listened carefully to all and recommended two different brands. After another meeting at my home to measure and pick out colors, I went with the Albany Entry Door with two panes off glass in the door and with one sidelight and a Provia Storm Door. The Provia Storm Door was selected because the self hiding screen would not cut the view from the panes of glass in the entry door. (The bar between the glass and screen sets lower than most storm doors so it doesn't cut into the view of the windows set in the entry door.) As I was waiting for the doors to be installed, I started having doubts about the color. I stopped in the store and the associates were very willing to show me the different colors of the two doors and with confidence, I finally settled on the colors. I wanted to make sure that the entry door, storm door, and trim all blended into one another. The installer was scheduled and came on time. He was courteous and professional. He installed both doors and trim, both inside and out. The doors look fantastic. I am so satisfied with the doors and the work done to install them. My only regret is that I waited so long to replace them.

They are very thorough, and I thought they were very honest about the different types of windows and doors. Once I decided I wanted to have them come out to take measurements, they were out within 48 hours. They said the turn around on the door would be six weeks, and it was a little less than that which was nice. The blind setter between the window panels needs to be replaced. It was a manufactor error, and they are replacing that shortly.

Overall the entire process went fairly smoothly. One week after the contract was signed I did have to contact the company to find out if and when the product had been ordered. After that glitch, I made sure they knew that I expected excellent and timely communication and, except for that initial mix-up, they delivered 100%.

UPDATE: An owner called me today 11/14/11 based on this review. It looks like a misunderstanding between myself and the salesman. I could see where we got the process crossed. I'm very pleased to see that they respond to reviews. Very professional. They take ratings serious and it shows. Even if I don't go with them, I have to change my ratings based on their professionalism. If I do go with them, I'll update again based on the work. From my original review of C (below) to an A. Didn't go with them. I'm actually still shopping. I wanted Marvin's so I went into the showroom. Nice people, was happy there. Asked about finance options, said the salesman that comes to the home would provide that. Why? I wish they would have told me what the finance options were there at the showroom. Anyway, I agreed. The home visit was, "ok". There was no high pitch sell. Just down to business. I like that, but would have liked to have heard a little about the company and really study the options. I had to essentially ask a lot of questions that would normally be in a presentation. So, I was still fine w/ this. We got down to the financing and the numbers didn't really work out interest wise. The salesman stated that they could do better and work something out and he'd call me back. I investigated Home Equity options. Anyway, 2 to 3 weeks later he got back to me. We talked and got to a couple of options. A discounted rate if I don't use financing and the interest rate if I do use financing. I knew the price and the interest rate, but not the reduced price if I payed myself without financing. He said that he'd discuss it and get back to me later in the week. Well, it's now November and nothing. I figure that if they don't call, they don't want my business. So I've called in other companies. I'm really disappointed because I live in the area and heard good things, but my job just seemed unimportant. So, move on. Plenty of other companies.

He came out and was punctual. He promised me the estimates. I had to call him three days later and he didn't have it all worked out yet. I then had to call him back several times and he continuously told me that "he was very busy." If I have to ask multiple times for an estimate and they are too busy, then I do not need to do business with them. One week later they called to do a follow up with me, however, I had already signed with someone else.

We are looking for 2 new doors and 21 windows. The sales person measured all the windows and doors and we looked at different options. He was able to provide a ball park quote during the time he was there at the house, which was nice. The reason why we opted to go with another company was because we didn't have a good match with what window products they were recommending to us vs. what we needed. For example, they recommended a window brand that our relatives have had problems with in the past, and we didn't want to buy them. This window was in our price range, but then we asked for other options and the next one that was recommended was going to cost about $5,000 more. I'm not sure if these 2 windows were the "preferred" ones chosen by the company to promote or it was maybe just an error in that we needed to find a better fit with the product. We did get a quote for the doors which happened to be the same doors we bought through a different company and the price of the quote from NEXT was higher for the same doors.

Representatives were professional and met with us quickly to provide an estimate. We visited the Burr Ridge showroom and one of the owners took us through the plant to show us each phase of the installation process. My husband (engineer) and I were most impressed with the precision and detail they put into prepping the window. They take apart the entire window frame to stain. It's not an install and then stain process like Andersen Renewal windows. As a side note, we looked at Andersen Renewal and were not impressed with the explanations concerning installation. Next Door worked with us for an installation date because of an upcoming vacation. They were in and out in about 4 hours. Very smooth process. Installers were knowledgeable and did a great job sealing up the outside and fitting it properly into our cedar sided home. The window blends in well with the other older windows. I have a feeling we may be replacing a few more windows and will definitely go back to Next Door and Window! Marvin Integrity was the best option for us and we are delighted!

Great. We decided to go w/ vinyl windows (Sunrise) and we really like the ones we selected. The installers came promptly at 8 in the morning and had all 17 windows installed by 1 PM. They finished doing the cladding on the outside on the next day. Overall, we are very pleased. From the outside, they look great and doing full frame replacement cost a bit more - but we think it was well worth it. On the inside, we like the look of the windows and we actually have windows now that we can open & close (instead of being painted shut).

We were very happy with the entire process of having these doors installed. We were on a tight schedule because we needed to have the doors installed by the end of 2010 to qualify for the energy-efficiency tax credit, and the team at Next was very helpful in making that happen. Our job had several challenging elements: Our apartment has antique interior woodwork, some of which couldn't be replaced, so we needed the new parts to be custom-stained and blended in without damaging the antique pieces; also our back door frame needed to be modified so we could have a storm window installed over the transom. Other door installers who'd looked at the project made us feel like these issues were our problems to solve, but Next just figured out how to handle them. When the time came to install the patio door the installer worked very carefully to preserve our antique woodwork, and you can't even tell now which parts are new and which are old. We were still waiting on a quote from another door company when we decided to go with Next, so our decision wasn't based on price, but when we did finally get the competing quote we were pleasantly surprised to find that Next's bid was several hundred dollars less. We've already recommended Next to all our neighbors, and won't hesitate to use them again if we need any further door or window work done.

They basically redesigned the whole bay and the carpenters did an excellent job; it is a much cleaner look than the old one. I was very impressed with the window itself and the way the carpenters got it done and cleaned up.

Their price seems a little high, but the work is very good. The workmanship is very good. The staff is very friendly. They are professional and knowledgeable. They know what they are doing. They get the job done.
